Amazing grinder, high quality grounds! Outperforms grinders 2-3x its price. Packed with features!
So impressed from the first few days of using this grinder! I previously used the Niche Zero for about 4-5yrs now but wanted to venture into the world of flat burrs. Took me about 3 shots to dial in and was easy. Can definitely grind super fine, likely for turkish levels. Picked this up for $180 and the value is unreal. It basically has the same internals as the Shardor 64mm but at a much better value as it comes with a metal body and bellows. Looks pretty clean on the counter too, wife approved. The grinder arrived professionally packaged with care and in perfect condition. It even comes with an appropriately sized pipe cleaner to clean the grind chute which I wasn’t expecting but is a nice addition. The grinder is relatively quiet with just the motor running, has a tone that’s not annoying, and isn’t too loud when grinding coffee. I’ve heard plenty of other grinders that have an annoying high pitched sound, which is not the case for this grinder. It’s very non offensive sounding. This grinder is fast! Rips through 20g of coffee for espresso in about 7-8seconds and 4-5 seconds when grinding for filter. Way faster than my Niche Zero. The grind adjustment ring has a threaded piece on it that you can move around the ring to your preferred setting which is a very nice feature, making fine tuning the grind a breeze! What I love most about this grinder is how little static it produces. This machine has a built in ionizer which apparently really works. Even without RDT, there is VERY little static when grinding for espresso, much less than the Niche Zero! My workstation is staying clean and I haven't even felt the need to use RDT it performs that well. The grounds that this grinder delivers are fluffy and light, much more so than the Niche Zero delivers, which kind of blows my mind for a grinder at this price. The bellows that came included fit the machine perfectly, feel nice, and work very well to blow out excess grounds. Retention so far is very low using bellows, about 0.1g on typical doses when grinding for espresso. The initial dose of coffee I put through this was 20g in, 18.5g out, so 1.5g of coffee exchange would be expected per dose. The machine also comes with a hopper which I thought I might use, but I think I’ll mostly be using this with the bellows as a single doser. The portafilter holder isn't perfect as you can't adjust the distance from the forks to the tab that holds the portafiler, you can only adjust the entire holder up or down relative to the push start button - this is perhaps the only design flaw in the entire grinder but it's pretty minor and can definitely be worked around. I flipped the portafilter holder upside down for a very nice fit with the WW blind shaker. The catch cup that comes with this grinder gets the job done and fits inside a 58mm portafilter but sits a little bit awkwardly on the portafilter forks for grinding directly into the cup. All pretty minor and can definitely be worked through with small mods. The operation of this grinder is very easy. You can press the black button by the portafilter forks to start the grind or use the touch screen. The screen goes into standby after a while but you can wake it up by pressing either the black grind button or the screen. The beeping noise isn’t very pleasant but I learned you can turn off all beep sounds by holding the - and + time buttons at the same time! Problem solved. The grinder seems to be well built. It’s brand new to the market and doesn’t have any long term reliability testing, but I don’t see any reason to think that it won’t last many years. I really don’t have anything negative to say about this grinder especially for the price, it’s a no-brainer buy if you want something to get you into the world of espresso or 64mm flat burrs and easily competes with other grinders 2-3x its price. This is definitely an under the radar, underrated, deep value grinder that I think people will come around to sooner than later.Ver másVer menos
