The Perfect Measuring Tool!
I love this Wellray Laser Measuring Tool! I do have to admit I had trouble figuring out how to get the batteries in to it. But once I figured that out I was well pleased with the device. It will measure up to 165 ft or 50 m with just the press of a button. I measured a board then grabbed my tape measure and measured the board. The laser tool was accurate. I must admit I am still learning everything there is about it but so far I love it. You can change the unit of measurement from meters to feet to inches. It also measures continuous measurement, area, and volume. It is so small that it fits in your hand or your shirt pocket and it cuts off when it hasn't been in use for 180 seconds to preserve battery life. This tool is one you will have to have in your tool box or always within reach especially if you are a carpenter. I definitely recommend this tool.Ver másVer menos

Fun and easy to use. Quick and close to accurate.
Probably not super critical/clinical accurate, but for my needs it works. Needs batteries to work, but they provide you batteries to use it out of the box.Super easy to use, and changing modes and options are easy. You can also change measurement type to Imperial/Metric and different measurement sizes within those types.Has a tripod mount on the bottom to help with measurement. You can event adjust it so measurements can be taken at either the point of the laser, or considering the back of the unit just in case you have it sitting on a wall to room sizes.It's really nice for people who like to randomly take a guess at sizes/distance, I'm one of them.Ver másVer menos

Handy laser measuring device
I ordered this laser measuring device to measure larger areas because using a traditional measuring tape can sometimes be frustrating to control. It comes with batteries included, so it is ready to use right out of the box.I tested the device in a small area first to check its accuracy, and the measurements matched what I expected, as shown in the attached photo. Based on my testing, it appears to measure accurately.The device has one button on the front and two buttons on the side. These controls are used for powering the unit on and off, switching measurement units, changing the measurement benchmark, and accessing the different settings. Retired my old tape measure — this laser tool is faster, more accurate, and way less frustrating*
I've been doing DIY projects around the house for years and a tape measure has always been my go-to. It works, it's familiar, and I never thought much about upgrading. Then I started a bigger home renovation project that involved measuring rooms repeatedly, calculating areas for flooring, and trying to get accurate dimensions in tight spaces where holding a tape measure alone is basically impossible. A friend suggested a laser measure and I figured I'd give the WELLRAY a try. Within the first ten minutes of using it I genuinely couldn't believe I'd been doing things the hard way for so long. It has completely replaced my tape measure for anything beyond a quick rough measurement.The accuracy is what won me over immediately. The ±1/16 inch precision over distances up to 165 feet is genuinely impressive, and in real-world use the readings are consistent and reliable every single time. I verified it against my tape measure on several known distances when I first got it and it matched perfectly across the board. For flooring calculations, window measurements, and room dimensions, that level of accuracy matters — a small error compounded across a large area adds up quickly and costs money. Knowing I'm getting a precise reading every time I point this thing at a wall removes a lot of the uncertainty that used to come with manual measuring, especially over longer distances where tape measures can sag and introduce small errors.One-button operation sounds like a marketing claim but it's genuinely accurate here. You press the button, the laser fires, and the measurement appears on the display within a second. That's it. No settings to navigate before your first measurement, no learning curve. I handed it to my wife who had never used a laser measure before and she was taking accurate readings on her own within two minutes. The display is clear and easy to read, the unit switching between feet, inches, and meters is straightforward, and the area and volume calculation modes work exactly as advertised — point, measure two or three dimensions, and it does the math for you automatically. For calculating how much flooring or paint I needed, that saved me a meaningful amount of time and mental effort.The IP54 rating for dust and water resistance is something I appreciated during a particularly messy drywall cutting session. The tool got dusty and I wiped it down without any concern about damaging it. It's not something I'd take into heavy rain, but for typical job site and DIY conditions it handles the environment well. The build feels solid and the grip is comfortable even during longer measuring sessions. The wrist strap is a thoughtful inclusion — I keep it on whenever I'm up on a ladder or working in a spot where dropping it would be a problem.Battery life has been excellent. Accurate but has a laser leakage flaw (3.5 Stars)
Pros:- Comes with 2 AAA batteries included- Has a tripod mounting hole- Backlight stays on long enough for nighttime use- Supports length, area, and volume measurements- Supports decimal feet, feet and inches, and metres- Measurements agree well with a more expensive laser measureCons:- Leaks laser light to the left of the main beam, which is a serious safety concern- Only 2 buttons make unit changes difficult to remember- Entry-level feature set, no angle or triangular measurements- Minimum range is about 0.9 ft (11 inches) from the baseThe WELLRAY 165 ft laser distance meter has decent quality in a plastic casing. It comes with 2 AAA batteries included and features a tripod mounting hole, which is a nice touch.During my tests outdoors at night, the tool achieved a 135 ft measurement distance. The measurements are fairly accurate and agreed very well with a more expensive laser measure for length and area measurements. The screen backlight does not time out quickly, which is good for nighttime use. The minimum range is about 0.9 ft, which is about 11 inches, counting from the base of the tool.This is an entry-level model since it only features length, area, and volume measurements. It does not feature angle or triangular measurements. You can change the units from decimal feet to feet and inches, and metres are also supported. However, since it has only 2 buttons, the procedure is difficult to remember, and you will probably need to refer to the manual for unit changes.There is one serious design flaw. There seems to be some leakage of the laser to the left of the main laser. Although the intensity of the leakage is small compared to the main laser, it is a serious health concern for people around you when you use the instrument.In summary, the WELLRAY laser measure is a decent entry-level tool for basic length, area, and volume measurements at an accessible price point, and it performs well for everyday DIY use. However, the laser leakage to the left of the main beam is a serious safety concern that stands out. Accurate, affordable, and convenient
If you're looking for a more convenient alternative to the old fashion measuring tape, this is a fantastic option.Coles Notes:- The kit includes batteries, and a very easy to read manual (no broken English on unclear instructions) for getting started.- Adjusting the settings and changing modes is really the only learning curve for this device. I found myself having to consult the manual a few times before I got used to which button combinations to press. Once you learn it though, it's pretty straightforward.- There are a variety of modes like single measurement, continuous, area, and volume. Primarily I got it to use the single measurement.- I haven't tested the full distance as I would have very little need to measure 165', but I did measure end to end around our house and it had no issue measuring the 45' mark.- The laser was way more accurate than I anticipated. It's dead on in my opinion. I trailed several side by sides with our measuring tape and it was always bang on. I have included a side by side comparison in some of the photos.- The device allows you to measure from the top of the device or from the bottom. This is especially useful if you're measuring room sizes or wall to wall so you don't have to do the math to subtract the units height.-The laser is very easy to see anywhere indoors but much more difficult it sunlit environments outdoors. That said, it still performs as expected if you are sure the surfaces you're hitting are lined up.- The manual outlines some of the error codes which were helpful when running through tests. Certain surfaces like human skin can't reflect the laser for a reading.- Build quality seems okay. It doesn't seem super cheap but at the end of the day it is plastic. So be mindful of dropping it if you are using it on jobsites.- There is a backlight for the screen which is a must for people working in darker environments or when you're outside with a lot of sign light reflecting on the screen.- At the time of ordering, this laser measure was priced at $19.99, which in incredible value.
