  The hype is real - great value for binoculars for traveling. Lightweight, easy to adjust. Good field of view and brightness. Just the right size. Very happy with purchase.

  Amazing for the price.

  I got the 8x30 for my wife for birding. I am something of an optics geek, but I was really impressed with these. Love the size and weight. Surprisingly generous eye relief given the specs. Wide field of view. Excellent close focus. Bright and sharp with excellent detail and color. Not quite a match for the optics of my 6x as expensive Swarovski’s but the difference is small. Swarovski’s have a more precise focus and more depth of field, but the differences are small for the price. Don’t buy the hype that a bigger, more expensive 42 mm binocular is brighter. That is only true if you use them in the dark when your pupils are dilated. In normal daylight use these have the same brightness and are so much easier to use because of how light weight they are.   Pricey, but perfect

  These binoculars are so exceptional. They have a wide angle of view. They will focus close up and far away, they don’t require a lot of light and they are a dream to use. I have had three pairs over the years. I keep two of them in different rooms and I have given away a third to a friend who has vision issues. We both enjoy viewing our backyard birds through these excellent binoculars. They are not heavy and they have a comfortable neck strap.   Perfect Balance Between Portability, Optics, and Affordability

  Got these after we had visited Costa Rica and found our previous portable binoculars ... lacking.Took these with us on a recent trip and met someone who had Lieca 8x32 binoculars. I compared them in a dark forest setting and would be hard-pressed to tell the difference in the optics. These Nikons are awesome!Pros:+ optics are phenomenal: clear, crisp, and bright!+ Very easy to use - adjusting diopter and lens separation made it easy for my wife and I to share these+ small size & low weight makes them easy to pack and carry+ lens covers (front and rear) can all be attached so won't get lost+ includes soft case that can be folded down to save space when using binocularsCons:None that I can think of.Highly recommended!Ver másVer menos

  Worth it

  My wife calls these 'the best gift I ever got'. I bought them for her before a trip and she used them every day to spot wildlife. The optics are excellent and the image it clear. They're also small enough and light enough that she carries them most times we go out for a walk.Ver másVer menos

  Nice glasses

  I own the following binoculars;Zeiss conquest hd 8x42Leupold BX-2 alpine 8x42 (buddy binoculars)I wanted some smaller binoculars, so that I could just keep them around my neck, on a 2 to 5 mile walk, without any discomfort from the weight of the binoculars. I also did not want to spend a fortune.These binoculars are easy to forget about around your neck. They are an absolute joy to carry.The light weight, does make it more challenging to hold them still, than with a full-size binocular. If you choose to buy a set, I suggest being patient, and experimenting with different eye relief settings.I've been comparing my 3 binoculars, by looking at cottontails, 150 yards away. The Zeiss are the best, but these little Nikons are at no disadvantage. They are a sweet little pair of glasses, that you will forget are around your neck.   Great for birding and butterflies

  I have used these binoculars only a few times, but I already love it. They are lightweight, fit in my hand very well, easy to operate and have a padded and comfortable strap. Best of all, they let me see clearly with lots of detail, light and clarity. I usually look for insects, but also birds and they serve me well for up close and for distant viewing. I also carry a camera with 500 mm lens so it is important for me to have light binoculars. I am happy with the Nikon monarchs 8 by 30.Ver másVer menos

  An amazing binocular at this price point

  I am an avid nature lover and birder and I also love to carry binoculars for my hikes in the mountains. I am not an impulse buyer and do lots of research and testing before buying these kinds of things. I was looking for nice binocular to upgrade my Nikon Prostaff binocular which was demonstrating some chromatic aberrations and fringing. I did lots of research and tried various binoculars in local shops from $350-$2000 price range and finally decided to go with Monarch 7 8x30. There is lots of information over this binocular on the internet so in my review I would not go into every detail and specification, but I would rather go over my thought process in selecting this binocular which I believe will help people who are in the same boat of selecting an excellent binocular.I am also into professional photography, and I have always admired the superior optics of Nikon lenses, so Nikon was an easy choice to try. My previous binocular was also Nikon. Nikon Monarch is one of the most popular bird-watching binoculars from Nikon because of its very high quality as well as mid-price range.Overall, I liked how bright and crisp images this binocular produces due to high quality ED (Extra-low Dispersion) glass, multilayer lens and prism coatings and roof prisms with phase-corrected coating applied to prism surfaces produces higher resolutions bright images with unbelievable true colors. 8.3 Degree wild Field of view which translates into Wide field of view (435 ft at 1000 yards) is amazing and it is extremely helpful for scanning larger area. It’s Close-focus capability of 6.6 ft. is great. . Overall construction feels solid and ergonomic. Entire binocular has very nice non-slip rubber-armored coating. This combined with waterproof and fog-proof design works well in wet conditions. Focus control knob is very smooth and quick. The dioptric adjustment ring is perfect and locking function ensures that it does not inadvertently change. The thing I liked best about Monarch is that the lens covers are attached to the body so there is no chance of losing them.NIKON MONARCH 7 VS EXPENSIVE OPTIONS:I compared Nikon Monarch 7 alongside with top-of-the-line Leica and Swarovski binoculars and difference in image sharpness, contrast, brightness, colors were very minor. I would say Nikon was about 90-95% close at about 30-35% price so I can say Nikon Monarch M7 stands up very well against them. The only difference I could see is while Nikon Monarch 7 maintained image sharpness around 80-85% from the center and was slightly softer at edges, expensive binoculars were clear and sharper edge to edge. Now, with 8 Degree FOV which equates to 435 ft. at 1000 yards, does it matter much? For some it might, but for me it was sufficient.NIKON MONARCH 7 8x42 VS NIKON MONARCH 7 8x30:Many people may be considering buying 8x42 or 8x30. I have both and I reach out to 8x30 most of the time. 42mm lens is supposed to be brighter but I do not see any difference in 99% of situations. The only difference I would notice will be very low light situations. 8x42 is significantly lighter and compact which is perfect for hiking, camping, and backpacking.MONARCH 7 8x30/42 VS MONARCH 7 10x30/42:This is the most asked question for any beginner in birdwatching. Most experts would agree that 8x42/8x30 is better for stability as well as scanning large area. For me 10x30 was ruled out right away due to narrower 6.7 angle of view (351 ft. FOV).Overall, I am extremely happy with the performance and quality of this binocular. It will surely last for life but if something happens, Nikon provides a lifetime warranty on binoculars.
