  The usual New Balance comfort and quality

  I bought these 997H models to replace my aging NB 813 shoes that I wore for more years than I can remember. I’ve been wearing NB exclusively for many years now because they fit well and hold up better than other brands, while also offering better lateral support. I wear Good Feet orthotics, and it took a little effort to insert them in the new shoes. New shoes tend to be tight until they settle in a bit. Unfortunately, on the second day the orthotics started to squeak. I previously owned 3 pair of NB 813s and one out of the 3 squeaked while the other 2 remained silent. I didn’t want to live with the squeak again, so I searched for a remedy. First I tried sone talcum powder under the orthotics, which worked ok for maybe 10 minutes. Then I tried putting the orthotics on top of the insoles instead of underneath them, which worked perfectly until I went to take the shoes off and my socks caught on the front edge of the orthotics and locked my feet in the shoes. Then I had a true inspiration; I took the insoles out of my old 813s and put them in the new shoes, slipped the orthotics into the shoes and laid the new insoles on top of the orthotics. Voilà! The squeak is gone! I expect to be comfortably wearing these new NBs for several years to come. Read moreVer másVer menos
