Great budget game controller for PC and Switch

First, I should say that I'm not a gamer, but since my son got me addicted to Rocket League, I needed a controller to use that is better than the Switch Joy-Cons. I first bought a different cheap controller, and that worked well. When the Switch had to go in for repairs, I tried using it with a PC, but it only had Bluetooth, so had to be tethered via USB, and it suffered from disconnection problems, usually at the worst time during a game. Then I found this GameSir T4 pro controller, which had good reviews and could go wireless with a PC, so I decided to try it out.It worked great with the PC, using the 2.4Ghz dongle! When we got the Switch back, I tried it with that, and that worked great as well, using the Bluetooth connection. The overall quality of the controller is also better than my old one; it has smooth throttle triggers instead of the clicky ones, and better joysticks, which allows me to have finer control over my gameplay. I found I improved my play just by switching controllers, because I was able to more consistently hit shots that I would normally miss.A few points I should note:- This controller uses different button combinations to pair with the 2.4Ghz dongle vs. pairing with Switch, which are also different than than pressing the L R buttons like other controllers. Not a big deal, but something you have to remember if you switch it between devices.- The position of the A+B, X+Y buttons are typical for a PC controller, but it adapts to the standard Switch layout when paired to a Switch, so A becomes B, X becomes Y, and vice versa. On one hand, this is good for Switch users, except now you can't go just by the letters on the buttons. On the other hand, if you play the same game on Switch and PC, and you developed muscle memory and want to keep the same layout on both platforms, you will probably have to remap the buttons in software. (Easy to do in Rocket League.)- The bottom switches are pretty easy to press accidentally; it takes a little while to get used to it so you don't accidentally press them.- The battery lasts a surprisingly long time.Overall, really happy with the quality and capability of this controller.Ver más

Pretty amazing for the price (Get the T4 PRO model though!)

For half the price of any flagship console controller, this little guy delivers a LOT of value. I don't usually do unboxing photos or demo videos, but as an engineer myself I could tell this company put a lot of thought and care into this product and I'd like others to see that too.It works with PC, iOS/Android, and Nintendo Switch. There are 3 connectivity options:- Bluetooth (for mobile and Switch, and possibly PC too but I haven't tested)- Wireless via USB dongle (PC only)- Direct wired via USB-C cable (PC only)I find it pretty incredible there is a wired option, as most companies (think Logitech, Sony) will drop wired support as soon as they add a wireless interface, leaving the port inert and for charging only.In the box there's a bunch of stuff, including a phone-holder attachment, USB-C cable (fair warning, it's just 3-4ft long), dongle, manual, stickers, warranty info, and a sweet note from the CEO:)In regards to build quality, I was worried that it would feel like some cheap junk but it's actually pretty comfortable, has a reasonable weight, and solidly constructed. Zero flex or creaking when subjected to any amount of torsion.Anyway check it out! Personally I bought it for Rocket League, as I discovered keyboard+mouse control is horribly unintuitive for this game (although I normally prefer KBM for any other game). Works well.Final note - in other comments/QA you might see some complaints that it's not really wireless or bluetooth. That's because they got the wrong version - be sure to select the T4 Pro option not the wired one. It is worth the few dollars extra, and that's the model I have based my review on.Ver más

Connection and Platform Compatibility

I purchased the GameSir T4 Pro because I already had a GameSir G3W and really liked the build quality, but wanted something wireless. I also wanted a full-sized controller with a few extra buttons. The two additional trigger buttons under the controller work well for N64 and Genesis emulation, as well as FPS games.Personally, I wish the controller were a little bigger. I previously purchased a SteelSeries Nimbus I returned almost immediately because it was far too small to fit my hands. Comparatively, the GameSir T4 Pro is more comfortable. Back when I was a teenager, I used to really dislike huge controllers - like the Dreamcast, original Xbox, and Sega Saturn controllers. They all felt like unwieldy platters I'd sooner eat off of than use as game pads, but even back when I had smaller hands, I could get used to them. As an adult, there's no getting used to controllers which are too small; the result is always accidental button presses and impercise control. While the GameSir T4 has required some getting-used-to, inaccuracy hasn't been a problem.Build quality is excellent - just like the G3W. The plastic is thick and the controller doesn't bend under stress. The button action is smooth, analog sticks are solid and don't drift, and the Dpad is very high quality. One thing I've always noticed with most 3rd party controllers is that the buttons generally slide around or stick in place. That's not a problem on Gamesir controllers. My only two gripes are that the RB and LB shoulder buttons are placed a little too high for easy access, and the M1 and M2 buttons underneath the controller are very clicky.Okay, I have one more gripe actually; Compatibility. I purchased the M4 to pair with an Nvidia Shield TV Pro, and while it does connect, it's pretty finicky. While the T4 Pro does list compatibility with Windows, Mac, Android, and Nintendo Switch, each connection is achieved in different ways, which can be a bit complicated. It actually comes with a radio frequency USB dongle that has to be plugged into Android devices to connect. That's not an issue with my Nvidia Shield because it features standard USB ports, but compatibility over Bluetooth will highly depend on which version of Android your device runs, and the included USB dongle may be troublesome for folks wanting to use the T4 Pro with a smartphone running a recent version of Android.I've also noticed that despite a full battery and connection to the RF dongle, disconnects are pretty frequent. If you set the controller down for more than a couple of minutes between game titles, it'll completely disconnect and need to be resynced. That wouldn't be an issue if the controller featured a quick-connect button, but GameSir has opted to use cryptic button combos to turn on the controller and connect it with various platforms. Each platform requires a different button combination, and it's tough to keep those memorized when swapping between Android, Windows, and game consoles like the Nintendo Switch. I think it's pretty rad the T4 Pro is compatible with so many different platforms, but getting the controller connected and keeping it connected are a bit of an annoyance.I've got to say, though - I was surprised when I opened the box and found out the T4 Pro does indeed include a USB-C charging cable. That's one of the many reasons I've returned previous controllers. If I'm spending $35-50 on a game controller, I don't want to make a second trip to the store for an additional $20 charging cable. Kudos, GameSir! Thank you for being considerate!The Gist: All things considered, I think the GameSir T4 Pro is an incredibly well-built controller and features an attention to detail rarely found in other 3rd party game pads. I could easily be fooled into thinking the T4 Pro was manufactured by a 1st party company like Nintendo, Sony, or Microsoft; it feels that good.Connecting the controller could be easier, and it'd be nice if the RF could work across the 5GHz band since 2.4GHz is usually pretty saturated in tech-savvy households, but I can't say I've ever experienced a disconnect mid-game. I have noticed some input lag on specific platforms like Android, but I believe that has more to do with my Android devices then the controller itself.It's neat that the T4 Pro supports built-in button-remapping on specific platforms, but good luck doing that without reading the manual every time. I would suspect most players are going to opt for a software remapping solution instead. I do find it a bit troublesome that there's a potentiality slipping and hitting the wrong combination of buttons while in a game could result in accidental button remapping. What's worse is that once the controller is accidentally reprogrammed, there's no simple button combination to reverse the effect.If you're on-the-fence about a purchase, I would highly recommend GameSir's entire product line; not just the T4 Pro. I've purchased multiple controllers from GameSir, and they've all been a joy to use.

This isn't the 90's era of "3rd party controllers" anymore

So I use these controllers with my phone (Android) and with the Nintendo Switch. I originally just bought one (for the android) but I figured I'd like to get one to hook up to the switch in case the joy-cons start acting up. Well, they started acting up.The thing about this is that the controllers themselves feel very sturdy. They also don't suffer from drifting, and they "stay connected" without un-syncing unlike me joy-cons that I have. After awhile I bought another controller (same model) just because when we play co-op/two player mode, it's nice to have a working controller for everyone!Pro: It's a nice controller, and performs better than the standard joy-cons that cost considerable more.Con: Having them "sync" to the switch takes about 30 seconds, which isn't a big deal but hey, it's 30 seconds you'd probably would want to play your game (rather than pressing a combination of buttons for the switch to connect to your controller).Pro: The shape of the controller is very comfortableCon: The buttons for X,Y,A,B are not the same compared to the switch controllers, so you'll have to re-wire your brain.Pro: you'll have to rewire your brain to realize that when the screen says "press A" you have to think, look down on the controller, and realize that no... you need to "press B" and then you press A anyway because of muscle memory, but now you must repeat the dialog string again and you keep jamming the same button until the owl says "do you want me to go over this again" and now you recognize the errors in your ways, so then you press "B" but then you press the wrong button because for some reason your brain can't handle a double negative and then you need to go through the same dialog tree YET AGAIN until you, for the third time now, get to the point where the owl says "do you want me to go over this again" and you pause. You pause the game and take a deep breath and walk away, realizing that there is more to life then just playing a video game, that variety is the spice of life and that maybe it's ok to just go to be early and have a nice rest, and wake up refreshed and do grown-up things like gardening and paying your taxes early. Eventually you'll become a functional adult and that everything is going to be alright.Con: May promote an existential crisisConclusion: 5 stars.

Ridiculously Great Controller for Price!!

Gamesir T4 Pro Review*This review is written from a PC Gamer's perspective*This controller is a really great controller for it's price (especially at $30)!For some gameplay background, I play Apex Legends, Fortnite, and Warzone on PC.Part 1. ConnectionStarting with the connection types on PC: This works with 2.4Ghz or USB Type-C wired. Primarily, I used the 2.4Ghz method and noticed zero input lag just like wireless gaming mice on the market. To first pair/use 2.4Ghz, you have to press the X+Home button and the controller will pair to the USB dongle. It's very easy to set up and you do not have to anything else after that as it will remember the connection.Part 2. Back Paddles/ButtonsThe back paddles are placed in a very good spot as your fingers naturally rest on the back paddles. Using the manual, I mapped my M1-M4 buttons to assist me in building on fortnite and crouch/abilities on Apex/Warzone. You can map the buttons to be a single input press or macro. The face buttons are bit on the harder side and takes a bit more effort to press in than a regular Xbox Series S controller.Part 3. Analog SticksThe analog sticks feel very light to move around and have zero stick drift/deadzone issues. I used the built in Windows tester and everything passed. My analog sticks came perfect as they don't wiggle at all.Part 4. TriggersThe triggers feel much faster than a regular Xbox Series S controller, they have about half the travel when pushing down on them and curve much higher to give more grip.Part 5. PriceCurrently, this controller is $30 and the price is very very good for what you get. You get the controller, a USB Type-C cable, phone mount, manual, and stickers.Conclusion, I was debating whether or not to get a Xbox PowerA enhanced controller because I was primarily looking for a controller with back paddles/buttons. I came across this GameSir T4 Pro and thought I'd give it a try. To me, it's 5/5 controller in terms of price, what you get, and features. Nothing beats this controller if you're looking for *wireless, back paddles, multi-platform, and on a budget*. This was not a paid or sponsored review as I used my own personal money for this, however, I will be purchasing a second controller as a backup due to it's limited deal of $30.Ver más

AppleTV / Arcade Game Controller

I don't play computer games. However, I do have a bundled subscription that includes Apple Arcade and an Apple TV, so wanted to give it a try. I consider myself a tech-person, but not particularly interested in computer games. Some of my insights:Cons first--1) It was difficult to pair the controller with my Apple TV. The included directions are not clear. But I did manage it, using Bluetooth as an X-Box Controller device. Many folks may have otherwise given up without proper directions. This takes a star off.2) The box contained a card for 6 mo. extended warranty, as a QR code to a registration page. No matter how many times I tried, it never worked. So it is unclear if this device is covered as 1 mo. or extended as 6 mo. And this takes a star off.Pros--3) The device is well-constructed, well designed, and functions as described, but my experience is limited, so I can only offer that it is somewhat uncomfortable to use after an hour or two of playing a few games on Apple Arcade. However, everything I tried worked, including those games that only function using a game controller. Gives a star.4) The packaging is good and the device arrived on time and in good condition. Gives a star.5) The price was under $30 so a low-risk purchase-- to test out Apple Arcade games using a game controller. If it continues to work I will consider it worth the money even if I don't use it much. If it stops working within the 6 mo. (unregistered extended?) warranty period and I can't get any support from GameSir, then I will edit my review downward. Otherwise, for the price and for those rainy days when I feel like wasting time playing computer games, it seems a keeper.Overall, I would recommend taking a risk on this game controller if you use Apple products including an Apple TV and Apple Arcade.
