Very nice items to add to a habitat
I got these items a few months ago to add to my hamster cage all of them have worked out good but some of the items are better than others. A summary is below.Wheel: This is my favorite item. The wheel is outside of the cage so it does not take up any space in the cage. It can either attach to the outside of a cage or a end of a tube (both habit trail or critter trail tubes will work), it is my dwarf hamsters favorite wheel, it will run on it for hours every night. It is also silent if cooking oil is put on the axle for lubrication. Like any wheel it requires cleaning a few times a week, but it is easy to do.Outhouse: Also a very good item that can be used as a outhouse, den or dust bath, my hamster likes it a lot, and it is easy to clean.Circular tube: This item is OK, this item is not as good as the others because it can snap apart. This can be minimized if there are tubes both above and below it to help keep it together. This can be a good item but it must be used carefully because it can come apart, or cause the tubes to be too lopsided and tip over if they are not supported.Ver másVer menos

It's HUGE and high quality
I bought this Activity kit, the Lookout kit and 7 packages of assorted tubes to build a fun maze in my 55 gallon aquarium for my hamster. I built the tunnel free standing, relying on the aquarium glass to provide support and stability.When I took this activity kit out of the box, i was surprised by how HUGE everything is, especially, the wheel and the circular part at the top. Although I didn't measure it, it is estimated to be about 6" in diameter for the circular tunnel and the wheel. HUGE. The lookout is a decent size where I can put treats in it for my hamster and still has room for her to hang out in.The parts are made with thick plastics and the connector rings are pretty easy to work with. One thing that I don't like is that the parts are somewhat lose when connected together. The tunnel can turn and slide downward when putting heavier parts on. Keep in mind that working with gravity can be challenging. As long as you are building the tunnel with gravity in mind, it should be fine. I rely on other parts of the tunnel to provide support to the lookout. Since it is in a glass aquarium, I can use velcro to secure the tunnel onto the glass, if needed. Not sure if this will work well for a cage without exterior support, like I do with the aquarium glass. The parts also have a good weight.I highly recommend this product. It is very high quality. With multiple packages of these assorted tubes and the space you are working with, it allows you to be creative. Keep in mind, gravity is not a friend when it comes to building tunnels with these parts.Ver másVer menos

Frodo's home is spiffy!
Tank topper: the lid snaps on nicely and has enough room to slip Frodo's water bottle under the edge without messing with the integrity of the top. It allows me to reach in and grab or move him or his things when I need to and he loves it.Tubes: He is a large teddy bear (long hair Syrian) and though he can go through the tubes, it is a little tight and he is a bit reluctant to do it without prompting. He doesn't mind going down or along them but doesn't like going up them. At all so I may need to readjust the setup for him. It took him some time to be comfortable going in as well and needed a bit of prompting.Wheel: He loves the wheel, but I am probably going to have to remove it because his longer hair gets stuck in the center bar and he had to pull a tuft out to get free and I was unable to open the wheel to help him untangle it.Feeder: the feeder works well and if you put it at a downward angle like I did, the shuffling doesn't allow him to scatter the food , it all falls back into the bowl. This does not really do much for him scattering it by stuffing his cheeks, of course, but otherwise perfect!Overall, a bit of a problem with his size and hair in the tubes and products, but Otherwise great products!Ver másVer menos

Great for my Robo Dwarf Hamster
I bought this for my robo dwarf hamster. It took about a day for her to explore it. I put a little bit of bedding in the outhouse and she uses it as her bed. I like the wheel because it is outside of the cage, but I also still left the old wheel inside her cage. She uses both wheels to pee in, so I am going to buy a seperate outhouse with the litter in it and see if she will switch. (LOVE THAT YOU CAN KEEP ADDING TO IT) The pieces went well together, but the way I set it up it was a little wobbly so I just placed a folded up pillow case to hold it in place. The wheel did not have that problem, it hooked on fine and did not have to use anything to hold it up. The part that was wobbly was only wobbly because of the way I hooked it up on top, so it was top heavy. all in all it is a nice product and the wheel is bigger than I had expected.Ver másVer menos

NOT FOR BIG LONG HAIRED HAMSTERS
I had bought this thinking that it would be so good for my hamster to have more exercise and be able to explore more than just. his house. I set it up and noticed that my hamster would go towards the tubes but not go in, when he eventually decided to go through, he was too big, he crawled in and tried to crawl out but had trouble, I had to pull part the tube for him to get out!I had decided that maybe I can salvage this and allow my hamster to still enjoy the wheel. I set it up where is was just the wheel attached to his home and thought that it would be perfect since my hamster had made his current wheel a bed. He had used it at first, but then I noticed that he had not come out of the wheel for about an hour. I took the wheel off thinking that he couldn't get to the little opening, but still, he stayed in. It was when I noticed that his hair had knotted around the wheel's center gear. I quickly tried to pull the wheel apart, but couldn't. It took me 10 MINUTES to pull it apart! My hamster's hair was knotted and had pinched a bit of his skin. I tried to best I could to unknot it and eventually did. He did loose a bit of hair, but overall got back in his out and ate.I have been keeping tabs on him to see how he is doing and he seems okay, but if I knew that I would have to go through all this trouble just for my hamster not to be able to use the tube or the wheel is frustrating. I do not recommend to hamster owners that have big or long haired hamsters.Ver másVer menos

Worked great for a bit - wheel too small for syrians
We purchased this expansion kit to fill out the small cage we got from the pet store, not realizing that the cage was waaaaaaaaaaaaay too small, we did not do our research first. Hammy is in a larger enclosure and we no longer need these plastic tubes. Also if you drop them on the tile floor they can break.The outhouse/ hideout - the outhouse is still in use and a great thing for our syrian hamster he uses it to sleep, stash, bath and or potty we have two of these. we have a bigger enclosure and have removed all the plastic tubes but these are still in use - easy to clean because of hinge.The wheel - I thought the wheel would be better than the wheel that came with our pet store cage as it was much larger, however the support is a center spoke so our syrian still had to bend his back to use it. This might be a perfect size for the smaller hammys but not syrians. cleaning was easy. we did have to prop it up with something below. The wheel was attached to the cage and from him running one night it came loose and he escaped out into the room, so we had to add some security attachment with tape. Also if you drop it on the tile ground it can break.The hideout - hammy loved the hideout and started using it as a potty (i realized this was because his cage was too small) since he used it as a potty i had to clean it frequently which was quite easy to take apart. Also if you drop it on the tile ground it can break.hammy loved runny though the tubes but long term these were not great for our syrian probably best for the littler hams - also do not drop them on tile or hard floors as the plastic is rigid and can crack or break. attaching and detaching the connectors was very hard and resulted in breaking other pieces.Ver másVer menos
