Tapo 2K+ Pan/Tilt Security Camera for Pet Camera, Baby Monitor, C220 | Envi

Great quality camera
Fantastic camera especially for the price. This is a great value security/baby/nanny camera. The picture quality is amazing for both daytime and night vision along with volume controlled audio. The Tapo app makes it very easy and convenient to view a live feed, playback previous recordings and control the camera remotely. With just a tap in the app, users can adjust the camera angle 360 degrees horizontally and 114 degrees vertically. The motion detection is extremely precise. The moment motion is detected, a notification is sent immediately to your phone. One of my favorite features is the ability to enter and exit privacy mode from within the app. This allows the user to discontinue camera recording and turn it back on remotely which is helpful for when the camera is not needed. The only drawback I have seen with this camera is that there is a 30 day free trial to their cloud based recording platform. After this trial, users must subscribe to "Tapo Care" otherwise the camera will stop recording. Users can still use an external memory card or view the live feed without this subscription. There are monthly and yearly plans starting at $3.49/month for 1 device which I feel is reasonable. Overall, this is a great quality camera and very affordable. Definitely worth the purchase.Ver másVer menos

Excellent camera
I'm reviewing two variants of the camera below as Amazon did not allow me to separate the reviews for each product. This review is for the Tapo 2K QHD Camera:I would rate this camera as 5 stars.A wonderfully sharp picture. They do what I need. I have them in two rooms tracking movements, and detecting people. I have a small SD Card and record only movement. That works. It captures a few seconds before the movement starts and some time after the movement ends. I use the automation that stops the recording (privacy mode) when I'm home and starts it when I leave so that the sd cards will last longer, and the cameras aren't following me around when I'm in those rooms and so my housemates are not freaked out by the cameras. The cords are long (6 ft?). They are somewhat quiet when tracking. I plan on connecting them to Home Assistant. I have view the cameras using RSTP.The following review is for the Tapo 4K Camera:I would rate this camera as 4 to 5 stars. Note the limitation I mention below.A wonderfully sharp picture. I have it looking out my living room window. I set it to day mode to turn off the infrared to eliminate glare from the window. The street lights outside are enough to give me a meaningful image at night and the day picture is high quality. I also built a box around it so that only light that comes into the camera comes from outside. It does mostly what I need. I have it tracking movements, and detecting people. I record only movement. That works. It captures a few seconds before the movement starts and some time after the movement ends. The cord is long (6 ft?). It is somewhat quiet when tracking. I plan on connecting it to Home Assistant. I have viewed the camera using RSTP. The facial recognition has it recognizing myself, a housemate, and the landlord as they approach the house. They get about 10 to 15 feet of the camera looking out the window. Another housemate is not tracked. It seems he turns off the path before the camera is able to recognize his face consistently each day.My one disappointment is that on this camera, when I share the camera with others, and they install the Tapo App to make use of the shared camera, they are not able to get notifications from the Tapo App when it detects motion or people. (Other Tapo cameras do allow for notifications when viewing a shared camera on the Tapo app.) They are able to see a live view of the camera and see what has been recorded on the sd card on the camera. I am working on having a text message sent through Home Assistant or from my phone through Tasker to their phone when I get notified that a person is detected by the camera, so that they are notified as well.Ver másVer menos

Best cameras I've ever had for the money
These things are really great for what you're paying. I've been running 6 of them for about a year now. They pan/tilt and have ONVIF support so you can use them on NVRs that support it. Two of them I have set up to receive ONVIF commands from home assistant so they can pan and tilt on a schedule. While this is all going on, I still get the notifications on my phone and can watch remotely while I'm away. The downsides:They're wifi, so you have to have a strong 2.4ghz signal and that might not work for you.The built in "patrol" function isn't great because it doesn't let you limit the range of motion and timing. I use ONVIF commands to drive mine between presets on a schedule. Works perfectly. The app isn't very good for speaking from them. The speaker and mic are great, but the app just loves to disconnect from the calls.Ver másVer menos

Perfect for Keeping an Eye on Pets While You're Away
I bought this camera before going on vacation so I could check in on my Golden Retriever, Tucker, while I was away, and it ended up being one of the best purchases I made for the trip. The 2K video quality is sharp enough to clearly see what he was doing, even when I zoomed in. The pan and tilt controls worked smoothly, making it easy to follow him around the room, and the motion notifications gave me peace of mind without constantly checking the app.Setup was quick, the app was easy to use, and the connection stayed reliable the entire time I was away. I also like that I could check the live feed in just a few seconds whenever I wanted. If you're looking for an affordable indoor camera to keep an eye on your pets, kids, or even your home while you're away, I think this is an excellent choice. It offers a lot of features for the price, and I would absolutely buy it again.Ver másVer menos

Decent value for the price
The setup was a little tricky; I think it could have been greatly simplified. But overall, once you get through that, The camera itself is a decent value for the money. I did purchase a separate micro SD card (128GB) which is more than sufficient if you simply want to be notified for various events - cars, pets, people, etc. That part works fairly well and consume very little space on the card. The Tapo app itself is pretty decent and works okay.Ver másVer menos

Great peace of mind when pup is home alone
I’m not a big camera person, but our dog had a seizure a few weeks before we planned to leave the state. He had to stay behind with some friends that would be staying the night with him. Due to their work schedule he had to stay home alone for several hours during the day. Normally this would have been fine but I wanted to be able to check in on him throughout the day when they weren’t there. What a great peace of mind of this is! I added a large SD to record when the camera captured movement. It can ID “pet”, “bark” and “movement” along with other things. Those were the things I set to be alerted to. It didn’t fail at all the whole time we were gone. Unfortunately Tapo doesn’t let shared users to turn off and on the privacy mode, but I trust our friends enough so gave them my login. I wouldn’t recommend this to just anyone. It wasn’t hard to change the password when they left so it was fine as a work around. It’d be nice if they made an option for what controls a shared person could change. The camera zoom came in handy when I couldn’t figure out where our pup was, usually on my chair where I could only see part of him. It’s nice to be able to scan the room from another state. The picture is clear enough to suit our needs, but may not be ideal if an extremely clear video is needed. We never needed the night vision but I did mess with it before we left. Overnight I was able to see the cat being crazy and running around the living and dining rooms.I didn’t use the talk very often but I did use it to calm my buddy down shortly after we left and also had a couple convos with our dog sitters when they came in and the camera alerted me of movement. They said it was clear on their end and it was good on mine too. When we are home I just lift it up and turn it to face a wall because I’m paranoid. I still turn it on every time I leave for an extended period of time, which isn’t often. It makes leaving my furry best friend behind much easier since I can check in on him.Overall I highly recommend this camera for peace of mind if you need to check in on your pets while you’re not home. It was worth every penny and I’d buy again in a heartbeat.Ver másVer menos
