Not just for survivalists!!
While this is most definitely a terrific product to have if you are a survivalist or something like that it's just as good if you just want to have a pop of fruit any time of year, any weather, or on days you can't get out to the grocery store but need a last-minute fruity ingredient for salads, oatmeal, cereal, yogurt, smoothies, cakes.... It's also really yummy to snack on right out of the can, as is. Would be useful for hiking, school lunches, camping or road trips.When you open the can, your senses will be BLISSED OUT with these beautifully colored berries and the aroma of tangy sweet summer raspberries.We have never purchased freeze dried canned products before, and this was a completely new experience. There are desiccant packs to keep the contents fresh and dry. The fruit settles in the can so there is room at the top. You do get a lot and it is a good value for the price. The product is as lovely and flavorful as we had hoped it would be.We pureed some of the dried raspberries in a food processor then whipped up some whip cream and blended them in. Then we added coconut slices and walnuts for a quality ingredient fruit salad with no added sugar. It was not a recipe but an inspired experiment that worked out well. We have a million more ideas to try and will definitely be back to purchase more Augason Farms freeze dried berries!We purchased the set that came with one can of strawberries and one can of raspberries because purchasing them together offered a ten-dollar discount.These are as nice as you hope they will be and are way more cost effective than buying the individual packets, if you can even find individual packets of freeze-dried berries in your local grocery store.
