I've tried the rest, this really is the best!

I have the Manta mask with silk eye cups, the Whoop 3D mask, silk flat mask, and I have just tried and returned the Ostrich Pillow mask. The straps on ALL slip and slide all night and they’re too big, sometimes squishing my nose, making deep indents under my eyes and on my forehead with various other pain caused by seams and straps. The light blocking is awesome, so I tried this last thing, the Tempur-Pedic Sleep Mask. Even after I woke up this morning, I didn’t want to take it off, it felt so good, softly cradling my eyes, and I slept great! This won’t solve all my sleep problems, but it’s a big deal for me!It comes squished in a narrow box, so I let it air out and expand ovrnight and found if you sort of "unfold" the bottom eye portion from top to bottom before putting it on, it will mold to a comfortable custom fit after a little while.Ver más

One of the best eye masks I’ve ever used

I love this eye mask! It’s soft and squishy and molds to my face which means that it is totally black out. There is an adjustable Velcro strap on the back so you can make the right size for your head. I’ve used it for a couple nights now and it does its job. I mostly need the eye mask to fall asleep so that it is totally dark, which it does. I am a little concerned about the tag saying that it is not washable. I probably will use a damp cloth and wipe it every few days just to keep it clean. Also, since it is squishy, I think it would be easy to pack in a bag and travel with.Ver más

Quality, recommended face mask!

My husband loves this sleep mask so much that he is now on his second! It feels high quality, gives a little pressure to the eyes, is right weight, blocks light effectively and completely, and fits perfectly (adjustable). The weighted pads around the eyes allow for the mask to feel so comfortable and fit so well. It has improved his sleep quality over the last several years using it. What more could you ask for?The first mask began to show wear after several years, so we bought a second to replace the first. We recommend!Ver más

Wonderful mask!

I love these. I have used one for years and keep one in my headboard, one in my “bug out bag” (or as I call it, my emergency travel bag lol), one in my car and one in a drawer. It seemed bulky years ago but at that time I was working nights and needed sleep. This lets in NO light. I got used to it after a few nights and now I can’t sleep without it. If you are a stomach sleeper, idk, might be uncomfortable but I sleep on my back or sides so it works for me.I consider these masks essential items for my everyday life. If one frays or is losing its shape after several years of washing and drying cycles, I replace it immediately.The original was an impromptu gift from my mother who has recently passed and every night I put it on I think of her. I hated it when I opened it but now…..I can’t live without it.Ver más

Almost Everything I Wanted

I purchased the Tempur-Pedic after reading the reviews here as well as for the Revolutionary, Patented SLEEP MASTER Sleep Mask and the Mindfold Black out Sleeping Mask.Of the three, this one works best for me in blocking external light, but it is not quite as comfortable as the SLEEP MASTER. It also worked better for side-lying positions or leaning against an airline window than the Mindfold. I rotate between them now depending on my particular need at the time.My goal for a sleep mask is to assist in catching 1-2 more hours of good sleep in the summer months when early morning light starts streaming in about 5 AM through a window in my bedroom that is nearly impossible to adequately drape without undo financial expense. Otherwise I am a relatively easy sleeper. I don't expect to wear the mask through the whole night -- just slip it on if I am sleeping lightly or not at all in those final hours. I am most highly motivated to use it when work-related issues cut my available sleep options down to only 4-5 hours, and these are further hampered by summer light. Thus my experience may be different than those who routinely need a full 8-hour mask.I think that one of the most difficult issues in sleep masks is that having differently shaped faces is going to influence whether we are personlaly satisfied or disappointed -- particularly if the expectation is a total blackout of external light. Its hard to get something to fit well enough without being uncomfortable and intruding on sleep yet still be able to provide extreme "black out". Also, the longer we are exposed to low light, the more sensitive we will beocme to just a few stray photons.This mask is pretty decent for comfort, even in a side-lying position or resting against an airline window. It occasionally causes some mild nasal obstruction or compression over my checkbones and pressure on the acupoint called SI-18 -- the latter can be rather uncomfortable but resolves rapidly with slight readjustment. To some extent I am also able to wear the Tempur-Pedic with eyes open, because the design has more padding at the bottom and thereby lifts the fabric away from the eyelids. If I really seriously want to stay awake, keep my eyes open, and minimize distractions from pressure and weight such as in meditation -- then the Mindfold seems to work better as long as I have the option to limit ambient lighting.If I am sleeping and thus expect to have my eyes closed the leak is extremely small even in bright light, and it is unnoticeable to me. If used for meditation, I do have to briefly shift positions a bit to optimize things, but I can usually get both easy breathing and pretty near total blackout. For persons who wear a mask for other purposes, such as simulated experiences of visual impairment, for holotropic breathwork sessions, or a migraine phase with photosensitivity in which complete blackout might not be unnecessary, I think this model could work very nicely. However, for some migraine sufferers the extra weight and places of pressure may become irritating. (I have not had migraines for years so don't know when I will have opportunity to field test that application.)SUMMARYWhat I liked best about the Tempur-Pedic was its good light blockage, some option for having my eyes open at least for short periods of time and pretty reasonable though not great comfort. At the time of my purchase it was the most expensive of the three and perhaps should be priced more appropriately. So far the weather conditions in which I've used it were moderate. But I do still wonder whether it will become uncomfortable when combined with greater summer heat. I didn't rate it as a 5-star, because there was another mask that was substantially more comfortable during my sleep (Revolutionary, Patented SLEEP MASTER Sleep Mask), and I wish this one could match it on that feature. Nonetheless, I actually use the Tempur-Pedic as often or more, because it doesn't block my hearing like the SLEEP MASTER does. Normally the additional padding over the ears as employed by the SLEEP MASTER could be beneficial, but poses a problem for me on the nights that I serve call at work.Unfortunately, none of the masks I tried were completely satisfying for both comfort and blackout, despite being on the higher end of the price range for this type of product. I suspect it is inevitable that no single mask will optimally fit both men and women across all levels of fitness and facial contours. Making more customer-specific masks may be possible, but these could then be harder to sell by mail when understandably there is a no-return-if-used policy due to hygeine policies.

Mask is not good, purchase experience was much worse

Well, hello everyone, and thanks for reading my review. I know it's bad form to leave a bad review for an item just because some detail about the purchase process didn't go well, or it arrived damaged, or anything not related to the actual item itself (seriously, Amazon, why do you keep approving those reviews?). So I must apologize to Tempur-Pedic because they don't quite deserve the fallout from the shopping experience. I did not like this mask at all, and neither did my wife, but there are obviously people who think it's great. The design is asymmetrical and if you look at the photos the bottom portion that rests below your eyes is more bulbous than the top. That is also the part of your face where your sinuses reside, and after about 5 or 10 seconds of wearing the mask I felt an irritable pressure in the area, and after that it turned to pain and I had to take the thing off.But as far as purchasing the thing goes, despite accepting returns for seemingly everything other item under the sun, for any reason, in any condition, somehow this mask is the only thing that is not actually returnable. But there's no obvious indication of that anywhere on the product listing page or within the description. In fact, there's a little item in little tiny text over to the right that says "Returns: Eligible for Refund or Replacement.""Wait, hold on a second!" You might be saying. "You said you couldn't return it before!" That's right, I did. Because apparently I'm supposed to not only see that microscopic text, I'm supposed to know that it actually means the exact opposite of what it says. Because only when you hover over the text do you see the little info bubble that says its non-refundable unless it arrives damaged.I'm sure it will work out after find the time to contact customer support and explain the situation and blah blah... well, I promise to be polite to the support representative who helps me, but I can't promise the same the next time I run into Jeffery Bezos, CEO and entrepreneur, born in 1964.Ver más
