Happy I purchased this acoustic bass guitar!
Like many others that purchased this and posted their reviews, I'm really glad I decided to take the plunge and order this acoustic bass. The bass guitar was packed ok, but only a single, thin box with foam wrap around the bass. Mine came with two strap buttons, and a truss rod allen wrench. I was immediately happy to see just how great the craftsmanship was on the bass I received. Honestly. I know some reviews said it may be hit or miss, and some reported some cosmetic issues, but mine looks incredible considering it was only $109.00. The neck was slightly bowed, so I used the allen wrench to straighten it out a little at a time. Harmonics at the 12th frett and fretting at the 12th frett is in-tune and intonation throughout is good. The only reason I gave this only 4 stars as a bass for beginners is because if you are not familiar with how to set up a stringed instrument, you may become frustrated trying to learn how to play on an instrument with intonation issues and high action. The action on mine is now much better, although I may end up filing the saddle down just a hair to make it perfect.Like others, I also replaced the strings it came with (they were not very high quality and made my hands turn black when playing) with a set of Ernie Ball Earthwood Acoustic Bass Phosphor Bronze strings (45 55 80 95) which sound incredible on this bass. I took time to treat the fretboard with lemon oil and it looks incredible now. Also, my hands no longer become black as a result.The 9v battery compartment won't close all the way when battery is inserted, however I believe I will be able to make a slight modification so it will snap in. The electronics sound great plugged in to my amp. I have an acoustic gig coming up and am really looking forward to using my new acoustic bass. It also sounds great without an amp and has a warm tone that resonates well. A few extra notes: mine had a small sticker on the back of the guitar near the heal of the neck. Mine shows that it was manufactured 11/2020. Also, no logo on headstock, which I was happy about. Prior to buying this, I tried a few Fender acoustic basses at a local store. I can honestly say I made the right choice buying this bass. I bought the natural finish version, pickguard was already fastened. I hope this review helps. If on the fence about this bass, buy it! Great deal, needs a little work to set up.
I bought this to practice on without an amp. After I got it, I had to adjust the truss rod a bit, but no biggie. It came with the right size allen wrench. It played fine without the adjustment, but the action was much better after I set it. The intonation was really close. It's not loud without an amp, but I didn't expect that, since it's not a full size acoustic bass. I'm making this review because of all of the bad ones. While some people will get a bad one I guess, mine is good. Unbelievable deal for the price (under &70 for me).Some things to keep in mind after reading the other reviews. Some had strings break. I noticed while setting it up that the string tension felt wrong and I was going to wind it up tighter... then remembering others who said their strings broke. I checked it first. If you tune it by ear and feel of the string, you may be temped to run it up an octave. I almost did. It probably would have broken. Like any new guitar, you will need to tune it multiple times at the start. It will settle in eventually. Mine held tune well overnight.The truss rod adjustment is not a normal thing for a casual player, but it is easy to do. Look it up on google or youtube to see how. Basically its the adjustment that controls how close the strings are to the fret board at the base. Too far it it will play clumsy. Too close and it will vibrate against the fret board and make an almost static sound. The adjustment is found on this guitar on the inside. If you look at an angle into the hole, with the neck pointing directly away from you, you will see the allen head right under the lip of the hole. With the strings still on I put the short end of the allen wrench into the socket, and make very minor adjustment. You should not have to turn it even a half turn to get where you want. Adjust it a little, play it a bit and let it settle. I pulled up to get the strings closer to the fret. Some people had strings that touched the frets. In this case push down on the allen wrench.... a little at a time. The strings will prevent you from going too far.All in all this guitar is far better than I would have expected for the price. But you have to set it up to get the most out of it. If your not comfortable setting it up yourself, bring it to your local music shop. They will set it up correctly for you, for the right price I guess. I did buy it to practice with, but I might even play it at Church this Sunday, instead of my electric one.BTW Fedex totally screwed up the delivery. They delivered it 3 streets away. Fedex is usually good however and I attribute it to someone new at their company.

Not bad over all
For the price point and for what you you get, it’s really not bad overall. The sound unamped is decent. It’s much louder amped. I am going to try a better set of strings to see if unamped sound is any better. The instrument looks nice, I bought the sunburst finish. Neck has a pretty good feel to it. I did tweak the truss rod to my liking, easy enough to do. The only area where it falls the most short for me is the tuning posts, they seem a bit cheap and the bass seems to have a bit of difficulty staying in tune.UPDATE: I changed the strings with a set of Ernie Ball acoustic bass strings, definitely sounds a little better. A little more tweaking of the neck! The tuning post seems to be ok after all so I am changing my original 3 star review to 4 stars, you can't beat it for the priceVer másVer menos

Short scale acoustic? Heck yeah!
IMPORTANT!! THIS BASS IS 30" FROM BRIDGE TO NUT. This was an important bit of info that I could NOT find reading about it. I scanned the reviews, and I thought I saw "short scale" somewhere, but this info needs to be in the description! As luck would have it, short scale is what I wanted. I've got a 35" scale 5 string and I cannot play it, it's too long. This one is great! Happy, happy, happy.Bass lessons this year for my 11 year-old, and I was wanting something inexpensive. This thing popped up, and being acoustic, it's something that can be used without running up my electric bill.I'm glad I took the chance!I just unboxed it a few minutes ago, and it only needed tuning. The action is actually pretty darn good as is. I might fiddle with it a bit, but I didn't receive a truss rod adjustment tool. May not need it. The neck is straight! Unexpectedly good. The strings are probably going to be replaced, but for learnin' they're fine.Finish: Pretty good! Mine has tiny, minute scratches, so little I don't care. Other than that, there is a tiny blemish on the sound hole. I'm pleased, esp. for the low low dollars. I haven't done a detailed examination of the neck, but I didn't see anything obviously bad, finish-wise. Only one strap button, as mentioned by numerous other reviewers.Sound: pretty good acoustically. I've not played acoustic basses very much at all, so I don't have a lot to compare to. I would say the E and A strings are just a hair quieter than the D and G, but that goes with the bass territory. Those frequencies are harder to discern than the higher frequencies. I wouldn't say it's loud by any stretch, but it is nowhere near as dead or quiet as I expected it to be! Thumbs up on that. Also, being a short scale, I expect the lower notes to get a bit rubbery or dead-ish relatively. Just gotta thump 'em a bit more, I suppose.So we get it plugged in... just wow! I'm truly shocked at the sound. I started with everything flat, experimented with each EQ slider (amp EQ flat). I settled for just a bit of low boost, mid cut, and high boost with the volume about half-way or just a bit more, this thing sounds GREAT! I can't wait to try some better strings on it. The low end is big and fat.Overall, it is NOT an expensive bass, and I didn't expect it to be. But for under $100, this is a steal. If I'd bought a "name brand" for $250 or more, I'd be giving this perhaps less stars, but this is an unbelievable value. If it gets busted, I'm buying another one. In a heartbeat.

Pretty cool!
I had pretty low expectations for this bass. I had ordered a guitar from this brand quite awhile back and it was terrible. This was the exact opposite. I can’t find anything wrong with it. Fret edges were perfectly smooth. No blemishes on the finish to be found. I do expect to change the strings, but that’s a given.I didn’t really want a red bass. And this looks more coral. I actually kind of dig it. This was a fine purchase and I’m pretty happy with it.Ver másVer menos

Not really for a beginner
So, I have zero experience but a huge interest in learning bass, but didn't want to sink a lot of money into it, just in case. I have a guitar that I never was able to do more than tune due to lack of and I couldn't seem to master covering 6 strings with my small hands.I bought this acoustic bass because it was cheap and I liked the blue. (Also I thought if I did get good, I could bring it with me to camp fires and jam with my friends.) I found a local music store that does repairs and also gives lessons and the guy said bring it in and he can get it set up for free or tell me if it's worth keeping or finding something new. He has been playing for a long time and he made it sound great (to me) but said this and I'll pass it along. He said that for a $90 bass it wasn't that bad. The action is too high and the tuning knobs the ones at the top (I can't quite remember their name because again beginner) are too loose. He said the strings were ok, but the action was going to make it tricky to learn to play since I would have to work harder to press down the strings. And the loose knobs were going to mean that keeping it in tune was going to be extremely hard. He couldn't actually get it in completely in tune because even bumping the head or tuning t he next string was knocking it out. Maybe that was just the one I had or maybe it's all of them, not sure. Overall he said if I wanted to keep it not to sink any more money into it because it wasn't worth it and learning things might not sound completely correct because of the tuning.I had read a bunch of reviews that said it's great if you do all of these different things to it and I showed him one and he agreed with all of them and said if I wanted to try them myself using youtube (as one of the reviewers suggested, I could but for him to do it would cost around $90- $120 which would end up being more than I paid for the bass itself.He also told me that if I was really committed to learning I would likely outgrow this instrument in 6 months, and he didn't suggest learning on an acoustic to begin with. I thanked him and came home to see if I could do the things necessary and for someone that had never played a stringed instrument they were daunting and felt like I was going to end up destroying it so I'm going to return it.If you've read this far it's also worth mentioning that if you decide to return it, it's going to cost close to $15 as it is not a free return. So between shipping, gas and tape to ship it back I'm out $20 plus the price of a playable instrument.
