While it may not be a new generation in the traditional sense, it serves as an enhancement to the already exceptional picture quality of the A80J. In gaming terms, the Bravia 8 II can be compared to the PS5 Pro in terms of its performance, refining and enhancing the base picture rather than completely transforming it.Interestingly, the picture quality of the Bravia 8 II is often comparable to that of its smaller siblings, which should not be interpreted as a negative aspect. However, when the content demands it, the significantly higher brightness and color saturation become evident, elevating the overall viewing experience. To fully appreciate the capabilities of the Bravia 8 II, it is recommended to seek out content that showcases its strengths, such as high-vibrancy animated movies like the Spider-Verse films or HDR gaming, where options are abundant.Specifically, the red tones receive a notable upgrade in many content types. Previously, they tended to exhibit a yellow hue at higher brightness levels, as seen in the fires in Horizon Zero Dawn.In the realm of gaming, several noteworthy enhancements have been introduced. Notably, the inclusion of the game bar and the Dolby Vision game mode stands out. The game bar activates upon pressing the menu button during game mode, presenting a new bar with specific features and settings for customization. These include enabling VRR or motion blur reduction, adding a crosshair, and allowing users to visually reduce the screen size for a closer viewing experience. The game bar operates efficiently, maintaining simplicity, cleanliness, and ease of use.The Dolby Vision game mode, as its name suggests, enables the playback of games in Dolby Vision with minimal input lag, particularly advantageous for Xbox users. For PlayStation users, the television offers the comprehensive suite of Perfect for PS5 automatic compatibility features, facilitating swift optimization of gameplay.Regarding audio, the internal speakers have proven to be a delightful surprise. Dialogue is rich and articulate, bass is present, and its impact is palpable. Additionally, the acoustic center sync functionality ensures that the television operates harmoniously with compatible sound systems.
