Seamless Setup, Identical Size, Tech Differences
This replacement remote is an excellent, highly functional option if you need a quick backup or replacement for your smart TV. Right out of the package, it functions exactly like my original factory remote and is the exact same physical size. To prove just how identical they are, I’ve uploaded a picture comparing the two side-by-side the original is housed in my old purple silicone sleeve, and this replacement slipped flawlessly into an extra blue silicone sleeve I had on hand. The brand’s plug and play claims are completely accurate; there is absolutely zero programming or setup required. All you have to do is drop in two AA batteries, and you are immediately set to go.However, from an educational standpoint, there are two distinct technical differences between this replacement and a factory original that buyers need to know. First, the four pre programmed app hotkeys at the very bottom of the remote feature a different combination of streaming shortcut platforms (like Netflix and YouTube) than my original did.Second, the signal technology itself operates differently. The factory remote utilizes a Bluetooth or RF signal, which allows you to change channels from any angle without looking at the screen. This replacement model relies on standard Infrared (IR) technology, meaning it requires a direct line of sight and must be pointed directly at the television sensor to register commands. If you don't mind making that small adjustment to how you point your remote, the seamless battery setup, perfect component size, and budget friendly design make this an incredibly reliable replacement. Works well enough for our purposes
Our TV is a "Insignia™ - 55" Class F30 Series LED 4K UHD Smart Fire TV". We've had it for less than 2 years, but the remote had taken a bit of a beating, and the last time it got dropped, the battery panel popped off and snapped in 2 pieces. Oops. So I ordered this one to replace it.On the whole, no major complaints. It's the exact same size as the original, with buttons of exactly the same sizes in exactly the same positions. There were some slight differences in the buttons themselves as opposed to our original remote. The button that read "DirecTV" on the original says "Disney+" on this one, and the "Peacock" button is instead "Amazon Music".The instructions were simple and straightforward. Each step was adequately explained using the exact terminology that appeared on our TV, no guesswork involved. It connected quickly and easily without complications. Strangely, trying to use the "Disney+" and "Amazon Music" buttons resulted in the "Not available in this country" message pictured. Not sure if it would make a difference if we had either app downloaded onto the TV already, because we don't. Aside from that, everything has functioned just the same as the original.Just like the original, this remote takes 2 AAA batteries. Unlike our original, there is a separate compartment for each of the 2 batteries, rather than both of them butting up against one another in the same large slot.Ver másVer menos

Simple Setup and Works Perfectly

Shortcut buttons went to Japanese TVer and U-Next
My son managed to destroy the original remote for his bedroom Insignia Fire TV. This is my 3rd attempt at a decent replacement, and this leaves a lot to be desired.Pairing was a little strange. At first I tried the method of turning the TV on and letting it figure out a new remote exists. It did connect, but range was limited to around 6 ft from the screen. Then I paired it again through the settings menu and it worked significantly better. Not clear how or why, but that difference made this go from trash to viable. So not easy to connect, but doable.The buttons aren’t like the original, but not bad either. Those were on the better end for replacement remotes. And the printing on the shortcut buttons was nice.The top 2 shortcut buttons worked as intended, but the bottom 2 linked to Japanese apps that apparently I’m not allowed to download in the US. I included pictures of what they brought up rather than Disney+ or Amazon music. Odd stuff!I didn’t notice any backlight, but the upper right corner of the remote blinks a green light 3x per button press. This adds no value and will only shorten battery life.While it does work as a replacement remote, it is far from perfect. At over 2x what other replacement remotes sell for, I expected better. Instead I got a case that is so thin it is literally see-through, and unusable buttons.Ver másVer menos

It works! I just did a cross country move and my previous fire stick batteries basically melted and corroded the inside so I needed a new one. This one came in clutch. I always think it's funny to see the different buttons you might get. I'll likely only use the Netflix button on my remote. The instructions were really helpful since I wouldn't have even thought to test the volume buttons. My volume control didn't work but the setting had to do with my soundbar. This is longer and lighter than my original remote, but not a bad thing.Ver másVer menos

Fabulous replacement or supplement to original equipment remote. Super easy to use with seamless pairing right out of the package, with full functionality, light weight, and responsive buttons with satisfying feel on use.
