A quality item that is useful for home healthcare and for science.
I needed a stethoscope for a couple reasons. First, it is a great thing to have as part of a home emergency/medical kit. And second, I thought it would be a great item for my son to use while learning about biology. He has tested it out on our dogs (one more patient than the others) and he has tested it on people (myself included). I have found through my own testing that is functions very well. I can clearly hear the beating heart and inhalation (little pops and whistles etc. are clearly heard). It is well constructed and, with proper care, I expect it to last many years in our household. Hopefully it is only used by my son as he learns science but I am sure we will get some use out of it especially during respiratory cold season to listen to lungs. This is a solid item that is well worth the cost. If you are putting together an emergency home medical kit, or need a fun and useful tool for home education, I highly recommend this stethoscope.Ver másVer menos

Way too heavy and the ear covers are huge.
This thing is so heavy and the ear covers are HUGE! They do not fit in our ears at all.

An Excellent Diagnostic Tool
I’m not a veterinary tech, or a veterinarian, or even a medical professional. I’m an engineer, and occasionally I have need for a stethoscope to track down, for instance, noisy capacitors, air leaks, and the like. A few weeks ago I resorted to using a length of tube to locale an air leak in a prototype--having zero access to a stethoscope at the time. This stethoscope doesn’t disappoint! I simulated a similar air leak, and I was able to clearly hear it using this scope, without having to bend my body to accommodate a stiff tube. Having both ears involved was also a plus--the sound isolation is excellent. It’s a little tight between the ears (it might cure one of Uncle Fester’s headaches), but that is the only negative I can come up with (maybe it’s designed for smaller heads). I tried it on my bare chest skin, in a 68°F (20°C) room, and it was a little cool, but not shockingly cold like the scopes of past doctors. Thus, the “Anti-Cooling Ring” seems to do the trick. And, yup, I was able to hear my own heartbeat. I could even hear my lungs (when I placed it on my back). It seems well made, like it will stand the test of time--that’s an impression, of course, not a confirmation. It comes with a little snap-on name tag and that I couldn’t snap on--at least not with my fingers. I wasn’t sure where it’s supposed to go--I could find no included instructions--until I thought to look at the Amazon catalog photos (one of then shows the name-tag installed). With effort I was able to close it with pliers, but there never was a reassuring “snap”. I suppose the advantage, of having to use so much force to close it is: it ain’t coming off!The little “listening head” (not sure if that is the proper term) is easy to grip and the tubing is functionally flexible.BTW: on the box it’s spelled “Stethescope” with an ‘e’ in place of the ‘o’.Ver másVer menos

Guy With a Multimeter
Requires a little break in period
This stethoscope feels like a solid, decent-quality option for its intended use. The tubing and chest piece seem well made, and overall construction appears sturdy. Sound transmission was clear in my experience, and it performs as expected for routine use.My only real drawback was the ear tube tension. The spring steel inside the tubing sets the head pressure, and it isn’t adjustable. Out of the box, the tension was fairly strong and pressed against the outer ear, which was uncomfortable at first. It did relax slightly with use, but a bit less tension from the start would have made it more comfortable. Overall, a good unit with minor ergonomic limitations.Ver másVer menos

Works just like ones for humans
I got the veterinary stethoscope to monitor my dog’s heartbeat. My husband is a nurse practitioner so I had him test it first so he could compare the sound with the one he uses at work. He said the sounds is just as good as his stethoscope at work that he uses for human patients. My untrained ear was also able to hear my dog’s heartbeat well.Ver másVer menos
