  Red glass bird with sparkles

  Not yellow

  Why did you pick this product vs others?:It is very pretty.  However, the yellow is very muted. It is more of a putty color than yellow. I know with these hand-blown products colors and how the inside can turn out can vary.  Still pretty.

  This is a beautifully crafted little sparrow made of hand-blown glass.The artistry of glass blowing is a unique craft and a learned ability that takes time and practice. This sparrow shows that level of artistry in its clarity, and smooth surfaces. The true sign of real "human" blown glass is what is referred to as a "pontil mark", or "punty". It is located at the bottom of this bird, or other ornaments, and is a small circular scar where the glass was detached from the blowing tube/rod. This mark attests to the validity of the claim that it is "hand-blown".The glass has a beautiful clear shine, with red and gold colors streaking through it, which in certain light changes the color of the whole bird to red, while in other light, it is partially clear, except for the streak along the bottom portion. The colors are added to hand-blown creations using crushed glass called "frit", or with rods that can be applied to the glass and then melted in.However, even where there is color, it remains see-through.Even though it looks delicate, the glass is pretty strong and durable. It is solid, and cut across the bottom so it sits flat on a shelf or table without tipping. When I hold it in my hand, it has a definite weight to it and I have no doubt that this will last for many years.It is also very easy to clean, so you can keep it sparkling without much work.The shape absolutely captures the size and true form of a small sparrow, and it's the kind of item that works as a single piece on a windowsill or shelf, or as part of a collection, or a set.It's a great gift for people who love birds, or who collect glass figurines, or both, and this will make a special birthday or graduation present.I believe this is a definite value for this price, especially for a true hand-blown glass item of this quality.   Absolutely beautiful

  I am so very pleased with this bird. It is bigger than most paperweights so it will look really nice on my bookshelf. The colors (I got the teal bird) are so vibrant. The handblown moreno type glass is absolutely stunning. I like the little details that don't overwhelm the bird. It is good quality and has a nice heft to it. It is hollow but the glass is thick so it shouldn't break easily. I would definitely recommend this bird.Ver másVer menos
