A Poetic Journey Through Lana's Soul
Lana Del Rey's "Violet Bent Backwards Over the Grass" is a captivating collection that beautifully captures her unique voice and artistic vision. As I immersed myself in her poetry, I was struck by the vivid imagery and raw emotion that thread through each piece. Del Rey's ability to weave personal experiences with broader themes of love, loss, and the complexities of life creates a powerful resonance that lingers long after reading. The inclusion of her typewritten manuscript pages and original photography adds an intimate touch, allowing readers to connect with her creative process on a deeper level. Listening to the spoken word audiobook, accompanied by Jack Antonoff's evocative music, elevated the experience further, making her words almost come alive. This collection solidifies Lana as not only a musical icon but a profound writer of her generation. "Violet Bent Backwards Over the Grass" is a must-have for fans and poetry lovers alike, offering a stunning glimpse into the heart and mind of an extraordinary artist. Highly recommended!Ver másVer menos

Can poetry be a Masterpiece?
I purchased this years ago and forgot to write a review. I often reread this to feel something or when I’m feeling too much. It’s like talking to a friend who is a twin flame who finally gets you bc they also have scattered thoughts and random rants and 10 side stories before they get to the point all while questioning life and identity and second guessing everything and nothing all at once and sifting between deep worry and detachment. This poetry book is proof that Lana is a writer before anything else and proves why her lyrics resonate. I’ll never get over it. Nowadays I let the audio version play on YouTube bc it’s such a comfort. “SportCruiser” is my ultimate favorite, brings me to tears. Followed closely by Salamander, My Bedroom is a Sacred Place Now, and LA Who Am I..Ver másVer menos

A powerful lense
As a poetry author myself, I love reading poetry and never knew Lana on top of being a remarkable musician was also a poet. This book felt like it was written for her, and some things in this book will always only be intimately for her, but that is the full beauty in it because she writes it in such a way that is so introspective and daunting. Lana also brings such a sense of familiarity to the world in the sense of struggle, hardship, and showing the deeper raw emotions that make us human. I also loved the collages of pictures mixed in with her writing as it portrays such a full story and the print idea was so unique. It's clear that Lana views life as a vessel for art to effortlessly flow out of, not just in her music, but in her writing, in her photography, and I'm sure in many other forms as well. This was such a beautiful mix of collaborative art forms. And that is what life is all about, is being loud about your art. Congrats Lana 👏Ver másVer menos
