It Has Opinions About Everyone Who Enters My Home And It Is Not Keeping Them To Itself
Five stars. The range is 1000 feet. ONE THOUSAND FEET. I live in a house, not a compound, but the TECKNET does not know that and I have chosen not to tell it.Here is what I needed: a simple chime to alert me when my front door opens, because I work from home and my children treat the concept of "announcing yourself" as a quaint regional custom that does not apply to them. Here is what I got: a small electronic device with the energy of a maître d' at a restaurant that is slightly too good for you. Every single time that door opens — every time — it announces the arrival with a tone that says "someone is here and we will now acknowledge them formally." The UPS driver. My neighbor returning a dish. My son, who has now been formally announced 34 times this week and is annoyed about it.I set it to the chime that sounds vaguely like a doorbell from a much nicer house than mine. This was a mistake because now guests arrive, hear the chime, and look slightly confused about the gap between the audio and the visual. I do not apologize for this. We are aspirational here. The setup took four minutes. FOUR. I have spent longer than that trying to open a jar of pickles. The sensor and the receiver simply decided to cooperate with each other like adults, which was jarring. My dog has learned what the chime means and now stations herself at the door like a small, extremely invested security consultant.1000 feet of range. My nearest neighbor is Janet, who is 200 feet away and has no idea she is within range. I find this privately satisfying.Ver másVer menos
