A very nice streaming device with a miserable remote
I was on the fence on ordering this as it really doesn't have anything better/faster as the CPU/GPU/RAM are the exact same thing that the previous model Z11 Pro Max has. The 128 gig of storage is a plus, but only for those who love to record things really, as the 32 gig I had in my older Z11 Pro Max was more than plenty otherwise. I had my Max act up so I decided to upgrade to the Z12 Ultra as it is a new model that has Android 12 over the 11 in the Max, but the most important part is this has Dolby Vision & Dolby Atmos capability that the Z11 Pro Max does not have. I ran Geekbench benchmarks on both & although it did improve on the numbers it is very minimal improvement of speeds for this Z12 Ultra over the older model. What really is awesome is the Dolby Vision & Atmos that really looks superb on my Sony 90 series tv. If there is a reason to fork out the extra for this unit over the Z11 Pro Max this is it. I am extremely happy with the video/audio improvements so I don't regret spending the extra for these features. I wouldn't do it for a bedroom probably, but for my primary living room tv it is well worth it, especially if you have a Dolby Atmos sound system to go with the Dolby Vision that this provides. Everything is working really well, smooth with no issues on any apps I have installed, & have noted some newer versions of a couple of apps that work in this model that won't in the older one, but also discovered a couple of apps that didn't work in this that work in the Z11 Pro Max, but smaller, less important ones. This device should have been better with more ram & faster processor, but overall still a good device. For those of you that have never owned a Formuler device the MyTvOnline 3 app is an awesome playlist streaming app that I really love personally, & just to put it simply is in my mind better & less congested for settings but also far more user friendly than the TiviMate app is, especially somebody that may not be as tech savvy as myself. I feel it's a very worthy notation of this app if your considering purchasing & are not familiar with this app. It is exclusive to Formuler devices so you don't get this app with other brand Android tv devices. Now, lets address the new BT3 Bluetooth remote that comes with this. This remote is the biggest piece of junk on the planet! During setup I slid the nice silicone case off of it, put batteries in it, slid the case back on & paired it with my tv. I installed a bunch of apps, loaded in many things in to it, then discover the volume wouldn't control the tv with the top volume buttons on the remote. After trying everything in the Formuler remote app then I factory reset it only to discover afterwards that the remote has some hidden buttons on the sides. the left side has an input button & on the right is volume up & down, but guess what? The tv volume is controlled by the side of the remote where the top buttons are controlling the system volume. WHAT? This was crazy to me to have this backwards as the system volume buttons need to be controlled by the side with the tv volume on the top, but there isn't any way of fixing this HUGE mistake! I tried to illustrate in these photos just how bad these side buttons are located as they are very hard to find/see & the curvature of the remote makes this a horrific problem to even use them as they are curled underneath the side of the remote. Then you combine this with the fact that it is fatter than the BT1 & bowed instead of being straight so the buttons on top, especially the number buttons are even harder to reach! Not only fatter but even longer in length & combined with the bent angle away from you it just makes this remote the largest mistake Formuler ever made! Thankfully it's an easy fix to pair my BT1 up to it to use it instead of this piece of junk. I hope somebody from Formuler reads this & learns from this total mistake of a remote! I can't believe anyone actually thought this was a smarter idea, much less produce such a miserably designed remote. If you don't have a BT1 remote plan on an additional expense because of all of this. They are available separately for about 30 bucks. I was so glad I have the BT1 to use already to save the day on this for sure. I don't need the dumb system volume anyhow, just leave it all the way up & forget about it. Overall this is a great device at a little high price point, but if your looking for a great AOSP type of device with a great MOL3 app with the Dolby Vision/Atmos, then it might be for you.Ver másVer menos
