Very entertaining books, for young and mature readers.
Great book. I bought it for me, I'm 70. I am familiar with the author. I will give it to my grands they can read it and pass it around.

Jeremy Thatcher, Dragon Hatcher: Jeremy Thatcher, Dragon Hatcher
This book is about a boy, Jeremy Thatcher, who is being chased by a pack of boys as he tries to flee a girl's kiss. The scene mysteriously changes, and Jeremy stumbles across a magic shop where he buys a peculiar color-changing object, which he later learns is a dragon's egg. This book tells how Jeremy hatches the egg and of his time spent with a dragon--that nobody but he can see.This is one of the many great Magic Shop books written by Bruce Coville, and like others of its genre, it speaks of superficial events. Having read many of his books, I can say that Jeremy Thatcher, Dragon Hatcher closely mimics R.L. Stine's various book series, though no ghosts are involved and no one dies.The cover shown at Amazon.com is a little deceptive in that buyer's will not receive Coville's 1990's cover, but his new 2002 Alladin Paperback cover. The text is still the same as in the 1990's version of Jeremy Thatcher, Dragon Hatcher.I first heard about this book when my fifth grade teacher read it to our class about ten years ago, and I thoroughly enjoyed it, so I thought, since it has been so long, I would read it again. This is one of those books that once a person begins reading it, he/she will not be able to stop because each event keeps a reader yearning to know what will happen next.I recommend for anyone who enjoys superficial light-hearted children's mysteries.Hopefully, this review was helpfull to anyone looking to buy this book or others like it.Happy reading!Ver másVer menos

Favorite Children’s Book
My mother read this to me when I was young, we checked it out from the Library. It birthed my love of Dragons ever since and has been my favorite Children’s book. I give a copy to all of my friends when they have kids. A few years ago my wife and I became foster parents, and in reading this to our fosters before they went back home, it hit home so hard I almost couldn’t finish. I also recommend Jennifer Murdley’s Toad, a great parallel story from a girl’s point of view.Ver másVer menos

Fun!
I finished Jeremy Thatcher, Dragon Hatcher by Bruce Coville last night and found it absolutely wonderful! I read it as a recommendation because I was told it was similar to one of the stories I wrote. But I have to admit I really enjoyed it. It's an excellent combination of YA fantasy and magical realism.Ver másVer menos

A great children’s book!
I had the first printing of this book when I was a child. I loved it then and want to spread this lovely descriptive story with my nieces. One thing that sucks is the pictures. The art is the same as the original, but you can tell the pictures have just been copied or reprinted over time. Not nearly as crisp as they should be.Ver másVer menos

Awesome book. My daughter and I love it
“You can’t blame a cat for being a cat.” We listened to the book on a trip. It resonated with both of us. When our cat ate one our birds. I said “You can’t blame a cat for being a cat”. She understood. She was 5 at that time. She’s 31 now, and we both still use the “You can’t blame a <animal> for being a <animal>.” It grounds the issue and brings the situation in to perspective. This author launched my love of reading
I have been a fan of Bruce Coville ever since I was a little girl reading Into The Land Of Unicorns for bedtime and Jeremy Thatcher as assigned summer reading. I actually read nearly everything he wrote that summer. He has a gift for capturing a child's imagination that in my opinion is unmatched. Jeremy Thather, Dragon Hatcher: A Magic Shop Book by Bruce Coville
A simple, delightfull story for kids and adults who are young at heart. Beautifully written with wonderful characters that spoke to the child in me. I will read more books from this series. This one brought tears to my eyes 🥰🥰🥰

Bin auf dieses Buch durch einen Hinweis des Fantasy-Romans Eragon gekommen. Da ich im Moment mein Englisch etwas trainiere, habe ich es mir schicken lassen. Neben der durchaus lesenswerten Story ist das Vokabular (natürlich subjektiver Eindruck) so gewählt, daß ich den Inhalt gut verstehe. Loved it!
What a great story!! A young boy finds a secret magic shop and purchases a dragon's egg. The friendship that builds between the boy and his dragon is interesting and their time limited encounter is heart breaking. I loved how the author brought these magical elements into a modern world. Great Book
This is a well written book with great illustrations. It is just the right balance of a chapter book with some illustrations... my 9 year old son still enjoys having some illustrations in his books.
