Used for security cameras
I decided to go wired for my IP cameras around the house and needed some long ethernet cables. Amazon Basics always has to pass certifications for what they sell.. be it charging cables (they make the best charging cables money can buy) or Ethernet cables.I've had absolutely zero issues with these cables and my cameras. No loss of packets. No drop outs. No interference, despite my tangled mess of cables at my TL-SG108 I have going on for the time being.Will buy more when the time comes. I bought the flat ones to hide them easier, go under doors, etc. Great quality cables.Update 12/21/23All cables are still working perfectly fine. Most of them are being pinned under doors that are opened/closed several times a day. Zero damage done as of yet. I haven't had time to TRULY cable manage these things the way I want to, however, they've taken the abuse I've thrown at them and all of my IP Cameras are still working without any issues. No disconnects or drops in speed.Definitely would buy again (and will buy again when I add more cameras to my property).As an ETHICAL penetration tester, I just prefer wired over wireless. So, that's why I use Ethernet cables for my home security set up. My router's Wi-Fi is turned off. This is an off line security system that needs to stay running and not be "messed with" by curious neighbors. I can say that. I'm a curious neighbor myself ;-) But at least I'm ethical and have never even attempted to hack a near by network, despite easily being able to. Wi-Fi is far too easy to hack. Not going to name the tools and encryption crackers, but with Ethernet, the only way you're getting hacked is if someone physically forces their way in and then plugs a cable to their PC/laptop.In summary, whenever possible, go wired. There is no encryption safe for Wi-Fi that can't be cracked. 8 letter encrypted password? An Nvidia 4080 can crack that in under 10 seconds. One can grab that encrypted password without even being on your network (wireless radiotapping). I hacked my own network in less than 60 seconds lol... without even connecting to my Wi-Fi.So, yes, buy cables. Buy THESE cables if you need to route them through tight spaces, otherwise, there's no real need for thin cables. These are high quality and shielded well enough to block out interference.Oh, last thing, Amazon Basics are a very high quality name brand. They have to.. HAVE to pass stringent testing to meet the specs they claim unlike so many other companies on here.If it says Cat 7 Patch Cable, then you better believe it meets all the quality control (shielded/twisted wires) that a Cat 7 Patch Cable is supposed to have. Same with charging cables. Amazon Basics makes the BEST charging cables. 90 watt rated charging cable?
