Wonderful set, but make sure it's complete!
TL/DR:It's an adorable keycap set that feels and sounds great. I've actually scored some of my highest MonkeyType typing tests using MAO profile keycaps! These "cat head" MAO profile keycap sets are uniform (every row is the same shape), and they usually offer a high level of layout flexibility and support in terms of the keycap sizes provided - including Tsangan/WKL and Alice/Arisu keyboard layouts, plus an ISO enter key! This is one of those high compatibility sets.IMPORTANT: Confirm you received a complete set, as apparently people are buying and returning keycap sets now, while at least sometimes helping themselves to some of the keycaps. Amazon, isn't catching the theft, resulting in partial sets being resold as "New".--------------------------Full Review:I ordered this NEW condition set during the recent Prime sale. When it arrived, I initially assumed the product box damage was due to shipping. Then, I opened the box, pulled out the keycap trays, and examined the set. That's when I realized it didn't look complete. After quickly comparing what I received against the Amazon listing photos, I realized I'd received a return, immediately noting the lack of 2.25 and 2.75 space bars. I knew there were probably further missing keys, but figured it would be easiest to compare the first set with a (hopefully new and complete) replacement set.The replacement keycaps arrived today, and, sure enough, there was an ENTIRE ROW of keycaps missing from the set. Missing were the ISO enter, Alice/Arisu 2.25 and 2.75 space bars, and the Tsangan/WKL bottom row support, consisting of a 7u space bar and 1.5u modifiers. Other keycaps were badly re-arranged.The original purchaser apparently decided to keep several of the keycaps, put a keycap puller in the spot that should house the ISO enter key, and then returned the rest. The new box shipped to me as a replacement didn't even HAVE a keycap puller (not that I don't already own a zillion), so....the thief added one?I haven't dropped off the return, yet, but I've added Post-it Notes on both sides of the keycap box, warning it was incomplete, and to NOT sell as "new". Someone that doesn't need Tsangan or Alice support could totally benefit from the compromised set without ever missing the stolen keycaps, but they shouldn't pay full price for a partial set. The box as I received it was also not new and is not at all (potentially) gift worthy.I'm including two photos here. The first photo is of the (correct and new) replacement set I received. I haven't done anything but look at it, so the keycap order is straight from the factory. The second photo is of the incomplete set. I edited the photo to highlight the missing keycaps, but everything is exactly as I received it. If you get a "new" set that looks like photo two, you have my condolences.As for the set in general, MAO keycaps are great, although anything keyboard is largely personal preference, so ymmv! They're super cute - unless you wrongly hate cats - are of decently thick PBT, and the dyesub method used to imprint them is unlikely to show wear, as the dye is embedded into the plastic. I mean, where there's a will, there's a way, but you'd have to wear down or carve into the actual plastic of the keycap.MAO profile keycaps sound good on a keyboard (if sound matters to you), they're uniform profile, so they're more flexible in terms of keyboard layout options, and their compatibility is further increased due to the typical inclusion of Tsangan/WKL and Alice/Arisu bottom row support, along with the addition of an ISO enter key. Those compatibility "extras", non-standard to the US/ANSI keyboard layout, were all of the keys that were missing in my initial delivery order. I will say that I've never had an MAO set provide a stepped caps lock key, so keep that in mind if you require one, but most keyboards sold in the U.S. don't support them, anyway.The "Cat Cafe" theme of this set is utterly adorable, and will look particularly great on black, white, or cool pink mechanical keyboards.Ver másVer menos
