Quality addition to our mixed-brand wooden train set
This is a quality addition to our mixed-brand wooden train set (Thomas, Jesse's Toy Box, Bigjigs, Right Track, Orbrium, Maxim). This set includes several pieces of track, a crane/track hybrid piece that has a magnet to pick up the cargo pieces (and other magnetized pieces in the Brio line), a 2-piece bridge that uses a knob to raise and lower one side, a ship with two compartments for the cargo pieces, a battery-operated engine, a boxcar that holds one of the cargo pieces, and the two cargo pieces that each have a magnet at the top so they can be picked up by the crane. All of the pieces seem pretty sturdy, even the crane that is operated by turning a knob that lowers and raises a string attached to the end of the crane. My only complaint is that button that turns the electric engine on and off is a bit difficult for our son - it is nearly flush with the top of the train. However, the set is rated for 3yrs+, and our son is only 21 months, so I don't think this would be a problem for an older child. Our son especially loves the magnetic crane - it is set up so that you can move the cargo pieces (the set comes with two) between the boxcar and the ship. The boxcar only has room for one cargo piece, while the ship has room for two. Overall I am quite pleased with this set. All pieces seem sturdy enough to withstand our curious nearly-2 year old, though I will definitely be keeping an eye on him with the small cargo pieces, as these could be a choking hazard (again, this set is rated for 3yrs+, so it is not actually a ding against this set, since our son is over a year younger than the rated starting age). This was our son's first electric engine, and he is just fascinated with watching it go around the track!Ver másVer menos
