Fantastic !!!
I purchased this to grind up fish pellets designed for large catfish to a size more appropriate for panfish (bluegills, shell crackers) and minnows. Assembly was easy. I attached it to my dock, alleviating my worry about the clamp size -- it just fit with about a 1/4 inch to spare. Although the grinder is very heavy, the clamp works great and appears super sturdy.I did not attach the hopper since I will be processing just a handful of fish pellets at a time. The grinding was SUPER SATISFYING. The tension applicator to the grinding plates works great, allowing for a nearly untouched pellet size down to a fine powder. After adjusting to the perfect output size, the fish and the buyer are ABSOLUTELY PLEASED !!!Ver másVer menos

A good buy and worth patience to break in
This works really great. The end product is a blend of fine and small coarse particles when adjusted max tightness, you won't get a fine powder. The level of adjustments is a good option. As mentioned by others, it does leave tiny chrome flakes in the grind, but this wears off in time, like dealing with off tastes and possible rust when seasoning a good frypan. I ran a huge bag of cheap white rice through it twice, this helped reduce the flakes a lot. The chroming of the item is to inhibit rusting of the cast iron. I'm personally not worried about it, did my homework and decided the risk is small to zero. Countertop/table can't be any more than about 1 and 1/2" thick, it won't fit. My counter edge has a narrow lip and I had to place a 3/8" piece of plyboard underneath for a sturdy grip. There is a rubber boot included for the top clamp to protect countertop. Easy to assemble and disassemble for storage. A good buy and will last a long time!Ver másVer menos

Excellent Quality and Very Reliable Grinder
This is honestly one of the best grinders I’ve used—I’ve already bought about 6 of them. The quality is excellent and it works perfectly every time. It’s very reliable and easy to use. Not for 3D printer trash
I saw a recommendation for one of these to grind 3D printer poop. It may be great for corn and such.. it is sturdy and with effort can "grind the printer poop", but not well enough to be worth the time and effort. I kept it at 4 stars because, as I said, it is sturdy and seems to be a decent grinder... but I want to help people save money who want to grind their printer waste.Ver másVer menos

Works okay...ish.... with mods.
The grinder portion grinds pretty well. Extra-coarse grits is about as good as you can get on a single pass. Regular grits on a double pass. You can't make flour. Grinds wheat as well. Will also crush oats. Says it will do wet foods. I didn't try it, but it probably would. Not as well as a dedicated wet food processor though. I bought this specifically to do dry grains.You will NOT want to do more than about 15 pounds of corn at one sitting though. An industrious fellow could rather easily convert this to electric drive with a large pulley and belt on a low rpm motor... would need to make a conical triangular hub for 5/16-18 bolt.Now the bad... The cast portion of the foot is about 3" wide. It had about a 1/8" bow in it that made the center higher than the edges and had to be ground out to be flat. Then the screw that tightens on the bottom of the table was about 3/16" higher than round metal pad that is supposed to be the clamping surface. Once that was ground down to flush it would no longer stay on the screw. Next came the grinder plate adjustment screw. The wingnut that serves as the jam nut wouldn't screw back far enough to allow the adjustment screw to screw in far enough to start adjusting. So I had to break out the dies and recut the threads on the adjustment screw.So I added some dry corn to the hopper and quickly discovered that the plasticy rubber pad under the foot allowed too much wiggle. Removed that. Then figured out that no matter how tight you tighten that thumb screw under the table, in about ten revolutions of the grinding handle it was going to be loose again. So back to the shop... cut the bottom screw completely off. Cut a piece of 3/4 plywood 15"x18" and added a 3" piece across the end with glue and screws. Added a 1 1/2" piece across the bottom on the same end with glue and screws. Then used a couple of 1/4" bolts and washers 2 1/2" long and bolted the grinder down on top of that 3" strip, bolt heads counter sunk on the bottom. The 1.5" strip keeps it from sliding across the table. The strip kerps it from sliding around and one big 6" C clamp on the edge keeps all firmly planted.Ver másVer menos

It does the job!
The only minor problem is that there is a tiny crack between the hopper and where it fits so a few smaller grains slip through. And it is a little larger than I expected. If you're prepared for that, then this grinder is excellent. I wanted a grinder that could grind flax seed and it did a great job. I also ground some rolled oats into oat flour. I'm trying to use less wheat flour and this grinder is the perfect for trying to improve one's health.Ver másVer menos

It is a good, solid manual grinder. I am happy with it.
This is great fun! Have not used it much, as yet, but it is easy to put together and good and sturdy. I got it as I had been pondering an electric mill. I could not justify the cost as I don't need to mill that much and what I really need it for is coarse or cracked grain which I cannot get ready-to-buy. The wood on the handle was split on arrival, however, so I will follow up with that. It hasn't affected its performance. I looked at the comments on a competitor's mill, and went with this one. Glad I did. It looks challenging to put together when you open it, but it really is straightforward. If you are looking, then I have no problem recommending this. Yes, it has a noise to it, but of course it would, and you are only using it for a brief time. It has ground well for the things I have tried with so far. It will take a few passes for fine grind, but that's not a problem. It is all part of the fun of cooking.Ver másVer menos
