Shell and head are 100% all-weather synthetic material, so they won't expand or contract with changes in weather which can affect tuning and longevity. This material also resists dents/scratches and cuts down weight. It's easy to get thumping bass and crisp slap tones that carry across distance. Strike the center of the head with your palm for bass and near the rim with the length of your fingers for high-pitched slaps. Includes a tuning wrench to make quick adjustments or head changes if needed—tighten the steel tension rods for a higher pitch and loosen them to drop pitch (djembe comes pre-tuned). The shell measures 12" wide x 24" tall and weighs about 8 lbs; head measures 12" with a 10" playing area (head is slightly larger than the playing area because it wraps around and down the rim).
