So Awesome I can Hardly Contain Myself - Kids Favorite game
Hot lava pillows MOVE OVER! I can't begin to tell you how awesome this game is. So it's kind of funny right? Hot lava is a big deal in my house so imagine my surprise that I got a chance to tell the world how much you will love this game if you are a Hot Lava family. I mean we use to use pillows which drove me nuts lol 😂 . I really wanted my decorative pillows back 😂👍⭐️!So let's talk about ease of use, durability and quality because that is what has stopped me in the past from buying the game. FIVE STARS! I am so happy to report that the stones do not slip on my hard wood and they do not concave. They are made of a durable heavy weight plastic. Important to know that they are not very big which was also a concern for me, but fear not for little feet up to 8 foot shoe sizes they are perfectly fine. Here is the scoop, all of us play Hot Lava as a family so it is crazy super important to me that no one hurts themselves and that the game play can be used with adults. That being said, I will tell you that even though it holds all of our weights and we have had a ton of fun following the challenge cards, it really is a kid sized game. Just wanted you to know that as an adult I mean you really need good dexterity and balance since we find that most of us big kids end up on one foot lmao 😂.I love the challenge cards and am looking forward to expansion packs. Can't wait to do more. As a matter of fact, based on this review alone and our play time, my friends ran out and bought one so we added some additional rules (like we always do) and added stones to our challenge patterns. I recommend buying 2. It's crazy fun. That being said what I am really looking forward to is adult back yard fun this summer with these guys, oh here comes trouble with the jungle juice lol 😂.In terms of value - It's the average price of a high quality board game with mega fund worth buying so ya, it's totally competitive here on Amazon as it is anywhere. For us in our house, it's a great complement to our family shenanigans and mega board game collection.I HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT! I am so darn happy I got a chance to review it because I really wanted to buy it but stopped because I was afraid that it wouldn't support us or be of good enough quality for the price and I am absolutely a mega fan.Thanks for such a great item to review. Very fun but the rules are vague
How many of us have kids who use our sofas and coffee tables to play this game? Now, we can move the game AWAY from the furniture. The Floor is Lava is a game from Goliath. Inside the box are 10 different stepping stones in 5 different colors, a deck of cards, 2 plastic rings to hold them, and a color spinner.The stones themselves are surprisingly heavy duty. They feel like some sort of plastic or rubber. They don't slip, skid, or collapse when kids jump on them. Or when adults jump on them. In the attached pic you can see we're playing the game outside. They nest together and easily fit back into the box again.The challenge cards are small and have a hole in the corner where they can be attached to the included plastic rings. The challenges are simple but still fun. One example being "how many wheels does a bicycle have" and then you perform an action.There's a laminated square including all five colors and a plastic spinner. The spinner spins easily without getting hung up on anything and stopping.The instructions are why this is a 4 star product instead of 5 stars for me. Some of the rules seemed...vague? Like, what happens to the other kids who don't land on the right color? Who gets to answer the challenge card? That said, there's potential for huge amounts of open ended play. We had more fun making up our own rules and playing that way. In spite of the funky rules, this game is very entertaining and a great value for the money. My kids had an absolute blast with it. Perfect Lava Game for Young Active Children
I can't speak highly enough of this game! We have very cold, dark winters where I live and my two young boys often go stir crazy after so many months inside. This game has saved us this year! We don't even need the actual game most of the time; I just plunk the stones down and tell them the floor is lava, and they'll spend hours getting from one end of the room to the other.The plastic stones are very high quality, I was skeptical when I first ordered this but they've been great. They work well on carpet and hardwood floors and stay put even with the most forceful jumps. When we do actually play "The Floor is Lava" as intended, my kids picked up easily on the rules and love the game play. It's easy enough for my five year old to understand, and I'd say all the way down to three years old could handle the rules. It keeps them engaged and entertained.The quality of the materials, from the rocks to the game cards, is great and the game came with all the pieces needed for game play. The special addition is more expensive, but well worth the added cost in my opinion. The multi-colored rocks make it way more fun for my kids.I highly recommend this game to anybody with young, active kids!Ver másVer menos

Quick and fun for all ages! Great product design/fabrication
The Floor is Lava is a great game for all ages, but the real fun is likely focused more around age 5. With that said, we all played it, including 17 year old, 11 year old and 4 year old.The colorful “stones” are not solid, but form something similar to a flat bottom bowl made of a very strong durable plastic that withstand adults weighing 160 and 195 pounds. As you can see from the pictures, the “stones” accommodate many different sizes of feet. The “stones” are lined with rubber in the lip to ensure that they do not slip in hard surfaces.The cards are a hard coated material and they did require a bit of finesse to pull them apart, but we did so without damaging any. We received two rings to put through the hole in the cards to connect and contain them. The cards will require reading at a decently high level (2nd grade and up). However, we enjoyed playing with just the color spinner (without the challenge cards) for faster games.The spinner is a large thick cardboard with a two piece spinner. We have shelves full of kids games and I must say that this game has THE BEST operating spinner! It’s stability makes a huge difference.This game has already been deemed a family favorite.Ver másVer menos

Fun for the whole family
I picked up The Floor is Lava Stepping Stones Game for my kids, and honestly, it turned out to be one of those “why didn’t I get this sooner?” kind of purchases.Right out of the box, it was super easy to set up—just scatter the stepping stones around and you’re good to go. My kids were instantly hooked. The whole “don’t touch the floor” idea never gets old, and this just takes it to another level. They were jumping, balancing, and laughing within minutes, and it actually got them off their screens without any complaints.What I really like is how it sneaks in some physical activity. They’re working on balance and coordination without even realizing it, and I’ve noticed they’re getting more confident hopping from stone to stone. It’s also nice that you can change up the layout to keep things interesting.The Alexa songs are a fun bonus—they add a little extra excitement and help keep the energy going. We’ve used it both inside on rainy days and outside when the weather’s nice, and it works great either way.If I had to nitpick, I’d say it’s best on surfaces where the pieces won’t slide too much, but that’s pretty easy to work around.Overall, this has been a big hit in our house. It’s simple, active, and actually keeps the kids entertained for more than five minutes—which is saying a lot. The Alexa function doesn’t work at all.
My kiddos have asked for The Floor Is Lava game at the stores for months now. Each time I tell them no because it seems so overpriced for cardboard “stones.” I saw this Floor Is Lava “deluxe” Stepping Stones version with plastic stones and was very intrigued. It is more expensive than the original game, but the addition of the plastic stones helped me justify that. What really sold me however was the incorporation of Amazon Alexa with this version.The stones are pretty thick plastic with a little bit of rubber on the bottom to help them stay put on slick floors. My kids (7 and 4) didn’t have any issues with sliding on our hardwood. My husband and I played with them (140-150lb) and didn’t have any issues with the stones breaking. They felt like they caved a little, but it was temporary and they went right back to normal when we moved on to the next stone. I wish that there was an official max weight recommendation that the game included just to know when others larger than us came to visit.The gameplay idea is simple enough, but the official rules were confusing to us. We had to incorporate a bunch of house rules to make it make sense, especially for two stone jumper player situations (which ideally you always need at least three players total- more on that in a minute). The question cards had a wide enough variety that both my kids could easily answer correctly. Our four year old could not do the math questions, but otherwise was fine.My BIGGEST Complaint about this item is the lack of Alexa functioning, which again was one of the main reasons I decided to order it. Following the directions included as well as trying every other variation I could think of myself would not allow the skill to run. We tried on both our old outdated Show as well as a brand new Dot. Furthermore, the game requires a “host” to spin the wheel and read the question cards. Essentially this has to be an adult because it requires someone old enough to read and mature enough to play fairly and only ask questions that are age appropriate. The questions are simple enough that if a group of older children that could read independently were playing, they would likely find the questions/game boring. The game cannot really be played as intended unless you have one adult and at least two kids.The lack of Alexa functionality (which is advertised as making this game unique) and the fact that an adult has to play makes this game extremely disappointing to me. I love playing with my kids, but sometimes I need to get things done around the house. I do not feel that this game is worth the price for what you get and the Alexa situation. My kids still had a good time playing with the stones and making their own rules, but I could have spent the same amount of money on a larger set of JUST stones.Should the Alexa function be corrected I would reevaluate my experience and update my review accordingly.
