Really solid for a comparatively cheap keyboard

This isn't bad for a pretty cheap mechanical keyboard. Sure, there are a bunch of "features" that wouldn't be acceptable in a high-end keyboard, but at this price (especially black friday 2025 sale price) most can be overlooked. My keyboard at home has never been quite right. I bought whatever brown switch keyboard I could get delivered during the pandemic to keep everyone else sane, as I was using an old model m that was driving everyone else round the twist. It was never quite right as it always suffered from occasional duplicate keypresses, and in the last couple of months it 's been pretty wonky. However, it did sell me on the notion that the tenkeyless format is superior, with less right hand motion needed to go from keyboard to mouse, and much less desk real estate occupied. Given the current sale pricing, I decided to buy two of these in the banana switch format. I decided I wanted the same keyboard at work and at home, as I've been struggling with muscle memory going back and forth. Buying two meant I was looking for something comparatively cheap, and this popped up in this year's sale, so I went for it. The yellow switches are a little light for my liking, with a bit less initial feedback before activation than I'd like. However, they're certainly smooth, and they have a reasonable muted sound in use. I'll still be putting orings on the back of my home keyboard to deaden it even further as I'm a neanderthal that always bottoms out when typing. The enter key on my work keyboard sounds harsher than all of the other keys, so I'll probably be putting an oring on that, too. The stabiliser on the space bar is really solid, especially compared to what I've been used to for the past few years. I can press it anywhere along its length and it drops vertically without any significant skew or binding. The backlighting is a bit on the dim side in a lit room, possibly a result of the lighting being located on the north edge of each switch. Still, I was explicitly looking for something with north edge lighting as I often have to get up and respond to calls from work in the late evening, and my old keyboard's south-lit keys were pretty harsh in low light, even when turned down. There are the usual pointless array of reactive lighting schemes. I don't mind RGB, but by default all of the built-in schemes were animated, which was initially off-putting. I didn't feel like mapping out a completely custom arrangement, so I just used the launcher web page thing to turn the speed down to 1 on one of the existing effects, making it more or less static. I'm not a fan of the always-lit red mac/win indicator next to the caps lock light. I'll be looking to see if there's a way to turn that off. Speaking of which, being able to change settings from a web page is really nifty. My main complaint about that is no support for firefox, which is important to use under Linux. Yes, chrome is available even there, but I spend 80% of my time in Linux and use firefox across all platforms, so it would be useful to find support for that browser. Still, not needing a separate executable is a pretty neat trick - I never once touched the manufacturer-specific software for my old keyboard in about 5 years of use. The plastic case flexes significantly if you press down hard on it. To do that requires a force far in excess of normal typing, but it's something that some folks will not appreciate. Still, for a keyboard in this price range, it's perfectly acceptable. I find it interesting that it came with mac keycaps installed by default, but the PC replacements are in the box, along with a puller. If the yellow banana switches had a little more initial resistance, the backlighting were a little brighter and the configuration site worked with firefox, this would be an easy 5-star product. At the current sale price, this is probably a 4.5, but the rating system isn't that granular. First impressions are that this is quite impressive for the price.
