I've been using Norton 360 Deluxe 2023 antivirus software for my devices for the past six years, and it has consistently provided reliable protection against various cyber threats. While the software itself offers excellent security features, the only downside lies in the high renewal fees. Great value for what you get

Easy to set up. Great value for all the benefits offered for the computer. Functions great. Good security and great features. Would recommend to any computer user.

Used for 1 year, will not be renewing

Pros:I guess are if you like an antivirus that is constantly showing up on your screen at random, this is the one for you. Also the customer support agent I spoke with was professionalCons:Personally it provided more stress and less peace of mind than any other antivirus I have used for the following reasons;It has a ton of pop ups usually to push new products several times a month no matter how many times you click on ' don't show this'It randomly opens ALL browsers you have installed to push new products and creates shortcuts on your screen no matter how many times you delete them. I expect this kind of behavior from a virus, not an antivirus!It doesn't provide easy opt out options in the settings to opt out of all the constant invasive pop-ups that you manually have to closeThe vpn doesn't work for some countries and I only found out after calling customer support to ask why it was not working. This information isn't provided before you make the purchaseThe most annoying thing for me was the recent email I received where the visible part of the subject was "Enjoy peace of mind with your cyber safety protection." Innocent enough, right? Well since I've had such a horrific experience with them, I take no chances and open all emails just to see what they're about. This one, with the lovely heading, was informing me that they would be charging my card A MONTH before my antivirus is to expire ( why?? and why the vague email subject??). The new subscription is expensive at $104 .Basically if I hadn't opened this seemingly innocent email, I'd have seen a surprise charge on my card and had to chase a refund (I don't even want to imagine what this is like). It feels as though they wear you out by taking over your pc/ laptop, you probably won't open an email that seems so harmless. They could choose to use a more accurate email subject like "subscription renewal information" but they clearly choose not to, which to me appears somewhat deceptive to me.The details on how you can cancel the renewal are in the fine-print section of the email! Hidden somewhere in the middle of a large paragraph of the smallest text that most people would not read. And they require that go to the settings window on your computer to cancel it. No simple 'cancel renewal' option in the email.Also for an antivirus company that's supposed to be keeping me safe, I was referred to as 'Blank" in the email, instead of referring to me by my name. It is a small issue but seems careless for a company that is supposed to be detail oriented so as to keep me safe. There are easy ways to personalize emails even when sending to a large number of people so this just felt lazy to me.Overall:A good antivirus should work quietly in the background and only send notifications when necessary/ instructed to, not taking over your system to push useless pop ups, open browsers, and create random shortcuts like viruses do. This feels very predatory!I'm going to be canceling this immediately and going a different direction. I 100% will not be buying another Norton product ever again. Lesson learnt.I almost feel bad for leaving this review but I really hope it will help someone, and if they company sees it, that they will work on their issued and improve their services.

If renewing, I'd recommend the keycode version and CANCEL AUTO-RENEWAL

Norton's a great product, consistently rated at or close to the top for malware protection. I've used it for many years and never had a problem. A large part of this is observing best practice/common sense things like not clicking on sketchy links in spam texts and emails, avoiding sketchy sites and using critical thinking. I also use Firefox with the uBlock Origin, NoScript and Privacy badger plug-ins which helps. A lot. An antivirus product alone won't protect you from carelessness.Now the annoying stuff: For a long time, auto-renewal has been an issue. For example, when renewing directly from Norton or plugging in a new key purchased from Amazon for example, TURN OFF AUTO RENEWAL IMMEDIATELY after changing keys or doing a clean install. Typically if not always, it turns on by default.When I checked this morning in Norton's site, the renewal cost was ~$29.00 for one year. Next year it would have been ~$124.00 (!) for one year when it auto-renewed. If it had only been a few bucks, ok. It wasn't obviously so I'm comfortable in saying that while technically not a scam given that they make this clear, it's super shady and will impact only the vulnerable and those who aren't paying attention. Shame on you Norton.AI's s incorporated into the product and may help with fending off some types of attacks. Virtually impossible to know what it's up to though, the extent of it's data mining of your devices and how that data's protected. There are quite a few other add-ons and features which may or may not be value added for everyone. A software updater and a vpn for example. Most are up-sells that may or may not be value added for everyone. Best to read through and decide if they're worth the cost.Pop-ups seem to be slightly less of an issue than they were a couple years ago but you'll still get them. Best to log-in to your Norton account, run through the various settings before settling in and letting Norton do it's thing.Before renewing, I'd recommend looking at alternatives to Norton. Things change rapidly in this world and now with AI initiatives around the world, the battleground has become a lot hotter. Best to investigate before committing to a year of service. AV-Comparitives is my go-to before renewing. Good starting point when trying to decide which product will best serve your needs. Focus on the virus detection rate first when reading reviews in other sites. In some reviews from other publications, add-ons seem to influence ratings at the expense of the most important aspect - malware detection. Avoid anything with foreign ownership before you fully understand their history.So, excellent antivirus product but not without a few annoyances. Can't have everything I suppose. Happy customer - for now.
