Perfect for bearded dragon salad sprinkles!!!
A bit of an off label use than advertised - I have a bearded dragon (Winston) that I rescued and he had zero interest in eating his greens and was only obsessed with bugs. After some research I’ve found that people were using yummy additives like bee pollen to their dragon’s salads to encourage healthier eating habits. Mine again had zero interest in bee pollen but it got me thinking about another solution and I figured why not crush up dried bugs and sprinkle those on his greens & veggies!? Worked like a charm but the problem was that a small jar of 1.8oz of dried meal worm, cricket and other bug medley at the pet store was $13 and it went very quickly using it every single day. Live black soldier fly larvae is actually highly recommended as a feeder source for bearded dragons because of their high calcium content & are safe to use as an every day feeder vs other bugs so when this gigantic 5lb bag of dried larvae popped up I was like OMGGGG this is PERFECTION!! The amount of dried bugs 5lbs for $28 is a HUGE deal and the fact that these feeders are healthier for my Winston in the long run is even more impressive. I simply dump cup loads of the dried buggies in our pet’s food processor & they crumble into a nice dusty salad topper that my bearded dragon cannot get enough of. Over all I would say I am extremely pleased with the amount of dried larvae the came in this bag, the bugs look nice and big and perfect for chickens if you have them.Ver másVer menos

Mrs Aloha Friday and I feed these to our backyard birds, as we don't have chickens YET. I put a bowl out this morning and took this photo a few minutes later. That's actually a brick patio with a black metal gazebo over it that you see in that grainy photo. Our backyard birds aren't caged. LOL Mrs AF had to zoom in for you to see from a kitchen window with a screen over it, and her tablet takes terrible photos that way, so it's really bad. They had a ball with the BSFL and enjoyed it just as much as another brand we get, and just as much as meal worms too. Huge hit! A 5 pound bag is huge. The price is in line with what we always pay; $25-$30. It's expensive in relation to some of the cheap filler food our birds get, like corn and millet, but compared to high nutritional value sunflower hearts, safflower and peanuts, it's about the same. Our birds hit worms the most when they've got babies to feed, which is what you see in the photo. Big baby on the left of the bowl. The worms look good - a few broken ones, pretty normal. They smell just as awful as they should! I think BSFL smells like French fries cooked in dirty oil. LOL Mrs AF holds her breath when she deals with the worms. They gross her out, but she handles it like a boss - or a dedicated bird mother. ;o)Ver másVer menos

Our ducks love this stuff. We've tried a few different brands and all are equally enjoyed by our ducks, young and old. Even as young as ducklings. The quality of these is great. It's not a bunch of powder or broken pieces. It's well made and nicely stored. The bag is resealable so it keeps the worms fresh.Ver másVer menos

High-quality grubs that my chickens love
This is a review of the Premium Black Soldier Fly Larvae – 5 lb – Calcium-Rich Chicken Feed Supplement that was priced at $ 27.99 at the time of this review.I’ve been using these as a treat supplement for my chickens, and overall they’ve been a hit. The first thing I noticed is the size. The grubs are fairly large and look clean and consistent, not tiny or broken up like some cheaper options. My chickens really like them. As soon as these hit the ground, they go straight for them and don’t hesitate, which is always a good sign with feed or treats. They definitely get more excited about these compared to some other supplements I’ve tried. From a practical standpoint, these work well as a treat or supplement rather than a complete feed. Black soldier fly larvae are known for being rich in protein and calcium, which can help support egg production and shell strength in laying hens. They make a nice addition if you’re trying to give your flock a little nutritional boost alongside their regular feed. The texture and dryness seem about right. They’re not overly dusty or crumbly, and they hold together well enough to scoop and feed easily without making a mess.Overall, these are good quality grubs with a decent size and strong appeal to chickens. If you’re looking for a simple, natural treat to supplement your flock’s diet, this is a solid option that does exactly what you’d expect.Ver másVer menos

My Chickens Love These Larvae
Black soldier fly larvae are one of my flock's favorite treats. My chickens come running as soon as they hear the bag, and the dried larvae encourage natural scratching and foraging behavior. They are rich in calcium and protein, making them especially useful as an occasional supplement for laying hens. The five-pound bag provides a generous supply and is easy to store as long as it is kept dry. These are also useful for training chickens to return to the coop or follow you when needed.Ver másVer menos

My Chickens Go Absolutely Crazy for These
If my chickens could write reviews, this would probably be six stars. The moment they hear this bag open, they come running from every corner of the yard. The larvae are clean, dry, and consistent in size with very little dust or broken pieces in the bag. I like that they're naturally high in protein and calcium, making them a great supplemental treat for laying hens. It's an easy way to provide a little nutritional boost while also rewarding the flock. The 5-pound bag offers a good quantity and stays fresh in the resealable package. I've used several brands of black soldier fly larvae over the years, and these are every bit as good as the more expensive options I've purchased locally. Most importantly, the chickens absolutely love them. Egg production remains strong, shells are nice and firm, and the flock comes running whenever they see me carrying the bag.Overall, this is a high-quality chicken treat at a fair price, and I'll happily order it again. Highly recommended for anyone with backyard chickens. 🐔🥚Ver másVer menos
