Really surprising amount of bass, very hefty magnet and surround
I got this to add some bass to the audio system of an older SUV. I mounted it free air on a finished plywood board to test it, along with the amp, before designing and building a custom box for it and very surprisingly it sounded way better than I was expecting considering it's not designed for a free air application, at least as far I'm aware of. I'm still going to build a box, but I thought it was pretty interesting.The driver is very well built, with a large, solid frame and an oversized magnet that must weigh at least 10lbs, if not more. Contact terminals are gold-plated, a template was included to cut the mounting hole and I think it's a nice looking cone design; it's simple and clean with a large surround. I'm not really looking for bass quality, we just want noise with this one, so I don't have any complaints with it so far and I know the bass will tighten up quite a bit when the ported box is finished.I came away impressed with the quality of this subwoofer, especially considering the very reasonable asking price. Nothing about it looks or feels cheap, which is honestly what I was expecting, so I'm happy to be pleasantly surprised. I'm just getting back into car audio, except this time it's for the kids and not me, so it was a nice entry point. I'm not sure you can do better at this price so it feels like an easy recommendation to make.Ver másVer menos
