Great value for hi-fi Bluetooth streaming

I bought this unit after doing some research on the hi-fi forums and seeing a few mentions of this product as being a good choice for people who stream from their mobile devices. My main music source is my phone with Amazon Music HD so I didn’t need a full DAC with multiple component inputs on the back. The Auris arrived quickly, packaging was great, and installation was very straight forward with my integrated amp, a Marantz PM8006. I’ve been using the Auris for a week now and performance has been flawless. I really like that it works great even if you leave it turned on all the time. With other Bluetooth devices, I sometimes find that leaving it on all the time can cause a buffering problem that results in a ‘skipping’ sound during playback. Usually a power cycle will fix it but it’s annoying and I have seen this with multiple brands. With this Auris, however, none of that happens. The connection is very stable even when the unit is left on for days and has multiple devices connecting to it, and the operating distance is crazy good. Seriously, this thing can stayed connected and sound good at a surprising distance. Sound quality is also very good to my ears, especially when playing music at 24-bit. I don’t have any audio sources that go higher than 24-bit so can’t comment on performance there. Overall, a great value especially if you want good sound from your phone or tablet but don’t need all the features, cost and bulk of a full DAC.Ver más

Sounds Fantastic

I was very surprised to get this quality of sound from a bluetooth receiver that only cost $100.00. Setup and installation was so simple a 5 year old could do it. I will tell you though that the quality of sound you get from it is only as good as the audio equipment you connect it to. If you are using a weak amp or receiver and cheap speakers you are not going to get great sound. But a quality amp or receiver and quality speakers connected to this streamer will give you outstanding audio. The unit is very small but don't let that fool you. Great things can come in small packages.Ver más

Audiophile BT Receiver, steal for the price.

I was looking for a Bluetooth DAC to stream music on my system in a dedicated listening room. I do know that Bluetooth is not really hi-rez. But with newer tech like aptX that companies like Arcam use, the sound fidelity has gotten much better. One another limitation in my system was that it is has a "passive" preamp. So the source (like CDP or DVD players or HR Receiver) need to have a healthy voltage to drive the amp. This unit checked out on all my requirements:AKM DAC2V outputaptXRCA outOptical outI had not heard of this unit till I did a serious search on the internet for Bluetooth(BT). I compared the specs to some BT DACs upto $500 and this one was all that i was needed. Nevertheless, I was a bit skeptic from my previous experience using a Logitech BT, which had a very low output voltage. The sound was anemic in my passive system. Amazon shipped the unit pretty fast and I did not waste time to hook it up in my main system. I used a Samsung Tab A to stream songs from FolkAlley and Spotify. When the first notes from Folk Alley came on, I was AMAZED. Yes, this perfectly suited my system. All I have to do is set the BT volume on the tablet to FULL. If a user is using a regular receiver or integrated amplifier, you probably will have the BT set to only 50% of the volume, since the built-in preamplifier in your receiver/amp will amplify the sound to necessary volume. Connection is stable and I have tried to connect to this unit via the Samsung Tab A from 2 floors up. My listening room is in the basement. I have to be on the stairs between first and second floor to get a connection.Had some friends over and pairing was very simple. Though they are now music enthusiasts like me, they were amazed to hear how their Spotify music sounds in a dedicated listening room. I could not do this previously since my system is passive and lacked a BT receiver.Soundwise, it sounds phenomenal for a BT Receiver. The DACs are the same as in some megabuck dedicated CD/SACD players. I use the free Spotify and not the premium version. So cannot comment on really hi-rez streaming. But I am so happy with the sound quality, that I decided to give this unit a shout-out using the Amazon review. I did forgot to mention that this unit feels "solid" and not like cheap plastic. So you get the ownership pride too. I wish I was aware of this product when the kickstarter project kicked off.Now for the negative:The biggest gripe is, the beautifully boxed device comes with everything as mentioned on their website, EXCEPT for the USB charger that goes into the power outlet. I really did not understand why this pas not included.As for the authenticity of my "ears" and experience, you can checkout my system at the link below and judge my review:[...]I went with the Black version, since it gels well in my system. Superior performance at a fair price.

A vast improvement over the little Monster brand receiver I had been using to connect my laptop to my stereo. High quality sound and better volume. Clear instructions, but not really needed. Had to make some adjustments to my 2025 HP computer but nothing unexpected. If you have any problems it will be in the computer, not the receiver. We stream classical music all day and evening without a hitch or glitch.Ver más

Great sounding, but can “overdrive” inputs.

Very pleased with this DAC. Connects easily and the sound quality is great. Only issue I face is it can “overdrive” the RCA input on my amplifier on certain songs causing distortion. Otherwise, its a great DAC and I would recommend this product.
