Overall good product with a few small issues.

This may be a Too Long Didn't Read review but I am trying to share useful inofrmation for anyone who hasn't tried this product yet.The multi-packs (20 balls in a pack) are the way to go, for price and quanity. It is a soft, smooth texture. Lots of vibrant colors in the pack.Things to be aware of- the yarn is not a medium 4 weight yarn. It is a 3 weight leaning to a 2 weight, as the strand stretches it gets thinner. I tried the burn test to check for cotton and was proven right, that it melts. If there is cotton in this yarn it doesn't show.There were occassional knots in some of the balls of yarn but not all. I didn't have a problem with the knots. It happens in most yarns at some point. Were these points enough to make me dislike this yarn? Strangely, it did not.I happened to be looking for a 2 to 3 weight yarn for a light cardigan idea. I also wanted a variety of colors for a granny square motif. The project will take almost 200 small motifs, of which I have made the first 75. All is going well so far.Has the yarn broken or split yet? Not once. That was a pleasant surprise. It is a little bit splitty but not bad for a more experienced (not brand new to crochet) crocheter. I wouldn't recommend such thin, slightly splitty yarn to a unexperienced crocheter. The yarn is also prone to static electricity. Keep a damp paper towel near to neutralize it when it starts to make the yarn float. That trait is rather annoying.Something else that may affect how the yarn behaves is I am a left handed crocheter and the twist "may be" less likely to untwist because of that. I also used a ball winder to rewind each ball because I find the "doughnut" style skein tends to tangle when trying to center pull while working the yarn.Another observation about the 20 pack of yarn is that when I decided on how I was going to use the pack, there wasn't enough of any one color to be the main color/joining color to complete my cardigan idea. This made it necessary to purchase 2 of another variety pack to gain enough of the white/cream color I needed. Luckily the white/cream from the other packs did match.My suggestions for the product? Find a price point and stay close to it. Changing the cost every few months is off putting. Maybe have multiple skeins of the same color in a pack? Maybe 4 to 6 skeins? That would make it easier to buy more yarn of the color needed, instead of too much of other colors that you might not use. Also not all crocheters make amigurumi. We need more yardage of each color for larger items. Plus there are individual skeins available but the price is silly. No crafter wants to pay $6 to 7 dollars for a single, small amount of yarn.Would I buy the product again? I would. It felt like a challenge at first to see if it would be something I could work with and it turned out good. I will post some pictures of the burn test and the motifs I have made so you can see what it looks like used in an idea that isn't amigurumi. Ease of use on a scale of 1(poor) to 5(best) - about a 3.5 to 4. Very useable with awareness of potential issues such as knots, static electricity, prone to splitting, and limited yardage of each color.Below are pictures of my experience with this product.The first pictures of yarns with a burnt end was the experiment of me trying to find out the potential cotton content. As you can see, if there was cotton fiber, there would be ash instead of a melted lump. It feels like a chunk of plastic.The third picture is the motifs I am making for my project. I'm quite satisfied with them.The remaining 4 pictures show the size comparison between an actual US #4 weight yarn and the Katech #4 weight yarn. Picture #1 is the Katech motif on top of the US #4 motif (using the recommended hook for the US yarn); there is a definite size difference. Picture #2 is the Katech motif on top of the US #4 motif, made using the 4.5mm hook I'm creating the Katech motifs with. There is still a size difference, but it is less pronounced. From this you might be able to stretch the explanation of the Katech yarn to a #4. I find that too much of a stretch. It is a #3 weight, easily. I'm also satisfied with using this yarn as a #3 weight yarn. If you take into consideration these pieces of information and the other things I noticed about the yarn, this is a good product for the price paid and the quanity per pack.Happy crocheting/crafting/knitting with this yarn.
