Best Display I Have Ever Seen!
Overview: Most beautiful display I have ever seen in person with my eyes in my entire life! The blacks are inky and the contrast is amazing. I came from an LG OLED CX 55 inch 4k TV that I was using as a monitor/tv. The difference is night and day. The pixel density as in pixels per inch is higher than a 4k 55 inch and with vivid pixel mode, it feels indistinguishable from a 4k 27 inch display to me. The 280HZ is amazingly smooth and responsive even compared to 120HZ. I bought a refurbished 4k QD OLED monitor and a mini LED, both of which arrived with a major screen defect so I had to return them. The picture of those monitors doesn't even hold a candle to the quality of this screen. And those screens cost respectively $240 and $140 more than this! This is absolutely a steal for $650. It comes with 2 HDMI 2.1 ports and a display port 1.4 with DSC. On DisplayPort 1.4, the DSC works seamlessly and has not caused a single hiccup. It also comes with a heavy duty vesa mounting bracket adapter and the power adapter is built into the monitor too which makes cable management much easier.Consoles: Tested with a bunch of games on PS5 and Xbox Series X. PS5 has a native 1440p, 120hz, HDR mode that is amazing. On series X, in order to get HDR working in game, you have to enable a 4k signal that the monitor downscales to 1440p to fit the display. The resulting image is sharper, but not that different to the PS5's native 1440p mode. I actually prefer the PS5's image slightly compared to the series X, but I also didn't test a lot of newer games on the series X. But image quality is amazing on both.Panel Settings: I guess I won the panel lottery as they say or maybe the quality control is better, but I had no vertical banding. Brightness is amazing. I am using HDR True Black 500 mode. I think it limits the brightness to 500 nits technically, but it appears brighter because of how amazing the contrast is and nothing ever felt too dark. They also say it extends the life of the panel because the pixels don't have to work as hard to light up so bright so that's an added bonus. According to Asus this is probably overkill, but on my PC, I have the taskbar set to auto hide, screensaver to a black screen after 2 minutes, and screen shut off at 15 minutes. I would suggest if you want a very long monitor life that you do something similar.Monitor Behavior: One thing I noticed is that it does a pixel refresh every time the power is turned off or the monitor goes into standby about 5 minutes after no activity. So even when I turn the monitor on for less than a minutes and turn it off it does a pixel refresh. This is not the same as a panel refresh and the monitor is built to do that process as many times as it wants because it is just adjusting voltages. Just don't unplug your monitor without turning it on and off first. Because it won't run a cycle when off. Even if you do interrupt a cycle, another pixel refresh should fix it if it does cause a problem. This is all speculative from what I have read online and at 40 hours in, I haven't run across a single issue with this monitor and absolutely love it.Ver másVer menos
