It lets you know how your body is responding to your diet and exercise.

I purchased this item about six months ago. Had a lot of problems with it. I talked with a company representative who was fantastic. Shipped out a replacement immediately . I have been using it daily and the smart scale has been great. The fact that it measures so many categories is beneficial. I discovered that I favored my right side as per the fat and muscle monitoring. I then begin placing more attention (increasing the number of reps when exercising) to my right arm and leg. After several weeks my right side became balanced with the left. It also served as a warning to me when I failed to consume enough water for what I was doing. I found that monitoring a multitude of body functions helped me to avoid the dreaded plateau and identify potential problems such as muscle imbalance between my left and right side.Also, a very important factor for any consumer is being able to contact a company representative in a reasonable time. I always got a reply, usually with hours. I highly recommend this company. Works great at a fraction of the price of the hospital model

Last year, I began working with the Orlando Health Program for Health Improvement. Testing over several months, they used a professional body composition analyzer to measure my progress. I was intrigued by this and decided to find a home model for me. After a LOT of research and YouTube videos, I chose the RunStar Smart Full Body Composition Scale (FG2015ULB).After it arrived, I found it was very easy to set up and the Starfit app paired immediately with my iPhone. I had my first report fifteen minutes after unboxing it!Having the Orlando Health report from three months earlier to compare, I was amazed to discover how close the figures from the RunStar were to the $2,000+ pro unit. Reading the reviews informed me of the importance of taking the readings under the same conditions to get consistent results; same time of day, 1 hour after workout, proper hydration, etc. The main point is the RunStar delivered a comprehensive report which will allow me to check my physical well-being as I age. Works fairly well, but has some quirks, consider what you need

I decided that I wanted a scale that would not only weigh me, but also measure muscle mass because when I lift weights for as little as 20 minutes, and use the treadmill for an hour, the lifting seems to cancel any effects on weight loss caused by the cardio. I knew that impedance measurements wouldn't be super accurate, but if they were consistent, it might be helpful. It takes quite a while to see the results of lifting weights, so I thought some feedback would be useful.First, I bought this scale for the color readout, despite not liking the gold colored plates. I probably should have bought one with the silver plates and the monochromatic read out. That's on me. I'm just saying that the gold looks tacky, especially in a gray bathroom.Next, I thought I was buying a scale accurate to one tenth of a pound. I was replacing a scale accurate to .5 pounds. But no, this ONLY measures weight in .2 pound increments, AND if you try to repeat the measurement, it may be OFF by .2, so while an improvement over my old scale, it's still disappointing. However, I later realized they claimed .2 pound accuracy, so I was mistaken looking for .1 pound. My error.One thing I tried to find out before buying this scale was how long it would store values. Since it works with an app on your phone, and your phone has to be on and the app waiting to connect, I wanted to know how long it would keep data. There were lots of nice videos that all said the same thing, and didn't address this. I have had this for 89 days currently, which it notes, and I can see recent weights (and all the other measurements) for 8 days, or I can choose to see measurements for the week, month, or year, and the year currently goes from 2025 to 2032, so we'll see, but I assume it will work for 7 or 8 years. I probably won't come back here to update everyone in 8 years. LOL.If you want to see the results per week, you can only see about 5 weeks BUT you can scroll sideways, so that's pretty nice. And in general I like the idea of comparisons at the month level.Another thing that I found that I absolutely did not like, is that in the first few days, the weight measurement showed a spike of something like 5 pounds in one day! Obviously, this didn't happen, so I lost a lot of confidence in this device. Within a few more days that spike disappeared, and in some ways that was worse (!), because now I didn't trust it to actually store the correct value. I haven't noticed that since then, but I suspect from some of the other many readings that it may be smoothing values. I'm pretty sure the algorithms for body water, skeletal muscle, body fat mass, and so forth are doing the best they can, but I'm not sure they're particularly accurate. There are 14 of them. Of course how can you compare how hydrated you THINK you are with what the scale is saying?After 89 days of listening to "in excelsis deo" and some random notes afterward, I'm tempted to turn off the sound. However, even though any tune would be annoying day after day, I do want to know when it has transferred all the measurements to the phone. Maybe when it lights up on the hand control it's done and I can skip the music.Another annoying thing about this is that to turn it on you have to step on it. OK, fine. I did that for the first week or so and it showed me .20 instead of .00. What does that mean? It didn't appear to be stabilized, but was it going to subtract .2 or maybe add .2? It was a mystery. I eventually learned to partially step in the center, not either side, to get it to wake up and stabilize consistently at .00 as you would expect.But wait! Once you get it turned on and stabilized, you have to get on it, and then bend down to pick up the hand held read out and hand connections. What's so hard about that? Well, you can't put this scale close to the wall because you need room for your head when you're on the scale and bending over to pick up that read out! So you either have to move the scale from against the wall to the middle of the floor, or else leave it far enough from the wall so you don't crack your head bending over. Of course if I stop measuring everything, I guess I could just use it as a scale. I keep using it the way it was intended. A lot of the variations went away after using it for some time, so...not bad.I haven't had an issue with the battery, to the point where I don't remember what kind of batteries it uses or whether it can be recharged--I'm sure the description covers that. I would hope that I get some warning because my bathroom is three floors above where we store batteries in the basement.And finally, a warning. In the last 89 days it says I have GAINED 2.6 pounds! Since the only thing I changed was my scale, I can only conclude that the scale is causing me to gain weight! LOL. OK, maybe I can't blame the scale for that.Conclusion: if you are interested in how your workouts MIGHT be affecting your body, this MIGHT be a good choice. At least you'll have some data that you can look at and think about. It's not as accurate as I had hoped, but it's not bad, better than my 30-year-old electronic scale. It's a little cumbersome to use IMO, but not terrible, either. So, recommended with a few reservations.Edit after 6 months: the first week there was a day where the recorded weight was more than a pound off from the scale reading, but that didn't happen again. I continued to use old school paper to record my daily weight, so it was clear that the amount in the app had changed. Some of the other readings took unusual dips or spikes that seemed unrelated to the previous day's activity. Then, about 5 months into using this I started noticing that the amount on the scale and the amount on the app differed. At one point it was a .6 pounds difference, but there were readings that were more than a pound off. Now the amounts seldom match. I also felt that using this for 6 months was too long to return it.Finally, I decided that perhaps I didn't need or want the many measurements that it provides, and that using it as a regular scale was probably good enough. You might want to try the many readings at first though, keeping in mind they're not going to be as accurate as a medical device--we're not paying those kinds of prices, either. My smart watch cost a fraction of a medical ECG or EKG, so I don't expect super accuracy there, either. After further thought, I raised my rating to 4 stars because I think you're getting an OK scale, but I think you have to have reasonable expectations about the accuracy of both the weight and the other measurements, and you have to decide whether you're going to accept the scale or the app for the reading when and if they differ.

Very good for a weight scale

I was a bit skeptical because I previously had a Withings scale, which was nice, but ate up batteries like no tomorrow. This is great because you can charge the battery via USB. I got Dexa scan a few years ago and the fat percentage is a bit higher than the scale, but it could immediately tell that I’m left-handed and the mass is on par, so I’m happy with its accuracy .Ver más

Good Scale & Great Customer Service

The scale is nice, it has a lot of options to track. It also knows if the weight it’s recording is yours or someone else’s and will ask for confirmation if there is a significant change since the last time weight was measured. Also plays a short tune to let you know it’s working on other measurements while you’re standing on the scale however, if you’re just looking for a weight, you don’t have to wait until the whole music is done. I had questions & had to contact customer service and they were very helpful.Ver más
