Better than metformin
The bottle says 1000mg capsules, but that is not true. They are 500mg and you have to take two of them to get 1000mg. Some people claim they had weight loss. I have been fighting weight gain instead. However, one good thing is that it was quite remarkable at lowering my glucose. Several times now my glucose has been so low that I had to skip my insulin. I noticed an average of 100 to 200 points less than before on average. Years ago I tried metformin in which I had an average BG of 400-500 points with a high of 1100 and a bout of lactic acidosis. Switching to glipizide + insulin, my BG went down to 300-400 on average. However, with berberine 500mg daily it runs about 200-250. At 200 I skip my insulin so I don't crash with the glipizide. As far as side effects, it is a fact that it causes GI pain and discomfort for a few days while you get used to it. Oddly, metformin never caused me any GI problems.Ver másVer menos
