Changed my perspective on reading! LOVED IT.
This is positively the best book I’ve ever read. As a teenager who finds herself scrolling on her phone and deeming herself to “not be a reader” rather to actually almost hate reading; I finished this book in DAYS. Delivered on the 11th and I finished it at 2 AM on the 18th. The plot is delicious, the food depictions made me hungry, the secrets had me OUT LOUD GASPING, and the character development was tear jerking. Absolutely flawlessly written and is the reason I bought two more books. If anyone claims they ‘don’t like reading’, I’m recommending this 100%.Ver másVer menos

4.5 stars, couldn’t decide to round up or down
A recently widowed woman decides to handle her grief by hosting a weekend with 4 other friends, one form each “stage” of her life. We delve into her processing the loss of her husband, her complicated relationships with her friends, and her rejection by her daughter. I picked this up worried that it would be kind of shallow “chick lit” but ended up loving it! The writing is well paced, the characters all so well developed with reveals about each person’s character and history woven into the story, and the story itself is interesting and page turning. I found myself wanted the best, most positive outcome for each of the women (well, to be honest, for 4 out of the 5 women) and ended up even liking and wanting the best for the daughter (Caroline ) who I initially disliked.The book has poignant moments, some humor, some relatable moments and is definitely one of the better books I have read recently.Ver másVer menos

Sweet
somehow this was my first Elin Hilderbrand and now I’m on a mission to read all of them — heading to the library this afternoon to pick up her first one, The Beach Club.We read this for book club and I cram finished it yesterday before we met, and then started the show this morning.I’ve read a lot of heavy books lately — cancer, death, unrequited love, general sadness. This was exactly what I needed. Yes it starts with a death, but the way it ends is just so good. Friendship, forgiveness, healing, moving forward — it’s feel good without being cheesy and I related to so many of the women in different ways. Watching them all work through their hard things together just left me wanting more.If you need a reset from the heavy stuff, this is your book.Ver másVer menos

I want a 5 start wknd!
Girl drama, life drama, but with characters that are so relatable. The villains aren't really villains and there's always a twist around the corner. I was hooked right from the start and couldn't put it down. My favorite kind of book

Amazing
The trailer for the Five Star Weekend show on Netflix lead me to the book. Don't have Netflix don't care because I will always chose the book over the film. But I so see Jennifer Garner as Hollis.An amazing well crafted tale of sisterhood, life, love, friendships, lose and all the stories woven in between. A tribute to the people who touched our lives without us really realizing their impacts...sometimes too late. Very enjoyable!
What a fun quick read! This was my first time reading a book by this author and I really enjoyed the overall story, characters,Atmosphere, and writing style. Surprising
I went into The Five-Star Weekend expecting a story about friendship and reconnecting, but it ended up being so much more. It was an emotional look at grief, family, forgiveness, and how complicated relationships can be. I loved that the characters felt real and imperfect, and I found myself reflecting on their choices long after I finished. It wasn't the story I expected, but in the end, I think that's exactly why I enjoyed it so much.Ver másVer menos
