  For when you need a left hand tap asap. This worked and arrived next day on the weekend.   This took a lot of torque.

  This is an excellent product. I ordered this just in case the 1/2" x 13TPI nuts that I ordered did not work. The nuts unfortunately did not, but the tap did. I was restoring a 1940's era Black & Decker 6" Bench Grinder. The left handed nut that was on the unit did not screw all the way, so the original owner used a lot of washers as spacers to allow the wheel to seat. I used this tap to clean up an 80 year old left-handed nut. It strained and I was worried that the tap was going to break. I was careful, used oil, went so far and then backed-off. I kept doing this until the original nut was completely dressed. When done, it fit perfectly. The tap took a lot of torque, and it held up just fine. I am very glad that I bought this as a back-up, and I will be keeping it. The chances of me needing a left-handed tap are remote, but now I have one that works great.Ver másVer menos

  hard piece to find!

  well u must need the threads cleaned up or making new part. probably won’t use this a lot, but when u need ur left handed threads cleaned up, this is the way to go

  Reasonable price for left hand thread tap and die.

  Good quality 1/2" x 20 left hand thread tap and die. Used die to clean up threads on bicycle pedal with left hand thread and the tap to clean up the threads on the corresponding pedal arm. Worked great. Would have preferred a hexagon shaped die but was able to adapt with a pair of Vise Grips.Ver másVer menos

  Cannot get the die to track right

  I bought this to repair a 3/4 x16 lefthand thread bolt that I need. Have tryed to make a bolt 6 times & every one has started right ( so I thought, I have done this many times & know how to due this with many years experence) but when you back it off it is not right it creates lop sided threads good on one side & bad on the other. You thread it into its hole it threads in as if it is bent, but it is not bent it is caused by the lopsided threads I only need this to make 1 bolt & as of my last try I am questioning what is happening As for the tap it worked fine to clean up bad threads But I do not know what it would do in making its threads in clean metal Update I tried this again on 8 bolts & it is the same story will not track right good threads on one side & minimal on the other, I would not recommend this or its handle , as a matter of fact I would like to return this as it is only going to be a paper weight around here.Ver másVer menos
