Quality Construction
It has been awhile since I worked on a car and my old fender protector had disappeared. I bought this one because I like red - and the sewn construction of combining three pieces of material, provides a nice "valley" to keep tools from rolling away. How well it works will depend a little bit on the layout of your fender. This one does not have a non-slip backing or magnets to keep it in place. I used a couple of spring clamps to hold it to hoses and batter cables under the hood. It worked reasonable well. I did not put any stock in the Craftsmen name brand, as that has changed over the years, but this piece is fine.Ver másVer menos

Just okay. Doesn't stay in place.
If you have a vehicle with an engine bay that easily accommodates this mat, this may be "good enough" for you. What happens when I use this on my 2004 Tundra is that I can't fit enough of the mat inside engine bay due to things like the ABS module, airbox, and wiring harnesses through grommets interfering with the mat. This is combined with the misfortune of a distance that is too short between the edge of the hood and the top of the fender well. I can't get enough of it inside the engine bay, and it's not very soft and doesn't want to drape over components. Consequently, I've had the mat fall out. If you're working in your driveway on a windy day, this means that this product can be easily blown off. The other thing is that this material is stiff in cold weather and doesn't conform to the contour of the vehicle, which leads to it fitting poorly and coming out of place. I have the less than ideal situation of not having a garage and sometimes having to make repairs in the late fall, early spring or even the winter. Additionally, I find that it isn't long enough on the exterior to protect the paint from my belt buckle. I would do better with a product that is softer and more pliable, dimensioned better, and has magnets to help it stay in position. If you're in a warmer climate or heated garage with a vehicle that has the right engine bay, it might be okay for you, but I personally would not recommend this product.Ver másVer menos

Disappointing.
I was looking forward to using this product when working on the engine on my car, but it doesn't secure itself to the car, it just slides off.
