  Tastes good, mixes well but priced higher than similar products.

  This protein powder tastes really good. You can tell that’s its good quality just by tasting it. It mixes pretty easily just by shaking it up really good. The texture is less noticeable in smoothies than it is in drinks.I ordered this for my husband and he really likes it. He adds a scoop of the powder to his big travel coffee mug with coffee & some hazel nut creamer then drinks it on the way to work. The dark chocolate tastes great in coffee. He also makes chocolate banana smoothies.. (he adds a little bit of the creamer to that too). He prefers dark chocolate while I’m a milk chocolate lover. I’ve tried this protein powder a couple of times when he insisted that I try his coffee & when I helped him make a smoothie and I think it tastes really good & I normally do not like dark chocolate…or coffee.Each scoop of this Whey Protein Powder contains 25g of protein and 6.9g of BCAAs, it’s “enhanced” with vitamin D3, has 1,000mg of L-Leucine and only has 140 calories, with less than 1g of sugar per serving (which is great because there’s already enough in that creamer).It’s non GMO verified. It’s gluten free, soy free and there’s no artificial flavors, sweeteners and it doesn’t have xantham gum added to it.Ingredients- Whey Protein Isolate.Other ingredients- Whey protein isolate. cocoa powder (processed with alkali). acacia fiber powder. natural flavor. purified sea salt. steviol glycosides (as rebaudioside M). sunflower lecithin. CONTAINS: Milk.This 2 pound bag of chocolate flavored whey protein powder is pricey compared to similar products and my husband has become picky & mindful of ingredients that he puts in his body and he didn’t feel good about consuming this flavor/product because of the warning printed on the bag (next paragraph) so we are going to stick with another brand that we’ve been buying instead.WARNING: This product can expose you to chemicals including lead, which is known to the State of California to cause cancer and birth defects or other reproductive harm.Ver másVer menos

  You Don't Even Have to Love Chocolate to Love This... Bodybuilder Or Not

  TLDR: Real dose, clean label, smooth mix, and a chocolate flavor good enough to win over someone who is not a chocolate person. A couple of thoughtful additions in the formula that most whey powders skip, and a product that I think is mismarketed toward bodybuilders when it is genuinely useful for a much broader audience. Five stars.I am not a big chocolate person. I do not crave it, I do not seek it out, and I am usually skeptical of chocolate-flavored anything. So when I tell you this dark chocolate flavor is rich, clean, and genuinely enjoyable, that is coming from someone with no reason to oversell it. The cocoa tastes like real cocoa rather than the hollow "chocolate flavor" you get with cheaper formulas. The sweetness is dialed in low enough that it does not taste like dessert, which is exactly what I want in a protein powder. The stevia aftertaste is so mild I had to look for it.Before I get into the formula, I want to make the case for who this product is for, because I think the marketing on whey protein in general has done the category a disservice. Whey protein is sold with bodybuilder imagery, gym branding, and language about muscle building, and the result is that a lot of regular people assume it is not for them. That is unfortunate, because the people who could benefit most from added protein are often not the people lifting weights five days a week.You do not have to be a bodybuilder to benefit from added protein. As you age, your body becomes less efficient at building and preserving muscle, a process called anabolic resistance. Older adults often need more protein than younger adults to maintain the same amount of muscle, not less. If you are someone trying to maintain strength and mobility into your fifties, sixties, and beyond, getting enough protein matters and most people in that age range are coming up short.Same goes if you are dieting or in a calorie deficit. The single most important macronutrient for preserving muscle while losing weight is protein. People who lose weight on low-protein diets tend to lose disproportionately more muscle alongside fat, which is why so many diets leave people skinnier but flabbier than they expected. Higher protein intake during weight loss helps you keep the muscle you have, which is what you actually want.This is also useful for anyone with an inconsistent appetite, anyone recovering from illness or surgery, anyone whose meals are skewed toward carbs by circumstance or preference, and honestly anyone over forty who has not thought about their protein intake in a while.This is not medical advice. But the general principle that most adults benefit from higher protein intake than they are getting is well established, and a clean, well-dosed protein powder is one of the easiest ways to address it.Now, about this product specifically.It mixes smoothly. I have had it in a shaker bottle with cold water and in a blender with ice and almond milk, and both worked without clumps or that grainy bottom-of-the-glass sediment.The formula has a couple of things going for it that most whey isolates do not. The MCT powder at 3000mg per scoop is a real addition. As a guy on keto I appreciate this a lot, because MCTs are clean, fast-burning fat fuel that go straight to the liver and convert quickly to ketones. Most whey products lean into the protein number and ignore fuel. This one paid attention.The L-Leucine is the other thoughtful addition. There is naturally occurring leucine in any whey isolate, but they added an extra 1000mg on top of it, bringing the total to about 3850mg per scoop. Leucine is the amino acid that triggers muscle protein synthesis, and roughly 3 to 4 grams per serving is the threshold where the switch actually flips. They put this product right in the zone where it does what it is supposed to do.25 grams of protein per scoop is a legitimate dose. The amino acid profile is published right on the label, which I respect because it shows they have nothing to hide. Vitamin D3, calcium, potassium, and a touch of sodium round out a profile that looks designed rather than thrown together.One math observation. The bag is large and feels like it should hold more, but the scoop is also large, so you end up with 25 servings per 2.28 pound bag rather than the 30 plus you might expect from the package size. Not a complaint, just something to factor into your per-serving cost.Other things to like. Non-GMO, gluten free, third party tested through Informed Sport, and US sourced whey. The contains statement lists milk, which is obvious for a whey product but worth flagging for anyone with allergies.Five stars. Clean label, real dose, smart additions, good flavor, mixes well. Whether you are an athlete, a casual exerciser, someone trying to preserve muscle as you get older, or just someone who has realized you are not eating enough protein, this is an honest product that does what it says it does.
