If you have to think twice about buying this product you've already wasted too much time!
The case and probes have beautiful aesthetic and texture details. The case has a nice rubber bottom, textured textile weave sides, and a poly clear case top -- very nice indeed. The probes are color coded and had a nice shiny finish to both the decorative ceramic ends and the metal shaft. A very nice quality product. Not your average $20 high heat resistance stick and forget probe set. This is a few levels higher than most. Lovely packaging and wrapping on all the important bits. The whole package resembles a little bluetooth speaker with probes under a clear cover. It's as compact and beautiful as all other modern appliances. It's not just another shelf brick!The product has a 1 year warranty, but does not cover normal wear/tear, fire/flood, or any instance in which you used it commercially.When checking information tabs within the app, I saw that each probe has its own unique MAC address, HVIN, and Serial Number! Very interesting! My base station was connected to my home wi-fi network and immediately prompted for a firmware update to the devices. Super cool! You can name the base unit and you can set names to each individual probe, as well as check the probe's connectivity, or remove the probe completely from your devices, in case you ever needed to replace one. Every time you remove or insert a probe into the smart hub (base station) it will make a distinct unique chime tone. And YES! the smart hub does know the difference when you put probe 2 into the slot for probe 1! It still will detect that probe 1 is removed from the smart hub. Don't worry - you CAN turn down the volume within the app, to include full mute of all sounds emitted from the device! When on the app main screen it will tell you the Hub battery life percentage. You can also share the appliance with other friends and family, thru an email link - and you can select a limited share access level, or a full access level. With the limited access they will not be able to edit your cook session, but can still start a cook session and view a cook session. Currently the only 2 languages offered in the app are English and French-Canadian.When starting a cook session you have many many many options to choose from for what you'll be cooking — If you pick a steak, it will ask you what cut of meat that steak is! After you pick that, you'll be asked to say how thick that cut is, and don't worry, the app has a helpful info-graphic on-screen instructing you to basically use the notches on the temperature probe, to measure the thickness! How cool!? After you measure up your meat and tell the app how big it is, or for some how much it weighs, you will be asked what cook surface you want to use to cook your meat — grill.. stove & oven, just oven, just stovetop, smoker, air fryer?!! The choices are endless .. well, not really, but you know what I mean!! Then you'll tell the app just how DONE you want your meat — and here's the coolest thing, for you visual learners, there's a graphic on screen that SHOWS YOU the done-ness! (Only for certain preset meat items though, not every option on the app) How awesome that the iQ team has spent the time to do that. After you tell your desired done-ness for the first probe, it will ask you to do the same for the next probe. You can even edit the pre-sets in case you want yours just a little past what the app is pre-programmed to do. Like yours just a tad more cooked but not quite cooked to the next level, you can edit the time and temps to your heart's content! You can even set the rest time! I know that waiting for your food isn't fun... So, why sit there starring at the clock waiting for it to reach 5 minutes later, when you could be doing other stuff around the kitchen like getting your sides prepared to go with your delicious meal.. you'll get notified when the rest time is up, and then the whole meal can be served all at the same time... You can even get notified thru the app when the grill, oven, or air fryer unexpectedly drops below a certain temperature, or elevates above a certain temperature. Got a long-haul of a smoke session, during which time you'll be napping on the couch? Set the alert and rest in peace. The app will tell you if you're about to burn your meat!At the current on-sale price of $130 for a 3 probe kit I think it's a no-brainer to pick one of these up — Personally, I think every kitchen in American should have one, just for simple convenience and safety... There's a lot of people these days that just don't know how to cook because they were never taught HOW... And products like this are on the front row offering help to those who otherwise might poison the entire family Christmas dinner!!Some of you may see this huge paragraph of a review and think "ahh that's gotta be promo stuff.."
