No you didn't grow an inch. Inaccurate by exactly 1"
Extremely incorrect/inaccurate exactly by 1"/2.5CM for measurements over 61". Another reviewer said same problem and I confirmed with a tape measure. The issue is they have not offset the top sliding scale up by the length/height of the mechanism holding the drop down head contact piece.Ver másVer menos

Professional quality and saves space
This is a great tool for height measurements. The aluminum construction feels durable and professional, much better than the plastic versions I’ve seen.I love that it mounts securely to the wall, so it doesn't take up any floor space when not in use. The dual scale (inches and centimeters) is clear and easy to read, and the range is wide enough to measure everyone from small children to tall adults. Accuracy at a Great Price
For my children, I have always used a tape measure to determine their height. I would stand them against the wall, place a level on their head and make a mark on the door frame. Depending on whether the kids would stand still, I would determine if they had grown (or lost) a half inch! It never crossed my mind to buy a stadiometer.As soon as I saw this, I knew I had to have it to now measure my grandchildren. I mounted it behind the door frame in the utility room. It only protrudes from the wall about an inch, and with the height indicator down, it is hardly noticeable and easily folds out of the way. When the door is completely opened against the wall, it does not contact the stadiometer.It was very easy to install and calibrate to get a consistent/accurate height measurement. For the price, the level of accuracy completely surprised me. I checked the accuracy at 4 feet, 5 feet and 6 feet. It is “Spot on”, doesn’t even appear to be 1/32 inch off! As well constructed as this stadiometer is, I actually suspect the rule I used to check the accuracy.It is constructed using a precisely fitting aluminum extrusion that slides together very easily. HEADS UP. 7'4" LIMIT, and I don't know if there is an extention option available.I can finally transition from surgical quackery to a bona fied neurosurgeon.All kidding aside, I don"t believe in buying consumer grade anything when there is an affordable professional grade option readily available. This is a great example and the listing pairs this with a recommendation of a medical grade scale with wall mountable corded readout display.Let's do the math here. $79m/l +$114m/l =$194m/l. This may be non taxable and/or deductible on health plans but worse case, add 10% tax and for $214 out the door, you get quality accurate equipment that blows any "budget friendly" alternative.This comes with sturdy "honeycomb" reinforced wall mounts having screw holes about 3 inches apart which should allow direct installment to the wall studs along door or window casing. As well, it comes with wall anchors that require no drilling. Here's my hack. Simply tap a tapered scratch-awl ($10ish) into sheetrock just deep enough for the anchor to be embedded snug and flat, tap anchor in flat with back end of scratch-awl and attach the mounts with screws. I usually use a higher quality/capacity anchor.The first or second product image shows the height guage being much larger than it really is. Its about 12" long and has a roundish area that is about 3" wide. The scale is extremely simple to read and the aluminum pieces are of the extruded type, similar to what is used for crutches. Aka structural aluminum.Do we need to monitor our exact height at 59 yrs old? Laura says "probably not". I say "wouldn't hurt". We have kids and grandkids to be followed by grand kids.
