These are pretty amazing!

While having heard about these Apple Find My tags, I have heard of them being mostly used for luggage. But when I saw the listing for these from awoke, I was hoping my assumption that these could be used to tag a dog would work. An adoptee dog generally comes with a lot of unknowns and the one in question is a larger dog of a few years old. So being full grown, long legged and in an area that is more sparsely housed, we had fears that when outside, something may happen for her to bolt. So far thankfully, this has not happened and she seems to be very happy to play and stay close to her humans.Opening this I was expecting one tag and was delighted to find myself looking at 1 black and 1 white tag, a matching set of silicone sleeves, matching rings and attach lanyards, and an extra battery. Each tag had a battery in it. So loaded and ready, the printed instructions were unfurled and being overwhelmed kicked in. There was a lot of printed matter staring at me, but after scanning it became quickly apparent that I could narrow this down to an easily absorbed amount and these instructions were concise and informative. The whole process was so easy once the app was downloaded.The more this was explored, the more we were amazed at what these small little tags offered. Have it on a set of misplaced or lost keys? The tag can ring to alert of its location. When tested it was great how loud the alert sound was. This also has the “left behind” feature for ensuring you leave the house with all tagged items needed. Another feature we love is this will track a route from the phone’s current location to where the tag is on whatever item. So this is what gives us hope this will be what we were looking for with the dog. If she ever does wander, we should get an alert once the signal is disconnected with an alert them being sent to the phone. We will then be given the route to where she is for aid in finding her.Of course having 2 of these is marvellous and with one of the dog’s humans being of school age, there is a tendency with this individual to misplace the backpack. So the second tag will definitely be hung inside this for hopefully easier and faster finding of it.The silicone covers add another layer of protection to these already well designed tags. With a waterproof rating of IP68, this helps ward off rain and water splashing and daily dust, wear and tear. It seems to be a good fit that once securely on, is hard to remove outside of a pointed peeling it off. This does give us some peace of mind with the tag we plan on hanging off the dog collar. But we think we’ll take this step one further by carefully drilling a hole through the neck of the silicone cover to enable us to thread through to the tag. This should allow us to connect the tag and cover together and will give us even more confidence that the tag will stay on an active dog.Am more than happy with these Find My Tags and find them very well designed both physically and technologically. Super useful!
