I got this to protect my new 2011 27" i7 iMac. I read online about how the iMac's are Energy Star 5 and use the newer Power supplies that prefer the "pure" sine wave to prevent the "buzzing" sound when on battery power. My old APC I used on my PC that this iMac replaced was over 6 years old and a new battery was gonna run $99 so I figured time to get a newer more "green" UPS. That all said, this product is GREAT. I have had it running for 3 weeks and have had it kick on 2 times. Once for a complete power failure which my iMac had no issues transferring to this power and for a brown out in which my whole house dimmed and the UPS kicked in its AVR functionality to provide a clean steady rate of energy to the iMac.The unit makes no noise while on grid power, at least that I can hear. When it kicks in to battery or AVR mode it goes make a little noise and the "beep" sounds make my dog freak out (nothing new, the APC did this too).Front USB is nice, as you can guess we lose power a lot, so being able to charge my iPhone in a power outage while the computer is off is GREAT. I have the iMac, a 22" Samsung LCD, USB hub and network switch on the battery plugs and under a large load (gaming) It says I get 26 minutes of use. Very nice :DThe size is wonderful, much smaller then my old APC back-ups 1250 unit. The LCD display is nice, tells a lot of information which is of great use since Mac OS X does not seem to "love" this unit. I followed the instructions (no software to install, the OS just works) and the OS finds it fine BUT it does not "know" its battery charge amount. This is a little concerning as the "auto power off" settings relie on this. Overall I am not concerned too much, Lion is coming out soon which my correct this. Also I leave the computer off while at work (I leave on at night to get to my home sharing from iPhone) so when I am not able to turn off myself its off anyway (where as at night a power outage makes so much stuff beep in my house the dog lets me know something is going on).I 100% would recommend this product to a Mac user OR a PC user. I feel price point is great compared to the APC brand and also the quality appears fine to me.Ver másVer menos

This is the One!
[See end of Par. No. 1 for UPDATE.]I am using this UPS with a TiVo DVR, an add-on supplementary disc drive, and a 52" flat HD LCD TV, primarily to avoid TiVo reboots when there are momentary or short term power interruptions. (I am not using the "automatic computer shutdown" software that comes with it, but if that is important to you, and you use a Mac computer, as I do, you should confirm that it works on a Mac.) A number of other devices, which I am not concerned about shutting down in case of a power interruption, are connected through the surge-only outputs. Because they are not located near one another, I have three other non-CyberPower UPS units, one on my computer, one on my WiFi router, and one on another TiVo DVR setup. I got this this unit because of the pure sine wave feature, and it is working like a charm.Two things a prospective buyer might want to know about:1. When I first installed it, it did not prevent a reboot when I cut off the house current (by tripping the circuit breaker). I then broke one of my rules, which is never change two or more variables at one time, so I'm not sure which of the two things I did solved the problem. This UPS has a sensitivity setting, and I set the sensitivity to "High." Also, I realized the Tivo was not plugged into the Master receptacle, so I rearranged the plugs. After making those two changes, it continued to work perfectly each time I would trip the circuit breaker. BTW, the Event Counter helped in this situation, because it confirmed the number of current interruptions that had taken place. Not essential IMO, but a thoughtful touch. I got the 1350 watt model, rather than the 1500, strictly because of cost. Obviously the larger the UPS capacity, the longer it will operate on battery power, but since my most important need is to bridge short power interruptions with the TV ON, I don't think the difference in how long it will operate the TV would be significant. I didn't test it by running it on battery until the TV went off, but the fully charged battery run time displayed (for the TiVo, disc drive and TV) was about 12 minutes, so for my purposes it wouldn't matter much if the UPS keeps them going for 20 minutes, for example, rather than 12 minutes. In my experience power outages tend to be either momentary or last for several hours, which is probably beyond the time the UPS will keep things going with the TV off. I have not yet tested how long the battery will keep the TiVo and hard drive going if the TV is off, for example, if the power outage occurs when we are not watching TV, but have a program set to record. I can't check it as I write this because the battery is not at full charge, but when I do so I will update this review. [UPDATE: With the display showing battery charge at 100% and the TV off, when I trip the circuit breaker the UPS shows it will run for 70 minutes, compared to the 12 minute runtime with the TV on. Shows you how much power the TV and every thing else combined utilize. These figures are what the unit displays; I haven't timed the actual runtime. But having about an hour for the power to be restored is not inconsequential IMO.]2. This UPS is a "tower" configuration, that is, it is designed to be used vertically. Because of space limitations, I emailed CP tech support to inquire if it would operate horizontally, and was told it would work lying flat on its side. However, I was concerned that would block air ventilation, so I made two 1" x 1" x 6" "spacers," sort of as supports, or feet, on which to set the UPS, to allow air to circulate through the unit. I hope it works. I have a "Plan B" in mind if I detect overheating, but it would require mounting the unit in a position that would make the display difficult to read. (It now faces forward, visible from the front, but, of course, the display is sideways.)My bottom line is: the CyberPower CP1350PFCLCD UPS is working as advertised for now, and I recommend it without reservation. I'll let you know if I have any problems.

Perfect so far
My entertainment center had outgrown my old UPS, so I had been shopping around for a new one. This model seemed to fit all my requirements, and after a few days, I am happy with it.The Good Points:1. I am an engineer, so I love the various display options. My main problem is with power supply voltage fluctuation, so I love the display and logging options.2. I am also a TV-room snoozer, so I am even more thankful that the display will shut it self off, leaving only a relatively small while LED lit up unless I press the display button. If it was up to me, there would be a big button on the side of my equipment rack that turns off all the status/power/just-to-look-cool LED's that electronics seems to require.3. The unit is mostly black, and disappears into the darkness of the bottom shelf.4. It is quiet-no noise at all once the batteries are charged.5. Other CyberPower models have reviews complaining of outgassing-that nasty smell common to new electronics. While there was some odor, it was no worse than anything else I have purchased, and mostly disappeared in a day or two.6. The enclosed software provides a nice control interface. I don't have a computer in my entertainment rack, but the USB interface (CyberpPower even includes a cable!) lets me connect my laptop up whenever I want to fiddle with the settings. The manual is also provided on the CD, meaning I can load it onto my network and not have to worry about losing the printed copy.7. The display can be read from all angles, including looking down at it...a nice feature being that UPS's tend to live on the bottom shelf.8. The USB power-only outlets on the front are very handy for charging my cell phone.Cons:1. Would have been nice if there was a horizontal form-factor version of this...it would be an easier fit in most entertainment centers.Other Stuff:1. None of my equipment needs the true sine-wave output, but I figured it would be a nice feature to have, since if I didn't have it, my next piece of equipment would no doubt require it.2. Amazon showed this unit as being on 2-week backorder, but it shipped the same day I ordered it. I wanted to order it from Amazon because of the Amazon Prime shipping.Overall-I am happy with the purchase. Time will tell if it holds up, although that is mostly a function of the batteries used.Update as of June 2012- After 1 year of service, no problems to report. I have had two units operating for over one year, and they work fine. They have kept my computer network alive through two brief power outages, and seem to be operating as designed.

You don't have to hook up the internal battery - nice...
I found this UPS to be quite useful. I usually only buy APC UPS devices but I decided to take a chance on a new brand. This UPS is pure sine wave so it should work with even the newest power supplies. As noted in other reviews, it is also less expensive than like APC models. However, its greatest feature may be that you do not need to hook up the internal battery once the unit arrives.With an APC unit, you have to open up the battery compartment and actually attach the positive lead of the UPS to the battery. Not a big deal, but the batteries can be bulky, the leads are always short and difficult to maneuver and the sparking that goes on when you connect the UPS to the battery terminal can be a bit alarming. With this UPS, it has special circuitry so that as long as you plug the UPS into the wall socket first, then you simply turn on the UPS, without having to manipulate the battery. Everything is already connected and ready to go. Quite nice really.Other than the installation convenience, hard for me to tell it apart from other UPS units. I pulled the plug from the wall to test the device and the UPS came on to battery power quickly and the computer stayed on. Also, I might note that the UPS is completely silent, no buzzing or humming. When it is on battery power, there is slight fan noise but it is at a very low volume. The UPS is well engineered from that perspective as well.Ver másVer menos

Quiet, odor free and keeps the PC running.
So far so good. I have three monitors, a powerful loaded I7 PC with 3 hard drives and a laptop running flawlessly. I have experienced power hiccups and this has kept everything running. I also pulled the plug from the wall as a test and watched it successfully shutdown my PC as desired.One thing I like is to automatically page me when there is a power event. The standard software that comes with it does not do this but they do have the the business edition that you can download and use. It's unsupported but most features I found do work. I have not had any odors or issues as I have seen others write about. Maybe because I have a max load of about 33%. You really do not want to max out the capacity of a UPS. My run time indicates between 14 and 22 minutes. I have another UPS control my routers and modem so my internet stays up for quite a while. This way I can continue to use my battery powered laptops. Also its quiet! I was afraid to switch from APC to CyberPower but so far it has not disappointed me. One thing to note is the USB ports are not high amperage. Both USB ports share 1a. They barely charge your phone even if its off! (Hence the reason for the 4 stars). I think the phone requires a 2.1a to charge fast so these port are useless to me. I was hoping to just plug my USB devices (phone and bluetooth) in to it to charge but I now have to plug them in from the power in the rear of the device. Not really a big deal but a disappointment. From a Dell XPS 9000 owner. Apples to 9100 series too.
I have tried went threw 2 other UPSs before getting this one. My first was the CyberPower CP1000AVRLCD 1000VA/600W that I purchased on May. Installed the software and have a useful desktop gadget that reads the wattage, battery life and charge. Also tried a self test and my computer shuts off right when I click start. This should be a sign to return it but didn't like returning things so I put in on a old TV where the power outlet is controlled by a light switch.The second was a APC BR1500G BACK-UPS Pro 1500 10-Outlet 1500VA/865W UPS System. Hopefully a different brand will do a better job. First thing I did was test it on the TV with the N64 that the power is controlled by the light switch, flip the switched and everything stayed on. Awesome, looks good but the first on can do that too. Well lets set it up the the XPS 9000, installed the software and set it to the most sensitive settings, restart the desktop and then do the self test. Everything shuts off like it did with the last time and now the desktop is turning on and off a dozen times. It was quite frightening so I sent it back even tho I don't often return things.At this point I done something I should of done in the first place, "Research". Reading many web forums and learned that other owners of the Dell XPS 9000 and 9100s had the same issue. Some say change the power supple and then reading after seeing others saying "No don't do that! Dell designed the motherboard to short circuit when a aftermarket power supple is connected!". Continuing on I read there a few other costumers that found UPSs that dose work with the XPS 9000 and to get the ones with "Sine Wave".Now searching for a Sine Wave UPS I came across the CyberPower CP1350PFCLCD UPS 1350VA 810W PFC Compatible Pure Sine Wave and the 1500VA/900W in a reasonable price range. I decided with the 1350VA/810W version cause really, if something happens to the power I like to have a chance to shut it down safely. Now a pro of setting things up, install the software (same as the first CyberPower unit I bought), restart, and get ready for the self-test. Click and... the computer is still on! The unit beeps a few times but everything is working. Finally I found what I been looking for. This dose work for the Dell XPS 9000.A few days after receiving the CyberPower CP1350PFCLCD, the house experience a quick 2 second blackout while I was watching Netflix on the plasma TV when it suddenly turned off and I hear the UPS beep. Check to see if the computer is still on and I just awaking it from sleep mode. Glad to see it worked but a bit annoyed cause now I have to go around the house to reset all the clocks.I recommend any of the CyberPower UPS PFC Compatible Pure Sine Wave with at least 1000VA/600W or above to for any type of computer. For reference the 1350VA/810W gives me around 40 minutes of power at 160 watts. I also should mention that software that comes with the unit can be set to shut down the computer automatically when there is 5 minutes worth of juice left in the battery just in case no one is awake or around to shut it off themselves. I haven't tested it out myself and wonder if it would work if the PC is in sleep mode.
