I Tried Really Hard to Overload It
I bought this iMac because my art studio is basically a converted laundry room that’s only about 73” x 68”. Space is limited, so I needed something that didn’t require a tower, extra monitors, or enough cables to lasso a small horse.Since buying it, I’ve been transferring an entire website, which means I regularly have two websites open at the same time, Canva running, AI open, images uploading and downloading, multiple browser windows, and enough tabs open to make most people uncomfortable.The crazy thing is that it doesn’t seem to care.No freezing. No lag. No spinning beach ball of doom. It just keeps going.I can bounce between Canva, website editing, image folders, AI, email, and whatever other project I’ve decided to create for myself without it missing a beat. At one point I actually stopped and thought, “Wait… shouldn’t this be struggling by now?”Nope.What surprised me even more is that it can run World of Warcraft just fine. I’m not buying an iMac as a gaming computer, but it’s nice knowing that when I want to take a break and wander around Azeroth for a bit, it handles it without any drama. Full disclosure: I’m Alliance. If you’re Horde, we can disagree about factions while still agreeing that this is a solid computer.One thing I didn’t expect to love as much as I do is how easy it is to move. Since everything is built into one unit, I can unplug it, carry it to another room, plug it back in, and keep working. Whether I want to work in my studio, at the kitchen table, or out on the screened porch, all I need is an outlet.Try doing that with a traditional desktop setup without feeling like you’re relocating a small business.I should probably admit that I’m biased. Our family uses Apple products almost exclusively. We have iPhones, iPads, and just about everything else Apple makes. That said, I’ve been using Apple products for years and haven’t had one fail me yet, which is a big reason I keep buying them.The best compliment I can give this computer is that I don’t think about it. It just works. Instead of fighting with my computer, I spend my time fighting with website layouts, pegboards, storage solutions, and whatever other project I’ve convinced myself will only take twenty minutes and somehow turns into three hours.So far, this has been one of those rare purchases that actually lives up to my expectations.Ver másVer menos
