A surprisingly nice meter and a great buy for a DIYer for AC/DC testing
Look, I'm someone who seemingly cannot have too many DVOMs around. I saw Eric on SMA's YouTube channel using this meter and decided to pick one up. I certainly don't need another meter, but it looked cool, so why not?I've put it through its paces and I'm very pleased with it. Compared with my Fluke 289, the readings are nearly a 100% match. This is a great all-around meter for a homeowner, since you can use it for automotive, general household electrical, and also testing capacitance on things like AC condenser capacitors. The screen is easy to read and it has multiple modes to display data, including a graphing mode which is certainly hard to find in a meter at this price point.I don't think it would hold up as well as a Fluke or Fieldpiece meter in professional use, but around the house it should last a long time, but I don't expect it to last nearly as long as an older meter with a basic LCD display and user replaceable batteries.Update (April 2026): I've been using this meter for the past month or two. I really like it and it has worked flawlessly. The graphing function comes in handy sometimes to capture odd behavior on circuits. I've also used the amp clamp which is just about spot on with my Fieldpiece and Fluke meters. It also does a good job measuring capacitance and I've found it to match up with my other meters pretty closely. What I would say is, if I were using this professionally, I first wouldn't. However, if I had to, it would be a spare meter only. The build quality isn't something that I think would hold up as good as some of the other meters out there. However, for less demanding use cases, it's a great little meter. The display is easy to read, and the only thing I recommend you do is get into the settings and turn on the battery saver mode so you don't run the onboard battery down. With that said, I've found the battery life to be more than adequate of my particular meter.Ver másVer menos
