Frontline
I use this product on my 3 Border Collies, applying once a month. The stickers enclosed are great to put on your calendar as a reminder. I apply Frontline and give the heart worm tablets the same date. When I apply it I part the hair and put a small amount on the skin in about 5 places from the neck to the base of the tail to give adequate coverage. Works very well. I recommend everyone getting their dogs vaccinated against Lyme disease. The disease can be transmitted to your dog within 30 minutes of attaching before the tick dies. It’s a devastating disease and is fatal if not caught in time. You can’t see a bullseye on a dog to know they’ve contracted the disease. A yearly shot is recommended and well worth it. I didn’t know about the vaccine until my beloved dog was in renal failure, dying 2 days later. Although I’ve always used Frontline, my veterinarian said dogs can still contract Lyme disease. So, use the Frontline and vaccinate!I have an update. If you can get an oral flea and tick medication I would recommend doing so. I have used Frontline with success, but according to my veterinarian, ticks are developing resistance to this. My male border collie exhibited symptoms of fatigue, lethargy and a change in behavior. You know your dogs personality. I took him to my vet the first of August and a full lipid profile was done. He has a different type of tick-borne disease - anaplasmosis. It is not covered by the lyme vaccine, and Frontline doesn't kill the tick before transmission of the bacterium occurs (30 min). Neither does any other topical repellant. A two week to one month course of antibiotics is the treatment. I am doing this now.Ver másVer menos

great product, great price!
Frontline Plus works! I live in New England and the deer ticks here are out of control. This is the only flea/tick product I'll ever use. Yes, there are others out there, but they are not as safe and effective as Frontline Plus. Remember, it does NOT repel fleas & ticks, but I will kill them! We don't have a flea problem, and we have 2 dogs and 6 cats and live in the country. I occasionally find a tick on my dogs in the fall, but it's dead before it can pass any tick-borne diseases on to my pets. And I don't mind removing a dead tick once in a while, they're all shriveled up and easy to remove. After working at a veterinary clinic for 20 years, I've tried every flea and tick product out there, because the reps used to give us their company's products for free. For safety, Frontline Plus can't be beat! It's even safe to use on pregnant and lactating dogs. I've seen so many dogs have had horrible skin reactions to Advantix, I wouldn't use it even if it were free. Plus if you have a dog who likes to cuddle with your cats, like mine does, you can't safely use K9 Advantix or the cat may become ill, especially if it likes to groom the dog. A few licks of Advantix and your cat will become very sick! And if you've got kids, you'll have to keep them away from your dog for a couple of days at least after applying Advantix. Too risky for me!If you are still having a problem with fleas after applying Frontline Plus, it's because your house is also infested! Any new fleas that hop onto your pet after treating them with Frontline Plus will be killed, but that's not going to kill what's in your home. So don't blame the Frontline, treat your house, because that's the root of your problem to begin with!Ver másVer menos
