Good investment, GREAT customer support
***Edit***Product had an issue with internal hardware failure as of November 2019, some 6 months after initial purchase. I contacted APC support one day later, and had a replacement unit free of charge 4 days after my initial unit's failure. I was treated very well by customer support and will continue to recommend APC's products as they will stand by their products warranties and will ensure their customers are taken care of. Very happy that I purchased this product from APC, even if my particular unit experienced an uncommon failure.***End Edit***Surge protection and battery backup for my personal computer at home. So far I have only needed the battery backup once for a power outage, and it handled it like a champ. Power went out, but my computer stayed on to allow me to save my work and shut down properly. The on screen display showed me that, with my current hardware could run on the battery for about 40 minutes before shutting down, which is great.I'm sure that this will prove to be a good investment moving forward.Ver másVer menos

Reliable UPS
replaced a failed BX1000M so it was the perfect item. The old one needed a new battery and the red connecting lug broke off while installing a replacement. Otherwise the BX1000M had been a good unit.

Good UPS but bigger than it needs to be
This is a good UPS with lots of features at a reasonable price.The display can show the load in watts, line in/ line out voltage, battery charge, and projected run time. You can also lock this display on a single function (like the load) so you don't have to click through the display to view it.The battery is the BX1000M form factor, a little bigger/blockier than the usual NP7-12 batteries that are very common in UPS devices. The BX1000M is a 9AH battery compared to the 7AH you get from the NP7-12 batteries, so that's a good thing as it should provide a longer run time for a given load.The UPS has 4 battery-backed outlets for the PC, monitor, etc, and 4 regular outlets as well for non-critical devices. There is also a set of Ethernet in/out jacks on the back for network surge protection and set of surge protected coax connectors for older network cables.The UPS has a power line fault LED so you'll know if your building wiring is correct or not. You can load software on a PC and monitor the UPS parameters locally (but not remotely over the network). I don't see the point of this, frankly.My only real gripe is that it's quite a bit bigger than it needs to be. This seems to be a trend in UPS manufacturers, but still...the whole UPS could be about 50% smaller than it actually is.All in all I think this is a good value for what it costs (~$115); time will tell if it lasts.Ver másVer menos

No contest…just get it!
So I have purchased dozens of these (not kidding) over the years for my clients, family and friends. Being an IT professional, I get asked a lot, “What do you use?”. A UPS in the 1500VA class. I just plug ONE monitor and the PC into the BATTERY side and everything else in the SURGE ONLY side. This makes sure you have the most juice for the important part - shutting down your PC gracefully. If you’re not home, it will at least ensure you have enough juice to power your PC in sleep mode for at least 20-40 minutes. The power may return before this but the software available with these (using the USB connection) will sense the power outage and use whatever juice it has stored to shutdown the PC gracefully. These are not really good for keeping gaming machines alive for a few hours while the power is out. Chances are, the Internet feed you are using will be out as well! If you have a generator that kicks in, these are perfect for keeping power surges and spikes off the equipment and keeping things running until the generator kicks in. The batteries should last at least a year or two depending on the temperatures at which they are used (hotter is worse) but are readily available these days - usually 700-900 Amp hour batteries.Ver másVer menos
