A great ergonomic keyboard

It took a little bit of time to get used to this layout, but this is a very good keyboard for those looking for ergonomic equipment. It takes a bit of time to get used to the design, but practice and regular use will make it easy to adjust. The keys feel great and my fingers have never ached after prolonged use. Changing width and tenting angles are both great for adjusting the keyboard for optimizing comfort.I also really like that this keyboard has separate keys for Cut, Copy, Paste, and Undo. They make those actions much easier. I haven't used the web home, back, or forward keys very much since my mouse already has back and forward buttons.My main disagreement about the design is that the B key is on the left section. I strongly think it should be on the right. The Fn key can be confusing because it stays active after pressing it. I'm used to Fn only being active while the key is held down. The Delete key can also take some getting used to because it's the same size as the Backspace key and the keys are very close to each other. I've had a few experiences where I've tried to use Backspace but ended up hitting the Delete key instead. These issues haven't been enough to hinder my experience, and overall I'm very satisfied with this keyboard.Ver más

Excellent keyboard for fixing wrist strain.

Great keyboard and great customer service. I spend all day at the computer and I got this keyboard to release the strain on my wrists and arms. It works just as I hoped. The only thing I don't like is the location of the fn key on the left - I would like ctrl to be there. I'm not an administrator on my work computer so I don't have a work around. But that is personal preference, overall great keyboard and again the customer service was very responsive when I had one small issue with a write pad. Get this keyboard!Ver más

Very Good Overall

I have been using this keyboard 8+ hours per day, 5+ days per week, for almost 2 years now (I am a full time web developer). I originally bought this because 2 months into my job I was having intense wrist and finger pain, as well as hand cramping. After using this keyboard for a little while my pain pretty much disappeared.I will say that it was difficult to get used to at first; my typing speed went way down for awhile as I got used to it, but using it consistently helped. I also had a lot of trouble initially if I used a different keyboard (such as temporarily using my laptop keyboard) because my brain and fingers would have to readjust. I can say though that nowadays I don’t have this issue and can switch between them just fine.Some points to note:- I do not really use the shortcut buttons on the left side.- I really dislike that the Delete button and the Backspace buttons are the same size. Even after 2 years I have not gotten used to this and often use the wrong key because they are the same size and almost the same amount of reach.- I use the “medium” tenting setting without the padding and it feels great. It matches the natural angle of my wrists very well.- I do not have the halves separated very far, but I do angle them a bit away from each other because it feels most comfortable for me. I like the amount of flexibility it provides.- I really wish there was a keypad included. I find using the Function key to trigger the “keypad” in the middle of the keyboard to be very unintuitive and using the number row is awkward. I know they offer a detached 10-key pad, but $40 feels so overpriced and it requires an extra USB port.- I’m very happy that this didn’t require any additional software to work, as my job is very strict about this. If I remember correctly, I just plugged it in and it worked like any other keyboard.Overall I love this keyboard. It’s hard not to when it saved my wrists and hands. I also love how versatile it is with how you can physically configure it. If the Delete and Backspace keys were different sizes I would probably give it 5 stars, even without the keypad.Ver más

An Outstanding Keyboard!!!

An outstanding keyboard!!! I recently broke my wrist but needed to continue working so went looking for a keyboard that would accommodate not being able to rotate, tilt or flex my left wrist. This keyboard was exactly what I was looking for!The construction is as good as the best out there, except maybe the old IBM Model M mechanical keyboards. Mine arrived with the wrist rest and left-right tilt accessory kit installed. I wouldn't buy this keyboard without it. I tilted the left section full (15 degrees) and fiddled with it's rotation until they home keys were under my fingers without having to tilt, rotate or twist my wrist. After a few minutes getting used to the slight variation in the location of some of the lesser used keys I was able to work as quickly as if I hadn't had a titanium T plate and half a dozen screws recently installed in my distal radius bone. I definitely recommend this keyboard to anyone needing a keyboard to adjust to your hand(s) position. I also found it more comfortable for my uninjured hand versus the typical square layout or even the Microsoft Natural keyboard I normally use.After a week's use I can find only two things that might improve it. The first is if there was a way to adjust the tilt of each half from front to back. I did this by stacking 3x5 cards under it but a front to back tilt adjustment would be well worth it to go along with the left to right tilt that is built into the accessory kit. The other improvement might not be enjoyed by all, but I really like the tactile feel of the old IBM Model M mechanical keyboards. If Kinesis offered this keyboard with front to back tilt (in addition to the current left to right tilt) and mechanical keys I'd have to rate it a 10 out of 5!!! But even with these potential improvements left off, this is an excellent keyboard for the wrist movement challenged at a fair price. I'd buy it again and recommend it highly.Ver más

Instant relief for wrist and shoulder pain!

I switched to the Kinesis Freestyle2 after experiencing constant forearm strain, and the difference is night and day. The split design is a lifesaver—being able to position the modules at shoulder width immediately fixed my posture and stopped me from "hunching" over my desk.The keys are quiet and have a low-force feel that reduces finger fatigue, while the flat profile keeps my wrists in a neutral position. I also love the dedicated hotkeys for Copy/Paste on the left side. If you spend all day typing, do your body a favor and get this keyboard. It’s easily the best ergonomic investment I’ve made!Ver más

Dumps the program at least once a day

I bought this keyboard so I could program the left space bar as a backspace like the Microsoft Comfort Keyboard. First, I ordered the Freestyle 2, but it was as if my PC had a virus. I returned it, thinking it was likely used and returned and gave me a virus, because MS Word and Chrome would type in random characters. I bought this one, same thing....so after replacing normal.dot, running Norton Power Eraser for root kits, and then doing a factory reset on my 3 month old Dell with an Intel i7, 16 GB RAM processor, I ended up with the same issues. (I have Windows 10, and this all happened before the Oct 2018 update that caused issues.) I then got on the phone with Norton and we did a total check on the laptop, since Norton has a guarantee. The technician got on remotely and did a thorough check and found nothing. Using my laptop keyboard did not cause problems, so I was thinking the USB drivers for the keyboard were infected, but re-installign them and updating the firmware for this keyboard did not help.THEN...I decided to buy a cheap keyboard and try it. No problems at all. So I re-plugged in the Freestyle PRO directly to the laptop itself. After several hours and no gobbledy-gook in Word doc and on my browsers, I figured out that the whole thing was due to this fancy new keyboard. Yup. I lost 2 year's worth of Outlook email when I reset the laptop. (OTOH, reset totally removed all crapware from the new laptop!)You are supposed to be able to program this keyboard. My must-have is the left space bar as a back space key...but I also have one macro that I created for a repetitive action I do often when transcribing content from Excel into Word. Well...Freestyle PRO dumps ALL PROGRAMS and key mapping at least once a day now. I can't determine if any particular action causes this, but I now use the remap key to quickly remap the left spacebar when it does this. Unplugging the keyboard also causes it to dump the mapped key, too.Other issues: the Freestyle 2 cannot program the left space bar as a backspace, so I can't use that one, but it did have a small plastic piece that kept the two halves together. You'd think that Kinesis could at least make one for the Freestyle PRO. I will have to fashiopn one out of Sugru (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00EU7DBNM/ref=od_aui_detailpages00?ie=UTF8&psc=1)Regardless, I am keepign this keyboard because it has the ability to make left space bar a backspace, it has a slight lift to it, and it's two separate pieces that I can angle that makes it most comfortable for my wrists. I wish the keys weren't so loud, but most people probably wouldn't care...it's not super loud, but an option for a softer sounding set of keys would be nice. I also like the Cut, Copy and Paste buttons that are hard-coded, so I don't have to remap them every day. For some reason, I very, very often hit the CAPS lock key instead of the letter A. My touch typing left hand needs some kind of tactile clue as to which is the letter A key...I hope Kinesis reads these. The keyboard is worth the price, but the lift kit is extra. They need to do some work on the keyboard driver to make it more compatible with Win 10 and to figure out why the keyboard has difficulty working through a hub or a docking station. They also need to update the Freestyle PRO with the same physical amenities that I got with the Freestyle 2: lift kit already installed, plastic piece to hold the two halves of the keyboard together....mine keep sliding away from each other. I had an old Lexmark tent-style keyboard with a SWITCH for making the left space bar into a backspace for 20 years. After 3 visits to the repair shop, I gave up on it, since the repair place in Kentucky started doing crappy work (using electrical tape instead of heat shrink to finish off a new cable with exposed wires!)I would buy this again, but WARNING to anyone who buys it: Don't assume you have a keyboard-borne virus if it starts acting like a Word Macro Virus got in...just more the USB cable to your machine's native USB port, update the keyboard firmware, and hope for the best.
