One of the Best Games in 2026
The Blood of the Dawnwalker is an action RPG where you play as the Dawnwalker- a half human/vampire who loses his vampiric powers during the day, but lusts for blood at night. This creates a fun dynamic where you plan our day/night cycles around your abilities. This game hits on every front and is maybe my second favorite game of 2026.Story- A brilliant story about vampire overlords who rule over a region and how some people just accept it, while others do not. This world is cruel, and you only have 30 days/nights to save your family from being drained in a ritual by the main vampire overlord. While there is a time limit, it is not bad and I conquered all of the sub bosses in about 10 in game days, while doing some side stuff and upgrading. You find that each vampire lord is corrupt and even breaking the rules their master put in place. You have so many choices on how to tackle literally everything and things do change based on your choices. Also, beware of being a starved vampire as you may feast on your friends on accident!Combat- sword combat is directional, which is a huge plus and much better than the generic, "press x to swing". You lock on and use the stick to pick the direction you want to swing or block. Block in the proper directions to avoid burning stamina, and swing at openings to defeat your foes. You unlock all kinds of vampiric, swordsman, and even witchcraft abilities. There are passive and manual skills so pick in choose whatever you like the best. This is an RPG, so there will also be loot so you can customize your gear however you like as well.Graphics/Music- Visually impressive on the PS5 Pro at 60 fps with minor dips and some glitches that I found kind of funny. For example, while storming the final castle, my partner vanished and in cutscenes I was talking to nobody. In my 18 hours of gameplay I had 1 crash and I think 3 bugs (not game breaking). This is using UE5 so I am shocked its running as well as it is. Music is excellent and really reminds me of The Witcher 3, but a little less epic.My Issues- Outside of some of the bugs, I was not a fan of the lock on system as it would switch my targets automatically frequently and just throw me off. Also, I am kind of tired of fighting boars, wolves, and wild dogs, which seem to be everywhere in the wilderness. Lastly, assigning skill points uses up time, and I think that is so strange so I horded 35 points just in case. Ended up using them all at once when I realized it was safe to do so. My advice- just use your skill points, you have time.Overall I would give this a 9 out of 10 due to its excellent story, RPG elements, action combat, beautiful scenery, and unique gameplay mechanics. This is a must buy in 2026 and the steel book makes it all the better.Ver másVer menos
