Good Value
I don't have a lot of experience comparing these to other marine binos, but i can compare them to other hunting binos like the 10x42 Bushnell Trophy (~$100) I bot for elk hunting. Those are roof prism vs these Bushnells (like most marine) are porro prism.This summer I pledge to take them both on the boat and test them side by side for clarity, although not really fair compairng $100 vs $300 optics. The $ are n the glass, and while neither is high end item both are excellent value.Interesting that I do find the Bushnell's better at color definition when hunting vs the Steiners on the water, but that might be just me projecting. To really compare side by side I would have the take the Steiner's elk hunting and that's not going to happen due to weight. Maybe I will try a side by side in CO when glassing this year in Oct.I use these while fishing LI Sound mostly to see other boats, bunker balls and shore features.I fish a 22" Grady. If I had a bigger boat or ran Charters I would prob step up to the Navigator or Commander Series after checking them out,. But as I found out through research on hunting bino's and spotting scopes, every step up in price brings an increase in quality, but at a decreased rate.The $300 I paid for these is definitely worth it over the $100 cheap set I lost overboard, and the various small binos' and monoculars I was using in 2018,Very good entry level marine choice. They are all the bino I need on LI sound considering wave action is not ocean level, always in sight of shore and nice clarity out to 500 yards is the primary use. Not to say they don't do a good job at long range for 7x50, but it's tough on a boat that is pitching in 3' ft chop to get more than a glimpse without risking a headache.Low light (early morn and dusk) they are excellent. The 50mm objective lens is great for these situations.I like the glass, and although had only one season they took a normal boat beating - being dropped, salt water on len's and body, etc. I expect them to last years.If you are looking for a good marine bino I highly recoomend these for the $. Unless you have a specific need to more magnification, 7x50 is a great choice for on the water use as any higher and you will have trouble fixing on target and keeping without excellent hand eye coordination and risk of a quick head and eye ache.Ver másVer menos

Unsurpassed Quality at Any Price!
These binoculars are near perfect. Optical aberrations are well controlled with excellent color correction, including lack of lateral color at the edge of the field of view, minimal glare, high contrast, image sharpness to the edge of the field of view, and a flat, undistorted field of view that is most appreciated when panning. The collimation is spot on, so there is no eye-strain. Seven by fifties are chosen for use by the military because of their ability to perform under low light conditions (dawn, dusk, and nighttime viewing). These binoculars helped win WWII. The ergos are very good. Eye-relief is generous for eyeglass wearers. Individual focus eyepieces are spot-on for diopter settings. They are stiff to adjust, but if they are too loose, they will drift out of adjustment. My only complaint is the glasses are heavy, but this is difficult to avoid. Glass is heavy. The rounded housing with the non-slip rubber coating is easy to grip, and the added weight makes then easy to hold steady. While these are marine binoculars, they are excellent for nature study. They may be too heavy to be carried for extended periods while birding, hiking, and hunting. They are excellent for use in surveillance by law enforcement. I use them mainly for astronomy and birding by car. The field of view is not as wide as some competitors. A narrower field makes it easier to control aberrations at the very edge of the field of view. I highly recommend these binoculars. Steiner hit the ball out of the park with this model.Ver másVer menos

Excellent binoculars
Went on a cruise to Alaska and was also wanting a pair to keep on my boat at home. These fit the bill. For Steiner’s entry level marine binoculars, these were great! The clarity and field of view was amazing. They are heavy around the neck but I’d expect that from the solid construction and quality of materials these appear to be made from. The neck strap could be a little more comfort/marine oriented so I’ll probably upgrade that. Comes with a nice carry bag. If you’re looking for a nice pair of entry level marine binoculars, I’d give them a try.Ver másVer menos

Very nice optics, sturdy feel and very functional
I came very close to buying a military version of these binoculars, but decided the marine version suited my needs better. I own several sets of binoculars, with these being the most expensive and hands-down the best.Briefly:* Very nice view, very clear and bright. Noticably better than my Nikons and Bushnells;* I really like the fact that you focus each eye once, and then everything is in focus thereafter (beyond 20 meters);* You can tell you have a well-made German instrument in your hands;* They come with a well-made case and attached lens covers - nice features;* The strap is a little thin and cheap, but I knew that when I bought them and will likely replace it;* These are not lightweights nor heavyweights; they're right in the middle. They feel very solid.I always pick these up first, and in fact, rarely use anything else. No regrets with this purchase.Regards, MarkVer másVer menos

NICE, but a little heavy!
I was looking for an upgraded pair of binoculars and these caught my eye. Great optics, great price, and they work well with or without your eyeglasses. The only downside that I can note is the fact that they’re pretty heavy. But they’re sturdy!

Superb binoculars - Stunning image quality - Built like a tank
Last summer while visiting a friend in Germany I had a chance to try a pair of high-end Steiner binoculars. They completely reset my expectations of how good a binocular can be; the image quality was unbelievable. Unfortunately, they were the Commander series, which are way beyond my budget.I'm so glad I discovered the Marine line of Steiner! They totally blow away anything else in the price range.PROS -* Incredibly bright and sharp image* Made in Germany* Very high quality construction* Comfortable to hold* Good eye clearance* Nice carrying case included* WaterproofCONS -* Heavy - over two pounds (doesn't bother me at all, but for some it might be a factor)* Pretty large* The neck strap is a little underwhelming, but it's functionalSteiner binoculars reinforce a view I've held for years: the Germans really know how to make lenses.Don't even think about other brands if you're planning to spend $300 on binoculars.
