These Pants Have No Business Being This Good

I bought these because I wanted a second pair of hiking pants to rotate with another premium pair I already owned. I spend a lot of time hiking, so having multiple pairs just makes life easier. What I didn't expect was to be so impressed that I immediately ordered another pair. These absolutely punch above their price point.I honestly don't know what kind of witchcraft Moosehill used when they designed these. They're lightweight without feeling flimsy, breathable without feeling paper-thin, and somehow incredibly stretchy while still feeling like a durable pair of hiking pants. The fabric doesn't have that obvious elastic feel when you touch it, but once you put them on, they move with you in every direction. Whether I'm climbing over logs, scrambling up hillsides, or crouching down for macro photography, they never feel restrictive. The zip-off pant legs are a nice feature, but what I use even more is the built-in button system that lets you roll the legs up and secure them around knee height. That has become my favorite way to wear them. Paired with knee-high hiking socks, I stay protected from ticks, poison ivy, and brush while getting far more airflow than full-length pants. It's the perfect balance of comfort and protection for long summer hikes. The construction quality has also been excellent. The stitching, materials, and overall fit all feel far better than I'd expect at this price. After wearing these extensively, I can honestly say they've become some of my favorite hiking pants, regardless of price. If something happened to this pair tomorrow, I'd order another one without thinking twice.Ver másVer menos

  Great versatile pants

Love these! The ability to remove he bottom portion is excellent during cool mornings and hot afternoons in California. Very comfortable to wear and durable. Fit as expected. Zipper quality is great. Has had multiple washes with any problems. They are light and comfortable. Great for traveling since they are so light and easy to pack. Bought them in multiple colors.Ver másVer menos

Worth it for a lightweight hiking pant.

Bought both the convertible and the stretch version. Both are thin, light and comfortable. I prefer the stretch version, as it seems to fit better overall. The zipper quality seems very good, plenty of pocket space, but not over done. As far as durability goes, my guess is the velcro on the main snap (just augments the closure) and the velcro on the side leg pockets will fail first due to the stitching. As mentioned by others, since the waist has some elastics to it, it can be a little big for the size. I wear between a 34/30 and a 32/30, and went with the smaller of the two. Fit was good. After a few long hikes, I'm liking them for the price.Ver másVer menos

Main Pants for Trip to Amazon, Machu Picchu and the Galapagos

Bought these sage colored pants for a three-week trip through some pretty eclectic weather and terrain. I am 5’ 10” tall and around 185 lbs. Usually I wear a size 36 waist, but downsized to the 34 waist because of the elastic waistband. The fit was perfect. They held up magnificently, not showing dirt, feeling clean and comfortable even after wearing them 3- days in a row which included a lot of hiking. The pants are well designed and built. They dry quickly, and for me the choice of pockets were perfect. The right-hand pocket was a bit bigger than the other pants I brought with me and it accommodated some wide items. The zipper pocket on the left was perfect for other important items. In the back center of the pants (not shown in pictures) there are two belt loops so the pants don’t expose butt cleavage when bending over, keep shirts tucked in, and hold your pants up very well even with a bunch of stuff in your pockets. They have a nice fit around my butt, and were not tight around the knees. I was comfortable in hot damp humid weather and cool weather. I brought two other pairs of paints, but seemed to be drawn to these the most. These are a winner, and displayed a lot of thoughtfulness in their design. Of all my equipment I brought on this trip, I was the most grateful for these pants.Ver másVer menos

Pretty good outdoor pants with a few caveats

Pretty good outdoor pants that I bought for hiking, but also as zip offs to go from working in a cold air conditioned space, to lots of movement where I get really warm. The pants are actually pretty good at wind breaking and staying reasonably warm for their thickness and weight. They run a tad large and have a lot of stretch to them, especially around the waist; I could have gone a size down and been comfortable. The ankle cinches are nice, but there is a lot of velcro on them to accommodate a huge range of leg opening sizes, but the excess velcro can hang out and potentially catch on stuff if you run them really tight or really loose. I can just barely take the legs off over my daily shoes (size 8.5) with the ankle cinches undone. The only real caveat I have about these is the material they are made from is really loud when walking around. It's very similar to cheap snow pants and can be awkwardly loud inside. Outside walking and hiking is not a problem unless you are in a place that is incredibly quiet, and it's not as bad when they are worn as shorts, but it also depends on your gait. Finally, the button on the fly to keep the pants closed is pretty loose on my pair, but this is mitigated by them placing velcro around the button. However, I often accidentally undo the button while unzipping the pants to use the fly and my belt is the only thing keeping them up. The velcro around the fly button also loves to catch other clothes in the laundry, especially socks and underwear, so I make sure to close the button and zip the fly before washing them now.Overall, pretty good pants for the money, especially for light-medium outdoors walking and hiking.Ver másVer menos
