PENN-PLAX presents the Small World Air Pump and Filter Kit. This kit is specifically designed for aquariums and tanks up to 5 gallons. In addition to our Small World, New World, and Betta World habitats, this kit is compatible with other tanks in the market. It fits all shapes and sizes, and also mounts securely to glass, acrylic, and plastic surfaces. Furthermore, it’s safe for both Freshwater and Saltwater setups. Air-Tech Pump: This Kit comes standard with an Air-Tech AT2K0 pump. In addition to being quiet, efficient, and reliable, this air pump is built with a strong motor that’s made to last. With silicone polymer flappers, a thick cover, and raised rubber feet, this pump will remain in place. Carbon & Zeolite Mixture: Supercharged with scientifically formulated Carbon and Zeolite Crystals, the media cartridge in this kit absorbs ammonia, nitrites, nitrates, and phosphates in a fast and timely manner, along with removing harmful chemicals and toxins, clearing up discolorations, and reducing foul odors from your aquarium, tank, or habitat. Bio Sponge: In addition to the Carbon and Zeolite Crystals, the included media cartridge also contains a Bio Sponge for physical filtration of larger particulate matter, and biological filtration that optimizes the colonization of anaerobic bacteria. Comes with Everything You Need: This Kit comes with an Air Pump (3” x 2” x 1.75”), Air Tubing, a Filter Mount with Connector (1.5” x 1.25” x 5”), and a Filter Media Cartridge (1.3” x 1.1” x 4.1”). Cleaning & Maintenance: Before placing into your aquarium, tank, or habitat, please briefly rinse the filtration unit with warm water in order to remove Carbon or Zeolite dust. If not done before installation, the water could initially become dark or cloudy. For best results, the disposable media cartridge should be replaced every 2 – 4 weeks, ensuring a crystal clear and healthy environment for your fish.

Great Little Filter/Bubbler For The Price
I wanted a small filter/bubbler for a 2 gallon fish bowl and decided to give this one a try because of the price and because it came with a pump. It was easy to set up and install. It stayed suctioned to the side of the glass with no problem. I like that it comes with a release valve so that you can control the amount of air flow. I read a lot of the other reviews where they mentioned too many bubbles - that's probably from not using the enclosed valve. I highly suggest using it if your tank is under 2 gallons. My set up is a 2 gallon fish bowl that's mostly an aqua scape of live plants, driftwood, and gravel. It has an outer heat lamp for the live plants. I'm going to leave about 2 to 3 inches at the top to allow for slight spatter from the bubbles. I do intend to add fish - probably two female bettas, or a few white cloud minnows. Being an aqua scape, I won't add more fish than that. Otherwise, it looks like the filter is going to work great for this set up. So far, so good.Ver másVer menos

Fit in my 1.6 gallon
So I read a lot of reviews people complaining about noise, which if u buy the kit with the air pump it is super quiet. Then people complained about not being able to take the thing apart to clean. I mean for $7 a month I can replace the cartridge. The power is controllable which is nice as it doesn't suck my betta fish in like most filters do. People complained about it making there tank cloudy but I rinsed it really well and ran it for 15 minutes in just a bowl of water to get any excess gunk out and it worked just fine. Didn't make my water cloudy at all. And with in a half hour of running I could tell the water clarity was getting better. I think this is a great filter for my tank which is 1.6 gallons and didn't come with a filter. Very small doesn't take up to much room in his tank. Also filter replacement is very easy. You just pop it out and stick a new one in.Ver másVer menos

Good for the money
I used this for my 2.5 gallon beta tank and it kept it clean for another week. I didn't buy replacement cartridges, just took it apart and cleaned the filter myself. It's not thay noisy unless the motor is pressed against smth or the filter is extremely dirty. It's pretty durable and stayed in it's place in my tank. It also was able to change the intensity of the filter and it didn't suck up my betta. It's pretty easy to put together, and a good bang for your buck. But I recently upgraded to a 20 gal so I had to retire it. Very worth the buy for small tanks.Ver másVer menos

Penn-plax filter kit
I ordered the full kit that comes with the air pump. It comes with a valve so you can adjust the flow, I think it will work great when I get my new betta since they don't like alot of water movement. The pump is small and super quiet, I have it in my bedroom and have no trouble sleeping with it running, the ceiling fan acctually makes more noise. The set up was super quick and easy. I did have to order a check valve to go with it as I have the pump lower than the tank, but they are super cheap and easy to find online. The only thing I would change would be to make the filter cartridges open so you can change out the media, but other reviews have said they are easy to modify so it shouldn't be an issue. My bowl is ~3 gallons and it doesn't take up much space, still plenty of room for plants and decor. My water is a little cloudy right now but it is still cycling.Ver másVer menos

It'll do.
It does the job to maintain, I wouldn't say it's powerful enough to clean up an already dirty tank. It does the job in my son's 1 gallon beta tank so that the water doesn't get cloudy. But I still have to do a partial change once a week.

Works great! Not too loud.
My daughter won two goldfish from a fair a few months ago. Not wanting to spend a ton of money, I bought a secondhand tank I found at Goodwill. The tank is maybe 2-3 gallons (hard to say since it's secondhand). I tried using a Tetra filter, but the current was two strong and freaked the fish out. This one was the smallest filter I could find, and it's been working great. The filter does not make the current too strong, it works well, and the fish REALLY like playing in the bubbles. Some comments say it's too loud, but only if you have the air compressor up against the wall. I don't mind the bubbling sound. You can hear the bubbles in the videos I posted...so judge for yourself.Ver másVer menos
